For nearly a year the province of Yue and it's people had fallen underneath underneath the reign of the Qin Dynasty since the former Qin Shi Huang's occupation of the territory. Yet it was over time the province of Yue had begun to shift to reflect it's new masters, it's very culture changing with time to be a reflection of the Qin Dynasty. Yet it was amongst this center of forced change and trade sat the city of Wuzhong.
The freshly constructed city lay between the two marsh filled valleys which had once served to separate the people and bring it into one. Finally the province of Yue had fallen underneath what seemed a state of unification until the election of the former Magistrate Bo Huai. Months work of construction lay waylayed and projects left to crumble with lack of attention. All to simply divert so much as a single gold coin into the pocket of the former Magistrate. Yet it was within the month of August of 209 BC that was left to change with a single shift of power. The Prefect of Wuzhong, Lord Xue Jin had risen to power within that city after a show of force which had routed the former Governor and his corrupt officials.
Truly though the testament to the change of power lay ever apparent, the once luxurious and well furnished halls of the former Magistrate's Administrative Center left all but stripped of it's former glory. Statues, paintings, and other needless luxuries alike sold to help fund those projects whose growth Bo Huai had once stunted while even the walls lay in ruins as the former Administrative Center was broken apart with time. It's very walls which had once stood for corruption and greed transformed into the very materials needed to feed the new public works throughout the city. Such as the new Administrative Center of Prefect Xue Jin.
Amongst the bustling roads and waterways which was the new Grand Exchange of the city lay that of a single structure, the Administrative Center of Prefect Xue Jin. Separated from the market by that of a man made stream, fed by a river not far from the Grand Exchange, the new Administrative Center stood as a symbol of authority and growth for that of it's fair city. Yet it was past that separating stream which lay nearly the height of two men in depth and that of a wagon in length stood that of wooden walls. Erupting nearly ten foot within the air those palisades served as the final line of defense for those officials inside. With it's walkways though a near constant patrol of forty odd guards, each armed with a crossbow, patrolled those walls, over watching both the welfare of the Administrative Center and the Grand Exchange which surrounded them.
However despite the defensive nature of that Administrative Center the single entrance into that building lay all but heavily guarded. Guarding the length of that folding bridge, which lay open at all times but after the sun set, sat but three men within the shade of the palisade. Sitting around a small wooden table eating, drinking, and enjoying themselves with that of a chat. Yet a quick look of the men could of quickly shown who was in charge for despite those gleaming suits of bronze armor, gleaming spears and sheathed Jian, or even those ornate sleeves of silk tied to their arm which identified themselves as guards within the employment of Xue Jin, it was amongst their midst a relatively aged man sat within but a set of brown robes. Yet it was despite the aging of his face the dark black hair, contrasted by but the occasional length of salt amongst those flowing locks, the man seemed as much in his prime as the two younger officers to his sides.
Yet it was beyond those three officials, who served as receptionists for visitors, lay five buildings. The largest of which barely peeking above those ten foot wooden palisades. However a quick inspection allowed even the dullest of men to figure out the general use of each building.
It was built against the left side of those wooden walls two identical buildings sat side by side separated by as little a gap as six foot, which lay filled with that a single bronze gong. But it was with the near constant emergence and entrance of well adorned troops, clad in leather breast plates and grieves while, carrying bronze tipped Qiang on hand and sheathed Dao upon hip, the buildings could of easily been guessed to off been guard barracks. Their mere size alone suggesting at least two hundred soldiers lay stationed within the halls of the Administrative Center.
However opposite of those buildings lay two others built into the right side of the wall. Yet they looked similar to those two barracks opposite of them, or even alike between themselves. The lowest of the two buildings lay rather docile within the middle of the day. But the occasional servant or two coming or going forth, fetching supplies or some other good upon their Lord's command. The building was quite obviously the Servants Quarters...
The building just beyond it was far from typical. Set nearly twenty feet away from the servant's quarters and with but a single entrance way, a guard armed positioned upon either side of the doorway, seemed to be the only way to gain entry. With but small slit like windows installed into the top of the walls and that door guarded, it seemed as if it was a almost private sector.
That left the fifth and final structure within the Administrative Center. Placed at the far end of the courtyard, and nearly thirty feet from that bridge, the front of the building stood. With a size that stretched from one end of the courtyard to another the building easily made up for in length what it lacked in height as the building stood at but a simple two stories with a single tower within it's northeast side. Yet despite it's grand size the outside surface of the building was almost bland. The stone structure's wall lay it's bland gray, not so much as a hint of color upon those walls as scant windows less than six inches long and several feet across covered the topside of the walls allowing a cool breeze and light while maintaining safety. And thus, rather like many of the structures of the building, it seemed to be that only a single entrance existed into that administrative center. Those closed stone double doors.
Let us say someone asked for those sturdy doors to be parted with that of a shout, with the grinding and clicking of gears and slight groan of labor, those doors slowly parted in just wide enough for a man to pass through before closed once more. Leaving them within the audience hall and face to face to the rather bland insides. In place of luxuries treasures, statues, or paintings upon those walls hung arrangements of herbs and spices around that entrance way which brought a rather sweet smell to that otherwise dull tinted air. Yet with a arrangement of ten guards passing back and forth by that entrance, passing time and enjoying themselves at a table positioned towards that door, it seemed the visitor would far from go unescorted. Likely nodding the visitor and those normal receptionists from the gates through any who entered would find themselves lead down that straight hallway perhaps twenty or so feet before coming to a pair of wooden doors. Calling their arrival that aged receptionist would slowly push away those doors and reveal quite a interesting sight.
The room before them lay brightly lighten from torches throughout the room, the light wispy smoke almost adding to the scene as fresh spicy herbs placed in intervals around the room gave a almost relaxing setting. Yet before those visitors to the Audience Hall and work room to the Administrative Center of Xue Jin was left to gaze upon several scholarly fellows of varying ages sitting at various tables talking amongst themselves over issues or marking away within a scroll another for storage. Yet it was alongside that room lay guards, all the more merry as the scholars as they lay dwindled amongst their numbers talking and debating with those who dare take on the concept, and general stubbornness, of a military man. In total though about twenty or so scholars lay throughout that room while perhaps fifteen guards, weapons nearby, sat amongst them. Yet it was upon the far side of that room lay a staircase made of stone. A quite bizarre number of thirteen flights of stone steps, each side of the steps with a bronze rail, led up to the next level where normally five figures sat talking amongst themselves at a table upon the far end, it's width separating them and who dare ascend to their level.
Upon the very ends sat two figures who was perhaps less known than the other three, and yet still known for being personal attendants of the Prefect of Wuzhong. Those two figures was none other than Dang Pei and Liao Kai, one upon the left side and the other right, who sat within their full military apparel. That young, yet quite wide and relatively plump, Dang Pei ever adorned within that suit of bronze armor while a Yanmaodao lay upon his hip while the white haired Liao Kia sat dressed within a pair of leather armor, preferring it's lesser weight in his aging years, sat with his Jian placed upon the table before him. Yet those who sat within the center three any would of surely recognized within a single look had they so much as heard of the Prefect of Wuzhong, Xue Jin. To his left sat Man Su, a near giant of a man who stood at near seven head who acted as the Prefect's bodyguard, ever gazing onward with a frown despite that seeming joy within his eyes as he casually sharpened his sword with the occasional flick of whetstone against his naked Yanmaodao... while the lovely Besart lay to his Master's right, that blade resting upon his hip underneath that table.. Only for within the very middle Xue Jin to sit there, grinning slightly as he laid there with a arm wrapped along his lovely Besart's waist as he cooed, "Good day, truly it is a pleasure to have you within my fine city."

