"It sounds like you should not pursue anything with too much zeal, as you don't sound like you have a solid direction of where you want to go yet. Studying will help you find your calling I suppose."

He took another drink from the cup and observed his surroundings as he thought of how he should reply. There were a group of young thug types sitting at the bar, and he continued observing them as he continued his response.

"I am happy with my station, but I know I would be happier with more. More power, more respect. I have confidence in myself, and I think I can do great things for this kingdom if they let me. I have led men in combat before, and I can tell you it is... exciting."

He paused briefly as one of the young men turned around and looked back at him. The two men stared at each other until the young man broke his gaze and turned away. Su only smirked, and turned back to Jang.

"Have you always been stationed in Chu?"

jang could not help but turn and glance to where his friend was staring. he noticed the thugs, but it was hardly soemthing uncommon in a city of the capitals size. even with the imperial guards patrolling the streets riff raff always finds a way into even the smallest holes. nonetheless jang gave the thugs some acknowledgment for seeming to peek the ire of his new friend. when ma su asked his new question to jang something sparked inside him. his face went white and he looked down into his tea cup as id searching for soemthing.

"hmm, well.......no. i was born in chu in a small village, then i joined the rebellion when it first took place. haha i was even one of the men who burnt some of the food when we crossed the river to fight Zhang Han...like wise i was there when we killed all of Zhang hans men...and even when we burnt the city of Xian Yang. its a strange feeling, when you kill an opposing soldier you dont have much feeling form it, maybe your happy maybe your numb. but when my blade sunk into a sleeping solder or watching a building burn because you were ordered to set it. then watch the family of that home stand by and watch.......its not the same, its much darker."

jang took a moment and took a sip of his tea to try and move the topic.

"but in any case i arrived with the main army when we moved back here to the capital. so i suppose just a few months have i been here."

"Very purple, it's good to know." She looked him up and down now, continuing to smile at him. "You speak words but no intentions. Garbled in the lack of sound. Are you sure it is not I that may help you?" She stopped for a moment then moved very close to the man, and drew her face near his neck, and began to smell him. She drew back to an acceptable distance, and looked at the man. "You smell of red, red like blood. My name is Tai Ju Li, and it is good to meet you Red like Blood." She bowed a little bit, but not so formal as one might expect in court.

She stared around at the people in the streets, then her smile faded.

"The people here don't look right, lost in thought, lost in time. I wonder how much time until they're found?" She snapped back to the man before her, her smile returning. "So what is it I can do for you sir Red?" She tilted her head still smiling.

Zhuwen of course did not believe that the woman had the capabilities to smell blood on hm. She probably was able to tell he was a warrior by his attire. But Zhuwen decided he would humor the woman. Looking at her face and scanning her down, he could see that she was even more beautiful up close.

"I don't know about the people here," Zhuwen replied, not really caring to know what she meant. "But how about you and I go for a nice walk, have a nice dinner, and find a nice comfortable inn? All the treat of Sir Red of course."
Patricoo wrote:Deep in the Chu province there is a village abound with gossip of excited villagers. An old dilapidated home was thought to be forever abandoned on it's hill, left to rot and collapse in the coming years. Without warning, however, a dozen men came to the home and began reconstructing the outer wall, restoring the inside and creating a fresh garden. What once became a broken house grew into a study estate in what seemed like overnight. This came to be quite the surprise to the townsfolk who curiously spent their free time examining what new arrival could be held responsible.

For three days many peered over the wall or through the gate for some answers. It was only until a carriage appeared at the estate until it was revealed. Out of which stepped the one most beautiful women in the whole of China dressed in the most ornately crafted clothing which only the hands of the Heavens could create. Cai Rui, using perfect posture to glide from ride to gate, felt the gaze of curious eyes and turned to meet those who watched. With a playful smile, Rui met their looks and bowed her head. Immediately the men slinked a way, flushed with embarrassment. What was such a treasure doing in a shanty place like this!

In fact, Cai Rui was not a country bumpkin and seemed forced to remain in such an out-of-the-way place. She very much enjoyed taking numerous trips to the city using her networking and astounding charm to worm her way into high class banquets and special rooms for cultured members of society. There was little she enjoyed more then to mingle with the most noble of people and they paid their respects in return. Being a charming young lady in this age was quite the wedge in the door and young Rui knew how to harness this advantage.

