Ma Su listened and nodded a few times

"I very much understand your feelings. However, as a soldier you have to get used to such things. It sounds like you have seen more of the... unglorious side of things. I have only had to burn bandit encampments and engage enemies in battles. I was oftentimes ordered to move on before any massacres had to take place. But it is necessary to make sure the enemy never rises again."

He looked back at the thugs, who were whispering amongst each other. They soon started harassing the barmaid. He continued, still observing.

"Maybe if you and I go on an expedition together, you will not have to be caught up in that sort of thing. Being a cavalry officer has its benefits: just attack the enemy and move on. Infantry has to deal with mop up a lot of the time."

He clicked his tongue to get the thugs' attention. The barmaid ran off into the kitchen, taking advantage of the situation. He was in a good mood, and drinking, fooling around with women, and fighting were often the results of such a happy disposition.

"Hey, you guys. There's no loitering around here. I suggest you leave."

Being an Imperial officer had its perks.

"Why don't you mind your business, tough guy. We're just enjoying drinks."

Not even drunk, Ma Su stood up and clenched his fists, with a grin on his face.

"Care to join me, friend Jang? These guys need to understand they can't be disturbing the peace like this.

Jang smiled and nodded his head to Ma Su as he spoke. his words were true, to be a fighter or a soldier rather, you have to get use to atrocities. after all was itself is an atrocity. to say you cant stand to commit or to order such things would most likely depict you as one not fit for such a life. Jang didn't like the act of such things, but he was a soldier and a general through and through. he followed loyal as he was ordered to do such and he would do it again if ordered so.

"hmm go on a expedition huh? i think i would enjoy that. im not much of a Calvary man sens i fought in the rank and file of the infantry most of my time but im always open to learn and experience new things that could help me become a better general."

just then Ma su and the thugs started to banter back and forth. once ma su stood to his feet jang smiled and lowered his head. perhaps this man just liked to fight? if that was the case him and the king should get along famously. looking up once more jang stood to his feet. he was not an imposing man, under his robes his body was well maintained and muscular. but he was not large nor was he intimidating. he was just skilled. but from his look with his robes and not a scratch of army on him except for his bracers. looking around there was only a few of them and if his training and battle experience taught him anything it was numbers dont mean much if you know what your doing. Jang looked back over to ma su and nodded his head and awaited the hulking man to make the first move.

OneEyedDrgn wrote:Zhuwen eyed Tai, not sure what to make of her. He had believed that the lady would stay aloof for the walk after her refusal of Zhuwen's offer, but here she was now being close to the man. It was nothing to complain about, just strange. Her last words made Zhuwen let out a loud laugh.

"King of Blood huh? That doesn't sound bad at all! I don't know if you mean I'll just be a killer or an actual king, but it sounds cool nonetheless. Maybe that old fart Xiang Yu would like to give his throne away."

Zhuwen laughed again, seeming to not care that he was in Chu territory and his words would probably lead to an execution. Luckily for him, or possibly for both of them, no guards seemed to be around and people around them didn't seem to care. He began to lead Tai outside the village, leading her to a small secluded forest, where things seemed to become much more tranquil. Zhuwen was still hoping to change Tai's mind about his offer.

"So then, Lady Tai. Tell me about yourself, anything. I'm very interested to know."
She smiled that he found his title funny. It was funnier that no matter what path he chose in life, he seemed fine with it. It made him easy to read, hard to predict. she liked that about him, because it didn't hurt her head.

She also noted his take on Xiang Yu, which also kept the smile there. A king is there. boring. Making kings. More fun. He led her into the forest, and Tai knew it was secluded. it was nice to be in nature, whenever possible. To feel the ground, grass and plants, between your toes. Free to feel the life all around you, breathing into you.

His question took her off guard some, lost in thought as she was.

"Many colors follow Tai, but never can one see oneself. Often serves no purpose, if one could." She looked at the man beside her, remembering who he is. "It's often too hard to remember the past, when you spend all your time looking to the future. I travel, I heal, I dance. I breathe into life, as it breathes into me, we share our breath. Somedays the spirits all around play tricks on me, sometimes I play tricks on them. It is fun, but can grow boring, and so Tai looks for other entertaining things. Sometimes people, sometimes towns, sometimes battles. Anything can be fun, when seen the right way. You only lose that when you see it the wrong way."