Song Lu Pi travelled to see the new man who now called himself prefect of the city. As a man of learning he was in intrigued to learn what made this man any better than the rest. Could he move the masses? He doubted it. Smiling, he approached the guards and bowed a good day.
"Good morning," he said raising his head again. "My name is Song Lu Pi. I wish to speak with someone about any employment you have on offer."

It was as the visitor Song Lu Pi began to approach that bridge which connected the Administrative Center to that of the Grand Exchange, those three figures which had been sitting around that small table laughing and talking as they ate a small lunch of bread and wine was left to momentarily grow still. The figure which sat upon that far end of the table gave but a few waves of his hand however as he rose before softly saying, "Please keep enjoying yourselves. It won't be but a minute." he softly commented before raising.
Allowing a hand to run down the course of his brown robes, cleaning off any crumbs of bread which had fallen upon his shirt, and adjusting that sheathed Jian upon his hip he slowly strode forth and allowed his head to roll forward. Hands coming before him, right hand curled into a fist while his left cupped it, he took up a formal military bow he maintained till the man had had drawn close. "Good day sir." the receptionist softly commented before allowing the man to speak, only then raising his gaze to meet that of the guests. "I am afraid to say it good sir but you would need to speak with Prefect Xue Jin, not myself. If you are willing to come inside though I am sure he would be willing to give you a audience."

After receiving the invitation letter from the governer of Wuzhong, a young lady approached the Wuzhong audience hall. She bowed to the guard in front of the hall.
"Greeting, Sir. My name is Li Qiao. I come here in response to the invitation from lord Xue Jin. I am consent for any search."

Song Lu Pi smiled. He did not realise all a man had to do to see a prefect was to ask. If only all life were that simple. He nodded to the guard to show his acceptance and waited to be shown the way.

