I haven't been a ruler yet, but I can't imagine in being insanely different from being a viceroy, which I am now. Are there a lot more commands or something?

Not really, but you do have to micromanage everything if you don't want to leave it up to a viceroy to do the work.

You have to take a certain number of provinces and have a certain number of troops, I think.

D'oh! Just like in IX. For crying out loud. The one thing that I wanted back, besides being something other than ruler, and it's not there. I wanted to pay tributes to the Emperor and receive rank that way.

In that way, I could be in a XL Yong Chong and still be a King!

Hmm, that could very well be why my ruler keeps giving me the task of gaining whole provinces.... Of course, I don't think my ruler can get any rank since we're the Yellow Turbans. :P

(P.S. We're going to win this game!!!)

Playing as Zhang He under Han Fu was irratating me because it basically controlled everything that happened. The coalition happened and the duels went on...then it broke up we went home and recieved word of Gongsun Zan's impending attack and Yuan Shao's offer to help us. Well Han Fu did his classic and told him to come on over and take over his land which Yuan Shao did quite well. So I served Yuan Shao and then things stopped being one big movie. We fought Gongsun Zan until Shao died *chuckles* then Shang took over and I suggested a campaign which we won despite my armies complete destruction. Now we just sit around waiting for another war to happen as he made me prefect of Ping Yuan. I tell you being a Vassal is hard as heck but being a prefect gets irratating real fast with you constantly giving orders to those sons of bums. Ah heck I love the game anyways.

Yeah, I was a prefect under Dong Zhuo with some really awful officers under me. Missed my target every single time...

I made an average created officer and had him start under the Yellow Turbans. I was an officer for a few years and then became prefect of He Nei. As soon as I took my first city I got made the Viceroy of the 2nd district. The only commands I ever recieved were to take regions. It became so simple, even with the Yellow Turban guys. In fact, I found out that battles are much easier to win if you do not actually control them. Just "simulate" and you'll win most of the time. We conquered China in 10079 days.

Now, this is really bothering me. Anyone know how a ruler with no relatives heir is determined? I was "close" with Zhang Bao when he died, had 1000 fame, was 1st class, and was the longest serving viceroy when, but still somehow Liu Bao became the ruler. He had not served for very long, was only a vassal, and had 103 fame. How....?

Playin as a ruler is bloodly hard. I started as a ruler in 194 AD., in Nan Hai. K first I get oath brothers. After that I was just maxin out my city. The events followed up like normal. Lu Bu beat Cao Cao at Pu Yang. Cao Cao beat Lu Bu and he fled ta Liu Bei, etc. Abyway Sun Ce did his event and took Jian Ye but that's it. Finally he takes Wu. Now I've beaten Shi Xie. I hired Xu Huang, Lu Su and Xun Yun. So I'm happy. Sun Ce then goes on a killin spree and takes most of Yang. He attacks me with half is dog dammit force.

Sun Ce's Force
Commander: Cheng Pu
Troops: 100,000+

Cai Yun's Force
Commander: Cai Yun (btw that's my CC)
Troops: 43,000

Needless ta say I was gettin crushed like nothin. Lucky I started whilin on Cheng Pu and somwhow survived that onslaught. However now I have ta somehow battle got of the horrible problem I have. Sun Ce looken all evil at me. Liu Biao's equal powered city. Liu Yan ta the west. Oh yeah and I have very little food and gold.

I might get lucky but don't try bein a ruler, less ya have a lot of time.

Okay, time for my story.

I've got a created ruler and some created officers. Before I continue, is it just me, or can everyone make their created officer's beginning stats at 100? Anyway, have five officers and ruler. I stick in my capital, Yong Chong, for 6 years. The starting scenerio was Yellow Turban, so I go through all the storyline changes. I slowly build up the city until it reaches XL. Then, I draft 5 units. One Elephant, Four Bow. I go after Yun Nan and take it. Here I had a choice, go after Liu Yan or Shi Xie. Of course, went after Shi and took over his territory. Went back up north and conquered Yan/Zhang's territory. Allied myself with Sun Ce in the Jing Province and Li Jue in the northwest. Took care of Liu Biao, Yuan Shu, and Cao Cao. Actually, Cao attacked me first so I took revenge and executed every Cao that I captured. So after all that, I'm a Grand Marshal. I've taken over the entire west of China. Just have Yuan Shang and Gongsun Zan in the north, Sun Quan in Jing, and some Zhou something that has East Wu.
