"I am terribly sorry to lose my temper like that Grand Duke, however the General's accusation was simply outrageous. It is to my regret that such thing was allowed to happen in our audience."Naxr wrote:He looked directly at the envoy, "Perhaps you can glean some wisdom from the words of the Supreme Commander as well. You say you seek to start a good relationship between Yan and Liang? Then attempt to do so. It would not serve that end to leave now. What do you have to say?"
Ba straightened up himself, "To clarify our position, we, the people of Yan are not in any position of supporting the Qin Dinasty. Further, we never released any statement of our support to the brotherhood. Our conflict with Yin is also an unfortunate turn of events. We simply did not expect the Yin to invade our Jibei holdings."

Ba Zhan snorted, but not loud enough for any to hear. So this man was calling him a liar? Surely, were this anywhere else he would have killed this envoy. After all, his own spies wouldn't lie to him about Yan's political connections...R-Void wrote:"I am terribly sorry to lose my temper like that Grand Duke, however the General's accusation was simply outrageous. Upon that wet, cold, and dark spring day in which most men laid beside a warming fire or huddled around a bar nursing their mugs and swapping stories and seemingly always energetic children imprisoned inside by nagging mothers a small yet orderly progression slowly made it's way throughout the city of Dingtao. With the streets wet from recent rainfall and the air, generally a chorus of scents of cooking foods, animals, and the city itself, a numbing breeze that whispered along the streets and brought a cleansing smell throughout the city it could of almost been called a serene moment as that troop of roughly ten men made their way along those streets. Without obvious haste and high spirits eight men slowly moved along the sides of a small, yet extravagant, carriage of pressed gold and bronze that was led by two small but sturdy stallions of chestnut.
Yet it was amongst those chattering men, each of whom was dressed within a matching uniform of high boots, silken garments dyed a deep brown, and hardened leathers while carrying a single pole of polished wood tipped with a bronze Qiang mounted upon it's tip, sat a single figure which was a bleak contrast to those around him. With a frame both frail and pale to the point of seeming sick he sat a top that carriage's box with those reins grasped within gloved hands. Despite the peaceful and friendly, if not cold, settings however that teamster seemed only capable to scowl as he kept his gaze upon that road while the only words that escaped those lips the occasional command to those horses.
For nearly a hour that procession made it's way throughout those muddy streets while only the rare person dare venture their way back onto those cold streets further adding to the life of that city. However as more and more time was left to pass that carriage found it's progression heading deeper and deeper into that city... and closer to it's goal. Finally though that carriage was left to pull itself in front of that goal and it was pulling upon those reins that teamster finally brought that carriage to a stop before it's goal. The Administrative Center of the Duke of Liang.
Casting but a sideways glance upon those men who escorted the carriage that silent teamster gave a wave of his hand to the most forward soldiers. A silent command that sent them away towards that garrison at the gate while a second wave left another two men rushing towards that carriage's door and their master. Yet it was approaching the gates those two soldiers came to a stop a respectful five foot away. Giving a slight, and awkward bow, those obviously misplaced men looked upon those lightly armed guards. "Umm... I'm here to announce the arrival of my emplo.." one of them began before the second punched him within the arm. Stepping before him he cleared his throat and gave a second, if not even more awkward, bow. "Good day my men. I'm here on behalf of my employer, Lord Wei Huang of Yanyu. He has asked me to inquiry into the fact if the Duke of Liang, Lord Xiang Kai, may be free for a meeting with him. Master Wei has a business proposal for the Duke if he will be heard."

With but another awkward bow given to those guards that soldier who had taken over amongst the two turned upon his heel and began to walk away while a quick look over his shoulder, at his companion, was more than enough to tell him to follow him. Moving away from that lightly armed check point those two men approached the wagon and fell in place around it as those two other attendants seemed to be fighting with something within the door of that carriage, tugging upon it as if to help get it out. Had the men brought some sort of tribute to the Duke of Liang? With several more tugs and a few audible grunts however the two men working upon the carriage's doorway was left to stumble backwards while the large frame of a man seemingly plopped out with them.
Taking a few stumbled steps the red face and flustered Jiàn Chéng Min stood there as he glared upon those two guards. "I said help me up, not kill me." he growled towards them as his dark eyes laid upon them. Yet it was allowing a deep sigh to escape those hams which served as his lips he turned to face that gateway. "So this is the Palace of the Duke of Liang?" that man softly asked more to himself than anything as those chubby fingers slowly played over the front of his massive paunch and smoothed out the wrinkles of his ornate robes of brown silk, it's collar and cuffs trimmed within a soft fur just a tad darker than the silk itself. Turning his attention to lay upon those two returning guards however the piggish Jiàn Chéng Min fell into conversation with those two men... only for a grin to cross those ham hawk cheeks which dripped of his delight. With fingers happily twisting and stroking the hairs of his well trimmed and greased beard he stood there, listening to them while asking but a few questions before turning to face that Administrative Center.
"Give me a hand." he grunted to no one in particular before he began to walk, or more of waddle within a odd sort of way as he extended his leg and shifted his weight forward with it before making another awkward movement with his next. Four of his men quickly falling into place behind him, while the rest tended to the carriage and the teamster's orders, Jiàn Chéng Min silently approached those Palace Guards with a grin only to pause but inches away from them. "Good day!" the red faced man panted before pausing, taking a few moments to regain his composure before continuing. I am Lord Wei Huang. My men tell me the Duke is free to meet with me." he would finally pant out.