She continued leaning on this man, breathing him in for the first time. His scent reeked of fun, of pain, of passion. She tasted death from him, but also life.

"What of the King of Blood? What is it that makes him tick?"

[暗兵] - The Shadows

Qian Yen sighed. "Xia Mo... that is Po Huai, a little boy but still one of us. You don't eat your own people. Be nice now and take some of the mutton here as substitute please." Although these are Qian Yen's best lieutenants. they do have weird personalities and she is wondering what would happen to them if Qian Yen no longer around to hold them together.... probably they will kill each other till the last one standing.

"Brothers, I think for now we need a base for us to work from. I had hired a contractor to find a suitable place for us in Chu. I am still waiting for the good news."

"Po Huai."

The kijo spat the name again, now with a tone of discontent.
Opening its eyes and marring its face with a mangled frown.
There was a momentarily flash of rage in its gray eyes.
Calming to a still, as an internal struggle dissipated underneath.

"And who would that be? Another one of your.. boys perhaps?"

The kijo gave out a sweet chuckle and sat beside Po.
Clawed hands playing out with the mutton on its plate.
With a genuine smile on her face, as if nothing unusual happened.

A tangled mass of ashen, white hair hammered the boy's gaze.
As the kijo slowly inhaled, sucking out the air, filling up its greedy lungs.
And basked in the ambiance of the most delightful of flesh scents.

The scent of the one so young.

The kijo softly laughed and closed its tilted eyes.
With an ecstatic expression painted on its jagged face.
Enthralled with a sensation that only it could perceive.
Like a delirious drug connoisseur of some sort.

Apparently Xia Mo is one individual... no... make that one dangerous individual that at least listen to Qian Yen. Back at their mountain stronghold, Xia Mo was known never to listen to anyone's command. Not even Qian Yen's father who is the chief of the stronghold. Many members shunned away from the blind demon except for Qian Yen, who finds Xia Mo to be a valuable lieutenant.

"Yes...yes..." Qian Yen sighed, "Little Po Huai is one of my boys, just like Xun Jiang and Shan Dian." Qian Yen glances at both men with feint flirtations. "Don't scare little Po Huai badly, Xia Mo. We need him to be sane enough to find money for us with his horse breeding program." Qian Yen chuckles as she finds the irony of her statement. None of them which includes her can be considered sane at all.

Again, the woman went off to a rambling Zhuwen could not fully comprehend. The only message he was able to understand from Tai's words was that she was spontaneous, and this was something he could relate to with her.

"Oho, then it seems we both might be kindred souls," Zhuwen said rubbing his chin. "Nothing really makes me 'tick.' I don't live for anything besides enjoying this life I have. Maybe except for meeting beautiful women I guess. Why waste time working for all this power and glory people seem to want these days? They'll be gone soon enough. Empires crumble, people are forgotten, some may remember your name but in the end they don't care and go on with their lives. So why not just live to enjoy life? You know what my style name is?"

He paused there for a moment, and a small frown formed in his face, realizing the mistake he had made.

"...Actually, I haven't even given you my given name huh? How rude of me, not to introduce myself to a beautiful lady. It's Liang Zhuwen, though you can call me whatever you want. I think I like King of Blood better actually. Anyway, my style name is Hedeng (Breeze). I go around this land with no sense of direction, doing whatever I can to just pass the time and enjoy life. Longest time I stayed in one place was with Xiang Yu's forces, left after the guy stopped conquering and I got bored."

Zhuwen cocked his head to look at Tai. There was a moment of silence, as Zhuwen considered something in his mind.

"You know, if you're like me, how 'bout we travel together some? You know, breathe life together and all that stuff."

Normally, Zhuwen wouldn't give such an offer. Staying too long with a woman and committing himself sounded awful. But there was something about Tai that Zhuwen liked... surprisingly in a platonic way.

Po Huai looked at that crazy Xia Mo. Is not like he was scared seeing that in his company he had Xun Jiang and Shan Dian who are equally crazy if not more. Just that Xia Mo being female attracted him as much as it shun him.

