Pan Dao bowed slightly and said, "I am sorry for the misunderstanding. At times I foolishly jump to the wrong conclusion. But, you understand, times are very dangerous here and we are somewhat suspicious."

His tone became more businesslike and he said, "I am sure that the King would wish for you to ensure that the province in the vicinity of your village remains free of crime. We would, of course, like trade in the Province to improve! Safety is important. Was there anything you needed beyond this?"
Ran Tu Hui sighed a little as Pan Dao became more at ease. "No, thank you. That is sufficient. Thank you for granting me audience, Pan Dao."

The Guard eyed the letter curiously but said only, "If you agree to a search you will be taken to the King's audience hall. Or," he paused looking at the letter again, "Is there someone else you wish to see?"
"I will submit to a search!" He said handing over his axe, "I would like to see any with diplomatic authority..."

"Ah, Lu Ying is it? what do you here? I believe you wished to see me?"
"Yes, I am Lu Ying" The woman said, introducing herself for the northern general, before going on. "You may or may not have heard of me, I am the leader of a mercenary group of some renown her in Zhao." She said with a smile, letting the man think a moment, and maybe even figure out that General Ying was being rather conservitive by calling herself a mercenary... more like bandit to be truthful.

"You see" she started up again. "Myself and my followers have come to pledge our loyalty to the true leader of Zhao. While it may be below you to sign agreements with lowly groups like mine, maybe we could come to an informal arangement."

"You see" she said again, this time pausing a little before going on" There are things groups like mine need but cant get ourselves, be it from lack of skills or access to masses of people, and then there are things we can do for you, like solidify your position of..... King of Zhao?"

With that last sentance Lu Ying grinned, hoping the mans reaction would be favorable.

Wu Chen looks up quickly from the map he was studying as he registered the words coming out of this womans mouth. Looking at her closely and a frown appearing on his face he turns fully torwards her.

"Lu Ying, I am the Marquis of Zhao, not....king.....I am a loyal officer of the King of Chu, Chen Sheng. I tell you now stop uttering those, traitorous thoughts, if you come here to offer me loyalty in my current rank then that seems, good by me."

Still looking intently at the woman he wonders if she will have the good sense to shut up before he was forced to take action to silence her.

Jun was led to the audience hall of Chen She. It was quiet in the hall and there were only two men present. The servant announced Jun and bowed to one of the men.

Chen She nodded to the visitor and looked at him carefully. So many people had come to Chen since he'd become King of Chu. He'd seen neighbors and relatives from his village and people he knew from neighboring villages. This man seemed much like many of them.

After a moment he spoke, "I am Chen Sheng and this is Zhuang Jia. Have you come to Chen seeking work?"
"Work? Well, I believe His Highness may consider that among my intentions," Jun answered, bowing respectfully as he did so. "But more importantly, I seek to swear allegiance to a liege who can pierce the veil of my youth and in so doing, regard this physician his second in the conduct of the state's affairs."

Xiang Jun spied Zhuang Jia but quickly reverted his gaze back to the King, "Send me to the battlefield as your High Commander or keep me in your capital as your Chief Minister. Either way, rest assured that these matters will be properly taken care of in the most effective and efficient manner."

Pan Dao looked at his visitor thoughtfully. He knew that the King of Chu desired the defeat of the hated Qin. On the other hand he did not think that the new King wanted to share any power he gained. But it was not necessarily important to make such distinctions now.

"I am sure that the King would be pleased to see you drive the Qin dogs from your lands! The enemies of his enemy are now his friends." He had chosen his words with, he thought, care.
Kai smiled with glee, "Thank you so very much! The people of Liang and I are grateful for your friendship. I trust you will communicate my gratitude to the King?" he asked, sensing that the King was too busy at this time to meet.

Chen She nodded with sympathy. He motioned for a servant to bring wine for his guest and said, "Of course you wish to fight the Qin dogs! So many men sent, as they say, to gather firewood and then broken on the wall or in some other project. All should want to fight."

A servant presented a cup of wine to Niu Xiong and Chen She motioned the man to join him in a quieter part of the hall. He said, "The Qin are clever dogs," he began. With a look at his visitor he said, "but of course you know that! You wish to join our fight?"
The man flashed a smile as the king spoke. The entire audience did not turn out the way he had thought it would. It had been too long since he interacted with someone he had a liking too. Though his liking to the king was a small one but grew as he spent every second more with him. Patting his thigh three times with his hand gently he nodded. The "fire wood" comment had become obvious to him or so he believed.