"Yes, yes." The guard repeated. "Ummm... Come with me."
He signaled to several of the other guards to accompany, or rather carry if it became necessary, the old man into the audience hall. Assuming the man follows or consents to be carried, he is led through the large doors into the hall. Due to the slow pace, it would take several minutes for the group to find themselves at the entrance to the main room of the audience hall, a cavernous hall flowing with people, civil officials and the like, to and fro. With one guard clearing a path, the group slowly made their way to a point about twenty paces from a dais, where a man sat on a sturdy looking throne. On either side of this man stood many guards, heavily equipped to protect their lord. The guard that had cleared the path bowed before speaking to his liege, "Duke Xiang Kai, Lord Wei Huang here comes to visit."
"Wei Huang? What brings you here to Dingtao on this fine day?" Kai questioned the man, sitting atop his throne.

Grinning Jiàn Chéng Min looked upon those guards before him as his hands constantly lowered down to his long robes and smoothed out their front, somehow believing the tiniest of wrinkles could somehow ruin his 'perfect' appearance. "Pleasant... to hear." he panted out as he watched those guards approach the Administrative Center's doors and open them up, waiting until the very second those doors was open before daring to launch into movement. With those ever awkward slow and far from effective strides that man began to move forward while making a quick, or at least for the sluggish man, movement of his hand that dismissed his men while a panted order of, "Be back within two hours!" was shot towards his men.
Yet it was following those men throughout the Administrative Center, and more than once dallying by drawing attention to some object scene and attempting to bring up scant conversation while in truth drawing in desperate labored breathes, the red faced man continued along with his escort into the personal chambers of the Duke of Liang. Making his way through that throng of people, going as far as to stiff arm those who got within the way of his waddles within the least, the piggish Jiàn Chéng Min slowly approached that dais only to momentarily pause as his attendants stopped. It seemed as if his possible business associate believed himself more than within some measure of risk. A place likely deserved as he sat upon that throne...
Allowing his broad, once well muscled, arm to rise he wiped away the sweat which had begun to glisten upon his face with his sleeve before giving a little sigh. "You, your Lordship." Jiàn Chéng Min softly replied as he lowered his arm, slightly scowling at the wet stain upon his robe... yet it was raising his attention to lay upon the Duke and forcing a grin the former soldier of the Qin Empire couldn't help yet earnestly smile. "My Lordship, I've come a great way within my life. At a time I served as little more than a soldier for the Emperor of the Qin Dynasty and I've lived my days of hardship. I know I far from look of it Duke Xiang Kai yet I've learned more than my fair deal upon the fact that you should revel within life's pleasures while you may. Yet I haven't come here to explain my life's story to you sir, I'm merely a business man far away from his home of Xianyang and even further away from his businesses within Yanyu." he began before pausing, taking a few ragged breathes as he wiped his forehead once again, "Yet I had hoped to surpass that station to sir. I know I may not seem like much, even more so given my past, yet I have come from a family of loyal servants. While many have served the Qin as little more than soldiers or small ranking officers I sir have more to offer to you than my ancestors even could. They may of offered you a sword, something that is easily expendable, yet sir I offer to you my services as both a adviser and administrator Duke Liang." Jiàn Chéng Min boldly stated as his hands folded and brought themselves before his massive stomach.
"I've lived through hell sir and I have no desire to ever see it again. I saw the city of Xianyang as it burnt to mere ashes and I lived within those ruins afterwards until I could finally escape and attempt to settle myself a life. Yet during that time I learned to rebuild. To reconstruct what was lost and to improve upon it my sir. I could promise to bring you limitless wealth like countless others. I could promise you victory upon the battle field like countless others. Or I could promise to bring peace and order to wherever I may tread. Yet instead sir, unlike many others, I come to you offering to build you a Heaven. A Heaven upon Earth for you, and only you, to rule over and administrate. To control and revel within sir. I know it's a even bolder statement Duke Liang, yet trust me when I say this. Compare me to any other within this land and I could turn any building they may dare commission and turn it into thrice what they ever dreamed."

"You sound sincere in what you say," he said, stroking his chin as he thought.
"Though those with any association with the Qin are seen with suspicion, I do not want to be the man who rejects one when he seeks only peace."
He nodded to himself as he came to his decision. "The people of Liang will be grateful for your help. Forget your past, and focus on your future here, now."
