"What you rather buy from some loser? What is the price he is giving you. I beat it with 10% further discounts. This is ridiciuous. Trying to earn a living is more difficult than trying to run up the Great Wall." Po Huai said.

"Gold is never an issue, we can always discuss. Good horse match a Good man, just like yourself, surely you do not plan on being captured on worse because of gold issues."

Xuan sighed, and looked over to Baipan to get them out off this situation. Xuan did not often seek to offend, though he ws a blunt fellow. In this case, he trusted Xinrichu to use his charismatic skill to break them free. Xinrichu seemed to silently acknowledge the look and began to talk to the fellow:
"Listen," He said respectfully, "Mater Po, while I have no doubt your horses are great, and if I were to buy any, I would buy them from you, I just don't believe now is the best time to do so. You see, currently I only have 100 gold in my possession. I would be capable of purchasing a rather mediocre horse. I wish to get a horse capable of shooting across the landscape like lightning, and I haven't got the funds for that quite yet. After all," He smiled cleverly, "being the smart businessman you are, wouldn't you rather I wait to accrue my wealth, and then once my collection is substantial, then purchase a truly fine and more expensive steed from you? After all, who wants chump change when they can get a living."
Xinrichu stood waiting for a response, doing his best to seem comfortable with the pressing salesman.

Po Huai shook his head. This guy defintely has no idea about the finer workings of items and growth. "My friend, lets look at it this way. If you are going to stay in a house, you would stay in a house that would seek to accomodate your current situation. Another 2 years down the road, you are married with kids and stuff, you need a bigger place. Surely you do not plan on having 10 kids then buying your first home? Just like horses. 100 Gold more than allows you to get a horse than run faster than those that are found in the open markets and a much lower price. What the point of saving up to buy a Red Hare when you may not even live past the next month?"

"You see my friend, even getting a slightly slower horse right now would suit your current needs since certainly other bandits are not likely to have very quick ones. Another several months down the road, they would have even faster horses, and you need to get even faster ones to outrun them. Problem is that they probably already caught you."

Xinrichu sook his head, "I must disagree. You see, when one is governing, it is easy to fortify the walls and say it is to fend off immediate threats,. it is easy to build and build these walls until you have no money, but when the bandits don't attack you look like a fool, and when they do, after they leave you find you have no money to repair the damage they have done. It is wise to cultivate the farms and the markets for the future as well as the walls for immediate threats. Right now I have a steed that can run fast enough, and I have never had to do battle, and see no reason why I would in the future. So I must prepare for the future when I need a better horse, I have to prepare, I can not live in the moment and simply buy whatever I think will protect me."

Xuan had been sitting silently and rolling is eyes up to this point. He made irritated noises until he finally said sternly, "We aren't buying any horses." He was tired of Xinrichu's conciliation, "sorry master Po, but that is final."

"Too bad... " Po Huai said. Then he said "In the event you do need one, and one for you er guardian, do drop by Chu. I give you a good price. So you are going to be a governor in Henan soon? Maybe we can do more business then."

Po Huai eyed the guardian, mentally remembering to not spare him when he has a chance.

Xuan did not like these looks he was getting, nor the company which gave them to him. Yet, he allowed Xinrichu to continue talking the way he was. It was most likely he would never see these individuals again, and in the event the did, they would no doubt have an army or at least a city behind them.

Xinrixhu smiled confidently, "Yes, hopefully one day I will govern here, or somewhere at least. I wish to build a city into something beautiful and prosperous, and once I have done that, I have no doubt I can purchase a steed from your establishment. What about you master Po? Do you intend to create a horse breeding emporium or has other employment caught your eye?"

Continuing to give Xuan the dirty look, he turned back to Xinrixhu and smiled saying "I do not really believe in regional politics. Maybe one day when you finally take charge of this city, you would employ me. I am great with horses and fair with artistic stuff. Maybe you like them one day when your guardian allows you. No employment right now. I guess I can queue up for free food when someone takes over this place."

Xuan sighed inaudibly at being glared at so. It was an inevitability. Recruiters and power brokers of all sorts always found him disgusting because he sought to protect the scion of the Fasho clan. Were he not there, a bandit lord, or a Chu fief, or some other general would have no doubt convinced Xinrichu to follow him. Xuan was the one who kept Xinrichu from making foolish decisions.

Xinrichu could even feel the tension between the two, "Well, it is not a distaste for your craft, really it is just a disagreement between our two parties over fiscal management." He then smiled and spoke more freely, " Ah, but if I do ever become a governor, I will most assuredly visit you or send you a letter." He paused and thought about that free food system Po seemed to casually bring up, "Free food. That is quite a way to win over the populace. I think that would be something interesting to implement. But I ramble. Surely, as a breeder, you make enough to sustain yourself." He said looking inquisitively at him.

Po Huai gave a low sign and said "Ah, if life was like a monopoly. I face hard competition, such as cutting prices from other breeders. Not easy at all. What I earn barely feed myself and my horses. Horses need to eat as well. I have no city to shelter me nor a guardian to ensure I have food to eat."

"Yes if you ever make governor, do give me a letter. Again I am in Chu. I do have a band of friends."

Po Huai tailed off at friends, he wonders if the shadows are friends are just in existance because they have nothing better to do.

"Anyway, I am good at other stuff other than horses... which are not that pleasant to your enemies anywhere." Po Huai said with a smile.

Xuan laughed a little, "Friends. Talents. You of course speak of espionage. Well, I suppose it all lies in how you use your talent." He said, gazing upward.

Xinrichu looked over to him, to see if he had more to say, but he didn't. "Well I am sorry to hear that, but I am sure that having such a network is very helpful in and of itself. I am sure they make things easier for you. I certainly know my friends and confidants have moved me forward. But you spoke of other talents?" He paused for a moment and said carefully, "If you do not mind me asking, are those talents in espionage?"
