"Ahh that's a relief..." Ba smiled.

"My Lord is concerned if our manuver in Jibei disturbed the peace in Jiaodong. Our campaign against Tian Dan was an unfortunate result of many mistrusts from the King. However much to our regret our campaign in Jibei isn't over yet. Although we succesfully managed to prevent the treacherous Lord of Donga to Join forces with King Tian, the manner he exhibited on the battlefield showed us that he is indeed a threat."

"I hope that Jiadong could understand our situation."

(OOC: What the hell? I swear I already wrote a reply at least 3 times...)

Considering the Envoy's words, Chen Yun begins his reply."While I understand that you wish to remove the threat of Lord Cai, I would ask that you do not kill him and his men, should your battle with him continue. While he did join my enemy, I understand his reasons for doing so, and as such I can forgive him for doing so. He also made an interesting person to talk to, at least I found him that way. In exchange, I would be willing to send aid in any endeavour against Tian Dan, or any other force that may pose a problem, provided I am able to reach them and not otherwise occupied."

To Yun's request, Ba was thinking for a while.

"Very well, I promise I'll emphasize your proposal in my report to my Lord. Although I doubt King Tian Dan would dare such speculation, but if the forces of Qi ever threatened Jiaodong please do not hesitate to send a word to us. If we are capable to do so, we'll do everything in our power to help Jiaodong."

Ba bowed down to Chen Yun, "When Jibei had been stabilized, perhaps by then I could come again to talk about our forces relationship further. I am sorry but I don't have the priviledge of time right now, so I must immediatetely take my leave."

"I thank you for your kind and warm welcome Marshal Chen, please send my regard and wish of well being to Marquis."

"Very well. I shall have my men escort you back the way you came, and you can pick up anything the guards thought to be dangerous. I hope to hear from you or your Lord soon."

-=Once more, the red clad precession of the merchant prince Shanghu enters a city at the bequest of a Marquis. The lavish palanquin moves smoothly through the crowded streets, for what citizen would bar armed passage? The brisk morning air snaps the blood color standards marching at the head of the procession, adding a quick snare rhythm to the beat of marching feet.

Arriving at the grand Audience hall of the Marquis, Shanghu exits his palanquin once the step is unfolded. Today, the Grand Merchant is dressed in stunning emerald, sharply embroidered with spun gold thread in the shapes of small taels. A cloth-of-gold sash cinches tightly around his waist, holding his traveling robes closed against the slight chill. Taking his ivory cane from the waiting attendant, Shanghu does not wait for Daiyu to approach, knowing her presence with him is an understood fact.

He steps towards the guards, his attendant scurried forward, his master's ledger clutched in his hands along with the letter that brought them to Gaomi today. Quickly, the servant places the letter in Shanghu's waiting hand, who then turns to hand it to the ranking guard on duty.=-
"I am Grand Merchant Shanghu. I arrive in Gaomi at the personal invitation of Marshal Yun. You will find his seal, and written word here.."-=he says, waggling the rolled scroll towards the guard. He had seen some dim soldiers recently, and took no chances this time.=- "Announce me, for the Marshal, and indeed the Marquis, and I have business to discuss and each second cuts into my profits."

Daiyu goes through her usual motions of securing the security of her master as they move through the city and then when he exits his palanquin. She sets the other guards on post as they move to meet with the Marquis and hopes this time that some idiot guard does not irritate Shanghu. The man only tolerated idiocy for so long and she did not wish to see his temper raise. She stands quietly next to him as he speaks with the guards, watching everything around them as she should.

The guards may have been common soldiers, but Chen Yun knew that if they were to be letting in visitors, at least some would need to know how to read. At present, 40% of the guards knew how, and the Guard Captain made sure at least two men from each watch were proficient enough to verify the authenticity of letters. As such, they knew it to be legitimate, and due to special orders from the Marshal, they were to forgo the standard search this time. While it was an odd order, they nevertheless complied, for while the Marshal was an amicable person who understood failure couldn't always be prevented, he didn't take disobedience well, especially when it came to orders being ignored. Perhaps this was some sort of test for them, who really knew other then the Marshal, or perhaps the Marquis?

"We have orders to allow you in immediately, and to ignore the standard search procedure, though we'll have to insist that your entourage remain behind, though you can take one or two of them with you. If that suits you, then you can follow me to the Audience chamber."

-=Shanghu smiles at the guard, genuine seeming and cheerful.=- "Certainly sir, your do your master proud in your attention to duty. Here, a tael for your skill." -=Fishing into his robes, he extracts a single golden coin, flipping it to the guard with a casual snap of his finger. ((-1 gold to Shanghu)) He taps his cane quickly on the ground, calling his servants to attention.=- "To put to rest any fears you may harbor, Daiyu will leave her hammer with my palanquin, that you have little to fear from her might."

-=Knowing his instructions would be followed, Shanghu followed the guard inside, his slave and servant following close behind.=-

Sitting in his customary chair, behind a temporary desk, is one Chen Yun, Marshal of Jiaodong. Upon seeing his guest arrive, Chen Yun put away what he was working on and addresses him. "Ah, welcome Master Shanghu, please take a seat."

Chen Yun, was of course refering to the chairs he had recently had brought in, as while military types were used to standing, the more civil types would prefer to sit.

"I take it you are here about my letter. As we are both busy men, I'll get straight to the point. I wish for you to work for the Marquis and me here in Jiaodong. I have made great efforts to increase productivity here in Jiaodong so that I could hire men of talent such as yourself, so if you would name your price, I'll be able to see if I can indeed afford your services. I shall not go on about the good of the people or such, as that is usually little more then an excuse for those with power to do what they want."

"Good day Marshal Yun. I am glad to find you in fair health and of plain language. It makes negotiations smoother. To business then.

I would like to make one thing perfectly clear: I am not seeking a place within your administration. I already am employed full time in my commercial interests.

What I do offer, is contractual services. For a reasonable fee, I will place my services at your disposal. I hold no political motivations or allegiances, and you can be assured of my discretion in all things."