Of course, despite knowing how to reach the edge inner circles was different from being included in them. The truly powerful people were the ones arranging such banquets and owning the venues, not the ones attending. It was her goal in this attempt to gain reputation to be amiable and welcoming to those who had an elevated public standing. Be it at her house or in a noble's gathering she would openly take the time to meet and discuss the world around them.

Open RP (potentially for more then one person at different times.)
All Zhuwen needed to know about Cai Rui was that she was one of the most beautiful woman around the area, maybe even the whole land, and Zhuwen quickly made it his goal to journey to the small village of nowhere. Dressed in simple clothing with light armor, there wasn't any assurance that he would be permitted to see this woman. Yet, what kind of man would he be if he didn't try? He had conquered a few women before that people deemed impossible, and even almost paid with his life when he slept with daughters and wives of nobles. He had made it a goal in his life: to never give up on a beautiful woman until everything was tried. In short, Zhuwen was a damn pervert.

Asking around the small village, it was quite easy to gain the directions to the whereabouts of Cai Rui as she seemed to be quite famous. Finding the location, Zhuwen walked in front of the guards and greeted them with a smile.

"Yo, can I see Lady Cai Rui?"

She did run her fingers down his arm as she passed back in front of him. Her back was still to him, as if something had caught her attention in the street the way she'd come from.

"People look behind them, hoping to learn something. I find it funny, all I see is another path ahead of me." She shook her head at the idea. "Silly little rabbits, lost in the cabbage patch." She mused to herself, but had yet to turn back to face this man.

'just what in the bloody hells am i doing here...'
the kijo began to ask herself as if it already forgotten
it could hear some scuffling noise going on about her
raising its head up, the kijo began to look around
only to find something that made her chuckle~

she was slowly being dragged by her horse..

with a rope tied around her left foot
and the ground crawled beneath her body..
no wonder her back is killing her so much..
for she was circling round and round the open air inn~!

the kijo can't help itself but laugh a rich, melodious laugh
making guttural sounds on its throat as it held her tummy
for it could not remember why she was tied to her horse~
tears rolled down her cheeks as she began to die laughing

which is why it haven't heard a single thing of what Qian Yen said...

Letter to the Unborn

the kijo was staring at the big empty sky
stabbing it relentlessly with a hard gaze
as if wanting it to crack wide and fall
to burst open into pieces like glass shards
and shower them with a rain of death~

it slowly made a feral grin at that one
that would be beautiful.. very beautiful~

but just as soon as the smile came to her
just as soon did it end... turning to an ugly frown
the kijo had been trying to amuse herself for some time
for the boredom is slowly choking her and so

..gripping her neck, wanting her to truly die~

  • JIN KAZAMA!

Zhou Yuan laughed slightly at Ma Su’s comments concerning the impressiveness of his sword skills, it was nice to be complimented by a warrior, even if the warriors following statement was a little harsh. Ziyang was by no means a weakling, not anymore, but he understood where Su was coming from. Perhaps one day, after rigorous training and mentoring from his childhood friend, combined with experience on the battlefield, Ziyang could back the flashy tricks up with raw power. Smiling he nodded in response to Ma’s statement, indicating that he agreed with his observations. As the conversation continued Zhou found himself feeling rather nervous around his old friend. Ma Su had never listened to him as intently as he did now; it rather felt like he was in an interrogation and as Ma Su voiced concerns over Ziyang’s loyalty, the young commander to began to feel rather hurt. They had known each other for more years than he could remember and now they had a chance to make something of themselves Ma was unwilling to share in the glory. Biting his bottom lip he contemplated Ma’s words.

So they were to pledge their lives to each other? Become the one body before Ma could divulge his plans and ambitions to him. Ziyang’s eyes followed Ma’s daggers path, from its secret hiding place all the way to his right hand. Sighing Zhou allowed his mind to wander, they had been in this position before, many years ago, before Ma Su had left for the capital. Ziyang had not been ready for such a huge commitment back then, but now, he agreed with Su. Only if they joined their souls in brotherhood could they fulfil their ambitions, they could not achieve success alone, Su needed Ziyang and Ziyang needed Su. Delving into his long, black flowing robes, Zhou withdrew his own ceremonial dagger. It had belonged to his father and other than the farm, it was the only possession of note that the man had left to him. It had sealed an oath before, long before he was born between his father and his mothers brother, that was probably the last time it had been used. The silver blade gleamed as the candle lights caught the blade, revealing ancient characters etched into its side. Grasping the handle tightly in his left hand Ziyang brought the blade to his right, pressing it against the skin of his right palm. Gazing up at Ma, Ziyang spoke, Su’s determined gaze met with one of similar intensity:

“You and I have always been brothers in my heart, from the moment we met on the outskirts of our small village, to the day that you left Wei in pursuit of glory, till the day that I make my journey to the nine springs. If a simple oath is all that you require from me to have you feel the same way then I would gladly make it one hundred times over.”

