"What do you mean? There aren't many girls out there with your kind of skill. I'd come by here every day if I actually lived in Qi." He smiled and watched as she pulled the cloth to reveal the blade. "May I?" De Man held out his hand and took the spear to examine it for himself. The expression on his face gave away what he was feeling, for looking at the weapon brought a sense of pure delight. "I love it, it's perfect."

Backing up from the counter, De Man held the spear in his left hand, his dominant hand, and gave a few quick thrusts outward. If there was enough room, he might have given Mai Zu a short show by performing a fancy spin move, but given that he didn't want to break anything in her shop he figured it probably wasn't a very good idea. "It's well weighted too, nice and even." Running his fingers over the hilt, he gently sat it back on the counter so she could cover the blade with a cloth.

"Oh, I almost forgot." De Man dug in his armor and produced a very tattered book. It was barely held together by 3 pieces of string and the pages were torn and coming apart. "When I went back home, I found this amongst the rubble of my old manor. I'm pretty sure it was my fathers, he was an expert on Qiangshu. What do your orders look like? Think you have time to fix this up for me?"

Zu smiled as he held the weapon, expressing his love for it. Watching him move around with it, expressing how well it was weighted, made her exceptionally happy with her work. As he returned it to the counter, she put the cloth back on, tying it safely in place. As he spoke again, and produced the book for her, she held her hands out for it. It was certainly in bad shape, but as she gently flipped through the pages, she realized it wasn't far from repair. Nodding, she smiled and set it down.

Mai Zu: "Well, this is certainly doable... As it is, I will be able to do it in April at the earliest. Is that acceptable?"

Mai Zu receives 225 gold to make the tattered book a +3 Judge Book! (assuming April is acceptable)

"I knew you were the person to take it to." He smiled and reached for the spear, dragging it off the counter and propping it up at his side. He used it to leverage himself on while he watched her look over the book. There was something about a woman who was independent and working that just drove him crazy. It was too bad they were so far away. When she spoke, he looked up. "April is fine. I know it seems like I spend a lot of money, but it gives me a reason to come back and see you every now and then." De Man laughed and righted himself. "But, I better be off again." He turned to leave and waved a goodbye. "See you next month for that other book!"

Zu smiled, crossing her hands in front of her as her face flushed. What a charmer, she thought as he continued speaking. As he prepared to leave, she nodded and spoke.

Mai Zu: "See you next month then."

She waved goodbye, and after he left, she brought the book out again and began writing. She glanced at the tattered one she now had, sighing slightly.

Mai Zu: "It wouldn't have to be now and then if you live in Qi my friend."

She then turned back to her writing.

Mai Zu crinkled her nose slightly, but only for a moment before explaining.

Mai Zu: "My only issue with putting aside the time, ahead of time, without your payment is what if i get another customer, who has his money and wishes to pay for my time that month? I would hate to lose a costumer who can pay at the time, because i'm holding a spot for someone who hasn't paid yet. My time is limited each month, unfortunately... perhaps someday i'll be able to hire another scribe to work for me."

Pausing for a moment, she bit her lip, before continuing.

Mai Zu: "However, if you'd like to make a down payment, of say 100 gold, i will hold my first spot in April for you. Assuming you come back and pay whatever is required then ((Before the April PT is due), for whatever services you need, the down payment will count towards that.... In this way, I won't lose out on a customer, you won't miss out on your spot in line, and you'll be able to decide later if you wish to purchase something better or not. Does that sound fair?"

Xin couldn't help but smile when the pretty craftswoman crinkled her nose. Though he is happily married, there is something about pretty women that make him a little easier to handle. With a nod, he said, "Well, you do have a point. Here is 100 gold. I will provide the other 100 gold come the end of May then?"

Mai Zu brought out her book and quickly wrote him in for May, a tentative book of medium caliber unless he wished to change it when he came to pay for the rest of it in May.

Mai Zu: "Alright, you're all set. I'll see you in May and you can let me know what you'd like me to make then and finish the payment."

She smiled once again.

Mai Zu was in the workshop behind the main counter, just out of view of the shop. A natural sense for when someone was around sparked in her mind and she set down the weapon she was working on. Stepping back into the shop, she found a man looking at the pictures of her horses, just on the other side of the counter. She smiled, smoothing the clothes she wore as she spoke and approached.

Mai Zu: "Welcome to Mai Zu's Shop of Wonder. I am Mai Zu; is there anything I can help you with? I couldn't help but notice you were looking at the horses I have to offer."

She smiled sweetly, tucking a bit of hair behind her ear.