Jo Ker was on leave from his raiding and pillaging of innocent towns. Sure it was fun and all, but he had made enough money to last him his lifetime and perhaps even half of his childrens lifetime, that is, if he ever had any.
The bandit lord had heard of a great prefect in the city of Wuzhong that had taken control over the city, freeing it from the grip of the corrupt former Govener and his allied officials. So, Jo Ker decided to look up the rumored perfect of the eastern province of Yue, in the town of Wuzhong.
Many days and many nights passed until he finally arrived upon the fair city, the day young as the dew still wet the grass and the roasters howled, waking up the denizens of the city that still slumbered. Surely someone would be up at the prefect's establishment? But where did it lie in this intricate city? That was something he would have to find out on his own. As the bandit walked through the city, he tapped his intricately designed, sheathed Jian lightly against his bronze armor, looking for a tavern of some sort where he could acquire information on the whereabouts of the prefect's residence. But apparently, luck was on his side today as a pair of wandering city guards walked by across the road. He yelled loudly to them from across the street. "Hey you two!" Catching their attention he smirked, watching them walk over to his position hastily. When he found them standing before him, he bowed his head slightly in gratitude. "You two wouldn't happen to know the whereabouts of this new prefect would you?"

It was as the young Mistress of the Li family began her approach to those retainers who sat upon that bridge discussing the affairs of the world and relatively enjoying the company of themselves, the three men seemed nearly shocked when the woman stopped before them and began to speak. Her appearance having seemingly slipped the attention of the three chatting men at first, yet it was with their attention finally set upon her one of the figures slowly rose.
With age hinting upon his weathered features, yet with black hair to his shoulders which lay lined by only the occasional grain of salt, the man strode forth before the woman. Clad within but a set of casual brown robes he slowly bowed his head as his hands came before him, his right clenched within that of a fist while his left cupped it, taking on that of a formal military bow. "Good day Mistress Li Qiao, it is a pleasure to see you have finally reached our fair city. Lord Xue Jin will surely be pleased to see you have arrived and will surely make time to see you. Yet Mistress Li Qiao, should you care our men shall stable your horse for now or should you have any luggage or servants coming my men shall happily escort them to their rightful places. However, if you would, please follow me for now. I'll take you to see Lord Xue Jin." the weathered retainer cooed before turning upon his heel, begging to approach the administrative center before pausing after a few steps. Curious if the woman would follow.
Kingpin:
Briefly nodding that aged minister would turn upon his heel and he softly said, "Please follow me sir." before beginning to approach the Administrative Center. Passing through those stone double doors, after calling for them to be opened, the aged minister would lead the man throughout the hallway through a small checkpoint of guards. A quick nod insuring they was left unmolested as they approached the audience hall chambers.
Taking time to but briefly knock he opened up those double doors revealing a room full of working scholars and servants running amidst them delivering scrolls or carrying them away for storage. Yet it was above this scene of chaos there lay five men sitting around a table. A small stone staircase leading up to their elevated position. Silently motioning for the man to follow the aged retainer began to ascend those stairs until the seventh step where he stopped and once more set himself into that military bow. "Lord Xue Jin, this visitor has apparently sought you out seeking employment and wished to know if you could grant him a audience for now." the aged retainer briefly cooed.
Only for the robed man who sat within the midst of those five men to but motion towards the single chair which lay opposite of the table of him, a grin upon those slim lips. "And that is something I would be happy to grant."

It was chatting amongst themselves the two soldiers, adorn within leather breast plates and carrying small bronze tip spears, was left to freeze as someone yelled. What was this? Had yet another looter decided to be so bold as to actually rob now that the military had established themselves within the city? Tightening their grasps upon their spears and tensing to run after the hooligan the two soldiers was left to gaze upon the approaching figure with confusion. Just what was this? Was this a officer?
It was bringing their spears to their sides and standing straight they gazed upon the possible officer from afar.. just what was this? He was dressed within bronze armor resembling that of a noble or perhaps one of the Lieutenants within the military... and yet he messed the tall tell sign of a badge those officers was forced to wear? Had he perhaps forgotten within the confusion of the occupation? Or was this perhaps a nobleman? Casting a stolen glance amongst themselves the two soldiers stayed how they was until the man was before them and began to question them, a quick reply of, "The Prefect of Wuzhong, Lord Xue Jin, is likely within his office sir. The administrative center is just up the road, sir." coming from one of the guards.

What was he happy to grant? Lu Pi thought. A job? An audience? Both? What ever it was it didn't matter. He bowed to the man in the robes who he presumed was Xue Jin.
"My name is Song Lu Pi. I have come to seek employment. I was rather impressed with you performance in you last battle which won you your land. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to help you in your cause?"

It was softly chuckling Shoumin gazed upon the man before him who oh so bluntly laid out his intentions. He desired to join him? He was impressed by the battle over Wuzhong? Just what was there to be impressed about? All he had done was run the scurvy out through means of intimidation and poison rather than daring waste his time on some potent strategy or formation to fight off those buzzards who had torn the newly founded city apart.
Yet it was without so much of a word of complaint Shoumin gave a nod of his head towards that man's questions before softly cooing out his reply, "Lord Song Lu Pi, I shall admit I know little of your strength, skills, or virtues yet time is something which reveals all. I shall cast no man aside within these time of chaos, and if you wish to find employment underneath me, I shall happily grant it to you should you accept it."
