We should be pressing on past Sai after this month." He sipped at his tea. "Everything is going according to plan in the West and South, actually. It is refreshing, to say the least." He reached into his robe and pulled out a large sack of something metallic. "A gift from Yong, Marquis. So you continue to rule justly, and capably."

1500 Gold worth of stuff!

"Is there any other service I can provide, or shall we speak more of formalizing our alliance?" He smiled, and was quick to get to the meat of his visit.

Lak had some attendants come and secure the small treasure.

"Hopefully, I can provide you with some similar news about the north soon enough. Actually, I might need some support more on the information side of things, if you have some agents not yet assigned, I could use some assitance in that regard."

"My agents are unwelcomed in your neck of the woods. The only Brother here is General Zhao, an upright and just man, unfit for that sort of work, unfortanant though that may be." He said simply, sipping at his tea. "For now, all I can offer is money. I do hope it will be enough."

Lak shook his head.

"Oh no, not that kind of agent, that is way beyond my hopes at this point. I speak of men able to provide me with information of a much higher level. I am blind to those in the north that oppose me except for what is in Jibei. My own agents will be gathering what they can, but it seems there are too many places and so little time."

"We are not as shadowy or sneaky as others expect- none of my men are trained in espionage, Marquis. I am unable to offer any assistance at this time." He said with a sad smile. "I am sure the invincible armies of Yan can do without. They are an army without equal."

Lak shrugged.

"That is unfortunate, I have my own network of spies, intelligence on our opponents is a great part of our success, we simply have never met an opponent with such a vast territory. It is trivial, the brotherhood has already provided more than expected to help us in our ambitions."

Lak turned to see if Khan had anything to add. The big man seemed anxious to return to Jibei already.

Khan nodded. "Good. The people of Yan cry out for the return of the lands taken from them by the foul alliance of those who claimed to be friends. The weapons you forge will help us with that."

He eyed the merchants bodyguard appreciatively, nodding to himself as he took in her fine warrior female form.

Vo and Phai

As Ke Ne first entered, Khan bowed respectfully to the man, but not as deeply as he would bow to the Marquis.

"Ave, good Brother." he says before rising with a smile. "It is good to be around a person who speaks my birth tounge, foul as it may be compared to the language of this land. I am glad you were able to arrive peacefully. The forces of Lu Ying and her foul allies have made travel dangerous these days."

With that, he stood off to the side, waiting to be spoken to as needed. While the Marquis and the Brother talked about potential future alliances, he spoke up.

"While you may not be able to lend agents in that, we should prepare discussions concerning a strike against the foul Lu Ying together. She is a thorn in both your sides, milord, Brother. Perhaps a concentrated blow at the right time to shatter her forces between you?"

Lak laughed.

"I don't know what our esteemed guest thinks, but Lu Ying is nothing more than a mere puppet. She has never stood on her own, hiding behind her lover and now behind the one that destroyed his kingdom. We could best her army in battle with half her force, if even that much would be needed. The real threat his Yin, as everyone will now realize as they turn their greedy eyes north."

"As you say milord. You know more of the greater politics then I. I just.... tire of these backstabbing dishonorable fools!" he rasps out, his voice choking with rage.

"My forces are in Di, and Sai, Brother Zhao." He continued in Chinese, "and many of my mercenaries are otherwised employed, or have joined Lin Xin and Rui Jiao Jin. It would be months marching through peaceful provinces, of which there are none, to be able to strike Yin or her. With the fighting- I cannot give you aid yet, Brother, Marquis, in the form of troops. Take heart in that another of your cities may be employed ronuding up men as oppose to gold, as our finances assist you. Until we have secured our target, and deposed the false emperor, I cannot assist you. Yin has no desire to help the false emperor, but I am sure they will strike the second we have taken Henan unless you are pressing against them. Therefore, you must strike against them, and avenge the loss at Jibei. Yin/Chu will matter little once we have them encircled, Marquis."

He looked to Zhao, and spoke in unaccented Latin. "It has been too long, Brother, since I used this tongue. Will you please speak with me after this meeting? We have much to discuss."