Ziyang’s eyes narrowed as his blade slowly began to cut through the skin of his right palm, small droplets of blood dripping down his hand as he continued to speak. All the while his eyes never left Ma Su’s:

“Let the gods be our witnesses, that today on this night, Zhou Yuan Ziyang and Ma Su, although we do not share the same bloodline, wish to be joined together in brotherhood. Let our souls be one and give us the strength to achieve whatever it is we pursue. Together we can protect those whom we love and only when we are together will the other be whole. Let I, Zhou Yuan Ziyang of Wei, be struck down dead if I betray my brothers trust. Let me feel heavens wrath should I ever be tempted to abandon my brother, Ma Su....”

With one quick movement, Ziyang brought the ceremonial blade down quickly, slicing open his right hand. Blood flowed freely but the young man seemed unfazed by it. Clenching his right hand into a fist, Ziyang continued:

“Though we are from humble beginnings and have no animals of note to sacrifice in heavens honour, let this sacrifice of blood seal our oath....”

Ziyang sheathed his dagger, wiping it on a white silk handkerchief before concealing it in his robes. Once the oath was sealed there was no going back. Zhou gazed at Ma intently, his full attention given to the man whom he now considered a brother.

[暗兵] - Flash of Darkness

Leaning against one of the inn's supporting pillars just a few paces away from Qian Yen with his arms crossed was Shan Dian, a masked man with a piercing stare and eyes that almost seemed red under the right lighting. In his left hand was a long object of the darkest black - Yingzi, the sword of shadows and Shan Dian's most trusted tool in taking another's life. Though he was travelling with his most trusted partners and comrades, the strange aura of bloodlust and death that was radiating off of him did not seem any weaker than when Shan Dian is at his most bloodthirsty moments. Almost suffocating was this aura that other regular patrons of the inn began to distance themselves from the entourage of dangerous looking invdividuals. Not one for many words, Shan Dian usually left the talking to Qian Yen unless his input was neccessary. Still leaning against the pillar, true signs of life in the form of movement returned to Shan Dian as he pushed himself off of the pillar to stand up straight. "Tch! Who would come this far to Chu with us only to give up now? Save your breath Qian Yen, we're all with you on this one." Shan Dian's voice was deep and rough, almost frightnening in a way that even in his tone of voice he seemed to be ready to kill. Whatever sort of life that could have ingrained this into a man's very flesh and blood seemed to be a prospect that was all the more frightnening as their bloodlust and malice flowed, mixed, and amplified each other's.

Rue

Ma Su listened and nodded a few times

"I very much understand your feelings. However, as a soldier you have to get used to such things. It sounds like you have seen more of the... unglorious side of things. I have only had to burn bandit encampments and engage enemies in battles. I was oftentimes ordered to move on before any massacres had to take place. But it is necessary to make sure the enemy never rises again."

He looked back at the thugs, who were whispering amongst each other. They soon started harassing the barmaid. He continued, still observing.

"Maybe if you and I go on an expedition together, you will not have to be caught up in that sort of thing. Being a cavalry officer has its benefits: just attack the enemy and move on. Infantry has to deal with mop up a lot of the time."

He clicked his tongue to get the thugs' attention. The barmaid ran off into the kitchen, taking advantage of the situation. He was in a good mood, and drinking, fooling around with women, and fighting were often the results of such a happy disposition.

"Hey, you guys. There's no loitering around here. I suggest you leave."

Being an Imperial officer had its perks.

"Why don't you mind your business, tough guy. We're just enjoying drinks."

Not even drunk, Ma Su stood up and clenched his fists, with a grin on his face.

"Care to join me, friend Jang? These guys need to understand they can't be disturbing the peace like this."
-------------------------------------
Mat the Histrionic

Ma Su had always considered Ziyang as a little brother, at least a great friend, and even though they had had such a close relationship, Su still did not feel comfortable talking with someone outside his family about things of this nature. He subconsciously thought that if Ziyang would not agree to this, as he did not last time, that he would never be able to trust him. But it seemed that things had now come full circle.