Shrugging at her craziness, he said "Right, about the horse program, business is going to be sketchy and I think I have competition. Going to need your help in eliminations....So Xia Mo, go carass them instead."

He often wonders why he is in the company of such people who apparently enjoy killing and not the monetary aspects of such deals. If not of him, he wonders if the team can even afford this meal.

OneEyedDrgn wrote:Sweet heavens, she's better looking than I imagined! Zhuwen thought when he finally saw the lady he had been looking for. His eyes turned to the other younger men around the house. These boys don't stand a chance with the likes of me. Good, there isn't going to be any competition. Zhuwen looked back at the lady.

"Yes, of course. Now you see, I was just wandering about Chu and I happened to hear about a certain gorgeous woman around the province. So I decided to pay the woman a visit, and damn, the woman turns out much more beautiful that I had expected." Zhuwen gave his smile, the smile he used to charm most of the women he encountered. "I was wondering if this woman would like to do anything with me. Anything."
Rui offered a polite smile and some cheerful laughter, though she tried to be subtle in getting some partial cover behind the door. Quite an overly forward fellow this one was! "Well... aren't you a helpful man! I am quite busy working right now but maybe you can do me a favor? There is a gardner other side of town and I wanted to collect some flowers but now I'm just afraid I'll not be able finish in time to meet him." She wore her best 'sad' face, allowing the strapping young man to catch the obvious hint of a distressed damsel.
"I've been fighting since all this began," replied Ji Bu, shaking his head, "Xiangcheng, Chengyang, Huling, Donga, both the victory and the defeat at Dingtao, Chenliu, Handan, and finally that great victory before the walls of Julu. Of the lot, Julu not only broke the might of and doomed the Qin, but also created the aura of ferocious invincibility that the Hegemonic King has cultivated. With only fifty thousand troops, we broke two massive Qin armies that outnumbered us ten to one."
"I remember the Battle of Julu, Master Ji Bu. It was the first action I had seen as a lieutenant; I commanded a small archer company in the Great King's army. I did not take part in the sacking of Xianyang, though. I wish I could have done more, but my age and physique prevented it. I can only hope that the Great King can find a place for me now that I've returned from assignment in the former Qin lands." Ranzhen sighed. "There is no end to the need for talented people like you, Master, but for low-ranking commanders there is the possibility for us to fall through the cracks."

"You and your farmville ideas, Po Huai."
"Stop rubbing it on us will you?!"
"I dont know how you tricked Qian Yen into this.."
"... but sure as hell I wont be playing your stupud farmville game!"

The kijo finally barked at Po Huai and walked towards Qian.

"You stay away from me you hear me!" The kijo pointed at Po.
"Just... just sit there. Don't move. Don't talk. Don't.. anything!"

The kijo hurriedly sat beside Qian and began to undo the boy's work.
"Oi Qian Yen, wake up. Wake up! Snap out of it, will you!"
Shaking Quian's shoulders as if to wake her up from a bad dream.

The kijo suddenly spoke in whispers, with a conspiratorial voice
"You've been hanging out with that farmville boy for too long."
"He's gonna make you feed his horses, promise you pots of gold and rainbows"
"And the next thing you'll know, you'll be planting rice along with him!"

"Horses?! The kijo growled as she ran loose with her temper
We're going to talk about horses and more bloody horses all day long??!"
"Is that why we're all here? What in the.... Oh bloody hell, no, you don't!"

The kijo slammed her fists on the table with righteous anger.
Her face growing animated with disbelief, eyes wandering out of focus
Closing her fists ever so tightly into a ball of fury, grating on her teeth.

"Oi Qian Yen, you came all the way down here to breed horses?"
"What's next? Xun Jiang milking cows and Shan Dian feeding the chickens?!"

The kijo began chuckling over her head at the ridiculous image.
And suddenly choked on her laughter as if some grim thought appalled her.

"I ain't going to be a farmer, you hearing me?! You hearing me?!"
The kijo stood up, backing up slowly from the table, eyes watching the group
With a disgusted face as if they have been stricken by some contagious plague.
