You should be slapped silly with a rubber chicken for never have played the Suikoden series. It took over the reins of fantasy rpg after FF VII came out, that piece of junk. You should seriously play the old games.

DQ always had the reigns of fantasy RPG!

I like this snippet on FF;

...the cold castle walls and fairytale romance of the 16 bit SNES RPG pantheon was swept aside in one final fantasy and the fairytale RPG lineage broken off and largely discarded in favour of angst-pouting Japanese teenage protagonists, nu-metal guitars and storylines built from sixth-form metaphysical nonsense.

Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne

If anyone knows anything about that game, speak up, if ya don't, try to learn. Its a very good game for anyone who likes its style, I think it can best be compared to the Final Fantasy games. Kinda adventure / turn based fighting type game things. Pretty fun game, however its Cel-shaded... still cool.

Shin Megami Series = best, after i began to play them i fell in love.Nocturne is like unique game with unique story and endings regardless of things you choose.Like the world is destroyed and new world must be created and its up to you to create new world. Though others want to create their own world also.In Shin Megami Series, you are able to speak with demons [employ them to party] transform in demons, combine demons to create new one.In Nocturne you are able to employ or create around <100 demons. Nocturne is long game around hrm 70 hours maybe, with unique plot and events. It isn't so stylish as Digital Devil Saga, but it still has something that will keep you playing.

I just picked up Mercenaries for the PS2 this past week. I enjoyed it a lot. The graphics are suprisingly good when you take in the fact that it's on the PS2 and it's such a large free roam map. The war torn Korean enviroment is also very well done. It features a mix of serene farmlands, cities that have been battered by the effects of war, detailed army outposts, etc. The audio is okay, I personally turned the music all the way down and simply listened to the background sounds. One of the big hooks is that every man made structure in the game is destructible. It's called Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, and boy does it deliver that. The game is filled with mouth wattering explosions, and the environment is truly your playground of destruction. In the end I'd give it a 4/5.