"The Qin rule has been too long. The mother of the pack of wolves has died and now its cubs no not what to do. Fighting amongst one another and going all their own direction. I hope that we are able to kill or atleast maim these beasts before their vision clears and they once again unite. If that is to happen.." he said eagerly.

Reaching for the cup presented to him the man took a gulp. His attention quickly diverted as he was motioned to follow the king. Limping after the king he took another sip. After the king had spoke he nodded in approval and spoke.

"The Qin are clever dogs but they are merely that, dogs. I believe that once we too, the people of Chu have united ourselves. It will not be long before the dogs are hunted and killed." he said before pausing and bowing at the waist. "Yes, shall you allow me King Chen Sheng. I wish to serve within your army so that I may help crush the Qin. It is my hope to one day force them to endure the pain they brought upon our people. That is of course should I be permitted.."

edit: Eh. I didn't like how some of it sounded...plus other errors.

Pan Dao, pleased that his misunderstanding had been corrected, smiled and bowed. “Of course, of course,” he said happily, “Is there anything else?”

The guard searched Liu Kang and then called an attendant to escort him into the administration building. Inside, the building was beautiful, though it seemed slightly disordered. The corridors were busy and the floor dirtier than one would expect. Clearly the city of Chen was not quite back to normal after the arrival of the new King of Chu.

The attendant led Liu to a small chamber where a plainly dressed man was working at a low writing desk. Around him were piled maps and scrolls and an attendant knelt nearby. As they entered, Liu was announced and the man rose and bowed.

“I am Pan Dao, what business brings you?”

Chen She had lately been discovering how difficult it was to have things taken care of effectively and efficiently. Wu Guang, who he had relied upon since they’d begun their quest almost by accident, was never around when he needed advice or help. He’d had many ‘old friends’ from the village arrive to give him advice - or merely to gawk at him and tell him how the heavens would punish him for foolishly sticking his neck out.

He looked closely at the man before him. He was young indeed, but appearances could be deceiving. She was, after all, a peasant so he could hardly hold the appearance of youth against the man before him. And, he was a doctor, She had begun feeling a great deal of stress over the decisions he was supposed to make and the way his plans never quite unfolded as he’d hoped.

He said, “You aren’t afraid of battle with the Qin?” The young, he knew, were often brave because they had no experience. Older men were often brave because they had no choice. She had been brave for this reason. Though, he admitted to himself, he was enjoying being King - lots of good food and wine and a comfortable home. It was, he reflected, nice not to work in the fields. “Have you seen a battle?”

Pan Dao nodded immediately, “Of course I will make a full report to the King. He is, at present, involved in a rather extended consultation. Though, of course, if you wish to remain in Chen and come again…?”

Chen She listened carefully as Niu Xiong spoke. He was impressed with the way he spoke, ‘wolves and cubs’ thought She, was a very nice description! He resolved to remember it. So often, when he spoke to people he was uncomfortable with the way he expressed himself. So many of these nobles didn’t recognize stories or sayings that everyone in his village had known before they could run.

“Of course!” said Chen She, “You are a fine and experienced leader - I can tell.” The King nodded sagely to himself. “I will see that you get many opportunities to fight the Qin!”

Kang bowed in an attempt to earn the mans respect, "You may have recently heard of our war efforts north in Yan, though it should not bother this kingdom we hope to open our arms to you and your people and you to us, in a decleration we ask for peace, though we may seem petty and worthless at the moment, we are carving our kingdom and preparing to bring Yan back to its once peaceful state. Though it may not seem worth a bother at the moment, it would grant a mutual respect between the two, we ask for nothing in return but to be recognised and to raise an alliance between our two factions..." Kang immediatly stated, even though before coming his uncle had told him to work on it more slowly and point each fact out more clearly...

The look upon Xiongs face became like that of a child being handed some candy. Happily he raised his cup and gulped down his drink. After he had lowered the cup he raised up the opposite forearm and wiped his mouth clean. A grin now laying upon his face.

"I thank you my King for this opportunity and the ones to come. Though I am not sure that I am the best commander. I assure you that I will fight till my last dying breathe." he spoke softly before using a louder tone. "Let the Qin dogs come! I shall slay them all for my King!" Today was indeed a turn of events for the man.
