'Maybe this was a bad idea...' Shu'er mused, rubbing her hands together for warmth. Somehow or other, she'd ended in Yan for the winter...a bad, bad thing for operating streetside. 'To begin with, sick people shouldn't be out in this weather, huh...'

The lithe young woman, her red-clad form wrapped in a heavy cloak, turned to look at her 'shop', smiling despite the cold. It was a very simple setup; the frame she used to carry her medicine cabinet on the road could be folded into a stand when she stopped. That, a small table borrowed from the inn, and her pretty orchid banner were all she needed, and she always felt a certain pride when she looked at it. She was still learning, but she had helped enough people already to feel confident in her skills. If only...

Her thoughts were interrupted by some nearby giggling. A group of children were standing on the opposite street corner, pointing at her and snickering among themselves. Shu'er scowled indignantly. "Hey, what's so funny?"

"The silly girl standing out in the snow, that's what!" one boy shouted, eliciting a fresh round of giggles from his friends.

"Hmmph...well I'll have you know it's not cold at all!" she yelled back, taking off her cloak. She smirked at them and stood confidently with her hands on her hips, wearing only her red tunic and leggings.

The kids stared at Shu'er open-mouthed. "N...no way..." the boy from earlier gulped when, after nearly a minute, the young doctor's smile and posture hadn't changed.

"Shows how much you know," she replied smugly. "I'm a great doctor, after all. I can make potions that protect from the cold and stuff! See, my hands are even warm!"

She held out her hands, and the children approached with mixed expressions of disbelief and childish awe. The lead boy hesitantly reached out to touch the proferred hand...and the moment he did, the ice-cold fingers closed around his wrist and he found himself jerked forward and facedown into the snow.

"Gotcha!" Shu'er giggled, quickly rubbing her frozen hands. "Now who's silly?"

There was a moment of silence, and then someone shouted "Get her!" and Shu'er was set upon by the snowball-wielding mob. She gave back as good as she got, her medicine stand temporarily forgotten as battle was waged on the snowy street. And then a smile touched her lips when the flurry of snow and thudding of white projectiles was joined by the sound of childish, carefree laughter.

She'd probably catch a cold from this, but it was a good start.

Lai blew in his hands in a desperate attempt to restore some warmth to them. His eyes looked up and he stopped mid stride.

Well at the very least she had courage, alone with only her shop's ambitions to shield her... A thought struck him.

"Good day, I must say the years away from Yan's unforgiving weather have dulled my resistance. I am Fei Lai."

The scholar smiled before bowing, hoping he was not being too forward.

((Shall I assume this is some time after the Great Battle of Snowballs? :) ))

Hearing the crunch of footsteps in snow, Shu'er looked up from the snow monkey she had been making next to her stand. She quickly stood up straight, brushing snow from her gloves, a slight flush coming to her already-reddened cheeks at being caught playing around by a potential patron. When Fei Lai introduced himself and bowed, she did the same, the motion enthusiastic but not quite correct.

"My name is Tu Shu'er, Master Fei," she replied, beaming at him. "And yes, it is pretty cold out, isn't it? I was a bit worried too earlier when I set up shop, but it's actually not too bad if you don't dwell on it, and move around once in a while. I guess it might not have been such a good idea, though...I mean, if a sick person came to see me now, first thing I'd say is to get out of the cold, right? I probably should have tried to set up indoors at the inn, but I wouldn't want to trouble the owner with patients coming in and making his customers uncomfortable..."

She paused, not appearing out of breath yet and still smiling. "So, Master Fei was originally from Yan? Are you back to visit family, perhaps?"

Lai hung his head for the slightest moment.

"Ah yes, my beautiful Yan. I come here every year... to pay my respects."

Shifting his weight from one foot to the other, Lai covered his ears for a moment while his body adjusted to the biting cold.

"I am not in need of your services, yet I found your situation intriguing. It is as if... a person of your skill and talent should not need to suffer to make a living, perhaps there is a special reason for your setup here?"

Lai was prying, but it was something he did well. Though his ambitions had died in his youth, his instincts on establishing a person's worth in moments had not. He smiled, worst case he'd be sent away to a warm tea.

"Ah!" The woman popped as she fell on nothing infront of the Ji guards, looking embarrassed and clumsy, she somehow manages to prop herself back up. Stepping up to the guards now, the woman before them quickly tries her best to erase what they just saw and bows her head, an embarrassed smile upon her face. "Good afternoon, I am Wen Luan of Yongzi, here to request an audience with your superior." The gown she was wearing gave her little movement in her arms, as the sleeves were sewn together at the back, kind of weird, but along with the mock clumsiness it helped to give off the aura that she wasn't the physical type.

"Skill? Oh please," Shu'er giggled good-naturedly. "It'll be years before I'm at my father's level, and as much as I love him we both know he's not exceptional either. Besides, as to why I'm out here...well, it's either I open up a clinic in some town, or I take my clinic with me as I go. There really aren't that many ways to be a doctor, and I kinda prefer traveling, all things considered."

She smiled at Fei Lai with an absolutely straight face. "Ah, but even though you don't need anything now, you really should be careful about staying out too long, Master Fei. It's easy to catch a cold if you're not used to the weather, you know."

Lai ignored the cold and rubbed his chin.

"Travelling doctor huh? Well, that would match my description as well, though I'd be more the travelling Scribe. I have some business in Qi for a while, but perhaps you and I can form some kind of partnership?"

It was obvious Lai had something specific in mind and was only exploring if them working together was possible or not.

[Team Oro~]

The ones that could come, were called to the main building of Yongzi, where they would be let in to the main hall on arrival. Inside was the average look that this era had, with a few guards standing around the room, chatting amongst one another. Chatting to some guards was the woman that had called them all together, known as Pyu Pyu to her friends and Wen Luan to anyone else. She wore the same attire she always wears, with her sleeves connected at the back and the flower hairpin atop her head, her long dress skimming the ground.

There she waited, while her plans came together.

Ooc: sorry missed this so double post.

The guard's face looked impassive.

"Very well. Follow me."

The guard and 3 others escorted her to a good size hall where she was announced and the guards remained.

"Welcome to Ji, how may I help you?"

The lord of the citÝ failed to introduce himself, though the omission seemed intentional