No doubt he was pleased and impressed by the zeal Ziyang showed, saying the words with determination and a tinge of pride it seemed to Su. Su also began to cut into his palm as Ziyang did, maintaining his stony expression, his eyes alit by the candle's flame. The glint that his own knife gave off would reveal nothing of note written on it or done to it, but its history traced back far into the past, further than Ziyang's most likely. It had been in the Ma family beyond written record, and had killed more men and sealed more oaths than could be recounted. Its beauty lay in its simplicity, to be sure.

As Ziyang finished his oath, Su replied with a voice that seemed to emerge from the very depths, heard up to now only by those who faced immediate death at Su's hands during battle

"The blood that now flows from our hands signifies our eternal devotion to each other's lives and promise to be allied always. I, Ma Su of Wei, son of Ma Zhao, recognize Zhou Yuan Ziyang as a brother, and we will now and always, uphold, protect and safeguard this immutable bond. Our minds and souls are now one, and an offense against one of us is an offense against both. Let our enemies be put down with great brutality should they try to challenge this most holy of fellowships."

In a flash Su's blade cut a diagonal line of crimson across his hand, the blood trailing along the length of his arm. Sheathing his knife in turn, Su did not seem fazed at all by the cut, having borne a countless number of gashes and bruises in the past. His left hand free, he grabbed Ziyang's hand and clasped their two bloodied palms together. He continued

"Let the gods remember that it was this day that Ma Su and Zhou Yuan Ziyang became the same man. The same man, with the same purpose, forged in a time of chaos and uncertainty. Let this bond be one that sets the world right once more."

As Ma Su finished his oath, he pulled Ziyang towards him, their hands still clasped together, probably crushing Ziyang's due to Su's intensity, and hugged him for a few moments. As they parted, their hands were still held together, as Ma Su said

"And it is done."

His stony expression softened, and he smiled. He was very pleased, probably the happiest he'd been in the past few months, if not the past few years.

"We will speak on the matter in the morning. Tonight we shall drink, rest, and muse."

Luo Xiao wrote:"A Changha battle maiden, eh? I must confess to having a certain fascination with strong-spirited women. Plus, you and I have never been much good with a bow. We could use the help on our hunts, little brother," Xiao half said, half chuckled.

"There's a good chance the King will send us somewhere if he grants us troops. I'm not sure how feasible it is to request a locationi, but if the situation permits it I might mention Changsha. We can secure the area and pick up wives in the same go. Not all spoils of war are fashioned with smith hammers, after all."
Again Jian smiled. For even if they never made it to Changsha it pleased him to know that Xiao would consider it, which meant that he was, at least somewhat, taken seriously. "Well, I'm in no hurry to find a woman. I have too much ahead of me to waste time with romance, but it would be something worth seeing, if only to go to a far off place like that," he said in a whimsical tone.

For a moment his expression changed to a serious one. He looked back up at Xiao and said, "of course I want us to go where we'll have the best chance of making a name for ourselves. Don't go picking somewhere like Changsha just because your little brother thinks it might be fun. After all, you're the responsible one for a reason."

...What? was all Zhuwen could think. Perhaps Tai's words would have some significant meaning to an intelligent man, but Zhuwen was not one of those. He was beginning to think that the woman may have been off her rocks and there were a few screws loose in her head. He rubbed his chin, observing Tai back as she observed him. No matter, freaks were sometimes better in bed. Walking next to the girl, he placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Okay, so you want to go for a walk, and you want dinner, but no action. Normally I'd refuse, but since you're so damn beautiful, I'm just going to pretend it isn't a one-sided deal. And you don't think I'm good enough for you at the moment, but I might be in the future? Good enough for me!" It was probably not what Tai meant, but Zhuwen assumed it was.

"So then, why don't we go walk outside the village, where it's less noisier, less smelly, more peaceful? You can tell me more about... Errr... Rabbits and all that while we're walking. And don't worry, I'm not the type of guy to force women on me, that's just for savages."

Sweet heavens, she's better looking than I imagined! Zhuwen thought when he finally saw the lady he had been looking for. His eyes turned to the other younger men around the house. These boys don't stand a chance with the likes of me. Good, there isn't going to be any competition. Zhuwen looked back at the lady.

"Yes, of course. Now you see, I was just wandering about Chu and I happened to hear about a certain gorgeous woman around the province. So I decided to pay the woman a visit, and damn, the woman turns out much more beautiful that I had expected." Zhuwen gave his smile, the smile he used to charm most of the women he encountered. "I was wondering if this woman would like to do anything with me. Anything."
