Linjiang, while prosperous under my custody, is ill informed about the other provinces. The information comes from the sister of my daughter's husband, so I am inclined to believe its validity. She is not prone to spreading rumors, and considered it best to inform me of the situation. As such, I have brought the news, and my offer, to present today. My forces are increasing greatly with each passing day, and I hope to be able to offer my aid to calming the chaos soon."
Meng Yi nodded and said, "I hope that you will be so able. As for your information I will try to gain further. Or, if you will, perhaps you could undertake this?"

He sighed and straightened his back. "I hear much of the ills of the people and little of any good. Tell me, how are things in your own province?"

Cao Chao wrote:"No need, no need," replied Guan Ying. "Now . . . You tried to recruit me . . . Now I am here . . . What is it will my duties entail? What opportunities will I get to shake fear and terror into my enemies with my might and glorious militant reputation?"
"Very well.. Your primary duties would involve leading one of the Han armies in the field, drilling and training them between battles, and the like. The question remains, though, if you would prefer that I create and force just for you, or if you would rather be free to work with any army or garrison as needed? As to the opportunities that await... we are currently reorganizing after the battle last month and evaluating the best approach to strike at the servants of the Usurper and force them back into their den. I feel certain that when we move, you would have a place at the head of such a force."

"I see," answered the former silk merchant. He considered for a moment, Wei Quan's words before he spoke. "I must admit though that I have no experience whatsoever really in the tasks that you are asking me to perform. I was just a merchant until recently. Though I have some experience as a horseman, I really have no clue about military training and exercises. Quite frankly, I wouldn't really know where to begin. Perhaps it is best that you hold off on any large commands and ranks until I have learned the ropes . . ."

"If that is how you feel, then it can be easily accomodated... a chance to work freely and better learn how to lead men. I thank you for your honesty in the matter, though. In admitting your own limits, you open yourself to improving them.

"Do you have any other questions or concerns?"

"Of course, of course," replied Guan Ying with a smile. "Just show me my quarters and I'll get some rest before I start doing anything."

With another turn of a month and a new season upon the land, such came a time for another visit to Nanzheng. Letters and messengers never seemed to do it for Qiao Lin, she always had to physically make these trips else she'd feel incomplete and like her piety was nonexistent. Plus, her Uncle enjoyed her company as much as she enjoyed his, so it was a win-win situation for both parties.

Familiar already to the guards of the complex, the elegant young woman wrapped the heavy covering of her cloak around her shoulders as she exitted the carriage that carried her all the way from Shangdang, adjusting her flowy robes as she nodded her head to the captain. "Lady Qiao, once again, arriving to seek the audience of her uncle, the Supreme Commander. Go with protocol quickly, it's a little bit chilly..."

"Excellent!," Wei Quan exclaimed. "I should hope that your stay is an enjoyable one."

He called over one of his attendants, who cheerfully showed Guan Ying to his new living space.

Shing took another sip of his wine

Sima Shing "For now, all is peaceful in Linjiang. Though turmoil may boil at the very borders, it has yet to spill over. I had hoped that the chaos would not reach so far south so fast, but I have sadly been wishing in vain. I have recently received word from The Marquis of Chang Sha, concerning the troubles he is having. I am praying or better news from the east when I return home. As for the other request, I shall try my best to discover the truth.

(OOC: Uncle is now in Yueyang, so I made a small edit.)

Lady Qiao Lin was led into a small chambers where a fire had been started in the brazier. While she warmed herself, a messenger was sent to inform Meng Tian of her arrival. A few moments later, the messenger returned to inform Lady Qiao that the Supreme Commander would receive her in his quarters.

The adopted niece of Meng Tian was led by an attendant to the Supreme Commander's temporary quarters, where he found her uncle in a dark and foul mood. Brightening slightly at the arrival of Qiao Lin, Meng Tian stood and gave her a warm embrace, planting a loving kiss on the top of her head. In an exhausted voice, he spoke. "Welcome . . . How are you, Little Qiao?"

This was certainly different, as the location she had journeyed to was not familiar to her - the news of invasion of the previous month had made it to her, and she had to come - not to mention that the coming of winter itself had changed the aura around her. Upon her arrival to the smaller chambers, she adjusted her cloak, getting used to the warmth of the fire for the moments that she was to wait. Soon after, a messenger came for her, and after an acknowledging nod she quietly followed the attendant to wherever her uncle was situated.

When Qiao Lin entered the Supreme Commander's quarters, immediately she felt the disturbance, the unsettling aura. Meng Tian's greeting stayed the same, however lacking as much enthusiasm as she was used to, and while mustering a smile for him, she could tell as she pulled away from returning his weakened embrace and looked at his tired expression. "Things are not doing so well in Shangdang, I feel like I've been mistaken in a choice," she said, shaking her head. "But the question of well being should be asked of you and not me, dear Uncle," she added with a slight frown and look of concern. "I've gotten word of various things concerning you and your army...and Nanzheng..." She wasn't going to say anything too much, merely have him explain to her - there was enough rumor going around, and she would have nothing but the truth from her Uncle.
