The woman was expertly patted down and led inside to the Prefect's office. Work around the great hall of Panyu is nearly complete and the hallways are decorated with numerous tapestries depicting the various landscapes of Yue. Coming upon the double doors of Xin's office, the guards opened the door.

Xin looked up from the stack of reports he was perusing and smiled at Ling. Standing up, he swept around his desk as a servant brought in tea and refreshments. "Welcome to Panyu Lady Shan. What can I do for Marquis Yi today?"

Shen Ling observed the tapestries and enjoyed them. Upon seeing Lin Xin, she showed her respect by bowing slightly.

Shen Ling: Prefect Lin, Marquis Yi wishes to congratulate you on defeating your foe in Wuzhong. Though any war is not desired, some are necessary. I have also heard that you were injured? But apparently, the injury is not serious, that is good to see, Prefect.

Xin gently touched his shoulder, which is still heavily bandaged under his robe, before gesturing for Ling to have a seat. "Please thank the Marquis for me and for the concern shown for my minor injury. That treacherous Xue Jin showed his true colors out there on the battlefield.."

Pouring a cup of tea both for himself and Ling, Xin sat down and continued with a smile, "How is Marquis doing herself? I've heard she has begun her goal of bringing stability to Wu with her victory last month. It brings joy to my heart to see a neighbor who cares as much about the people as I do."

In the past the traveling pair had received letters from other Warlords of the land. Most of those letters had been wrongly addressed to Gu Xi who was still quite young and had no real desire to give up his freedom just yet. That and it greatly angered his current Guardian, Jiu Zang, who has sworn to guard Gu Xi on his fathers behalf.

Thus when a letter had arrived addressing him, and mentioning only a little about the young Gu Xi, Jiu Zang decided that perhaps it was worth meeting the one who had scribed the letter. For it was his desire that Gu Xi be able to change the land but at the same time he didn't want his young ward to be used by those who wish to exploit his budding talent and intelligence.

Days later they had arrived at their given location with Jiu Zang riding infront of Gu Xi. One look from this fearsome eyes of his and any ill mannered thought a person had for the young Gu Xi was quickly forgotten. This meant a very uneventful journey to the large wooden gate. As their advance drew closer Jiu Zang whispered to Gu Xi. "My young ward, you should stay a short distance back. Many would surly try and exploit your growing talents by use if force if talks end badly here. Instead allow me to approach first to see that the safety of they place first."

Gu Xi gave him a peculiar look. Breathing a deep sigh he shrugged his shoulders. "If I am unwilling to make sacrifices or risk my own neck than how will I ever achieve any success during this chaotic time?" Than he pointed at Jiu Zang, "However... For this case I shall trust your keen judgment. You're far wiser than I and have many years of experience. If you decide that this place is unsafe than we shall leave without protest from me." Jiu Zang bowed his head and than made his way to the guards. Hailing them as he approached he began to speak. "Greetings, I am Jiu Zang and I am expected here this day." Trailing off he gestured to his young ward, "As is the young Master..."

Panyu has changed dramatically in the past couple of months. From a city filled with filth and inefficient public services to one that is well maintained and secured, judging by the frequent guards patrolling. Despite that the threat of the Butcher of Yue is still very real, the citizens seem confident in their city guardians and happily go about their daily tasks.

The guards snapped to attention as the pair approached. Momentarily, another guard, presumably the commander, came out with a scroll, checking the list the names written on it.

"Welcome to Panyu Master Jiu. I definitely see you on the list of expected guests but Marquis Xin failed to annotate that you would bring a guest. That is no problem though, for the young Master is obviously under your care? Now, I hope you don't mind but our standard procedure is to disarm and search you, for security purposes."

"As a former man of the military I consent to a search." He than gestured for his young ward to come forward to his side. Immediately Gu Xi, upon seeing the signal, approached with extreme haste. Upon his arrival Jiu Zang continued. "As does my young Master. Though he's quite harmless."

Jue Pan had finally arrived in Panyu, after a journey of many miles by water and land. His hand had always hovered around his sword, for his burden was of great importance. When he came within shouting distance of the gate guards, he hailed them with his upraised arm. "I bear an important message to Lin Xin, from Lao Yongrui! Will you let me see him?"

The guards quickly and efficiently conducted a thorough search for potential hidden weapons. As they completed their task, a young administrative official appeared and bowed to Zang. "I would like to welcome you to Panyu Master Jiu. I have the honor of escorting you to meet with the Marquis. Please follow me."

They passed halls filled with great artwork of Yue as servants or other government officials bustled about their daily work. Coming up to a set of double doors flanked with two guards, the administrative official stepped aside after opening the door to allow Jiu Zang and Gu Xi to enter.

Sitting behind the desk facing the doors is a young looking man. His handsome face is marred by two prominent scars that run down his left cheek and across his forehead. As the two entered the room, Xin looked up from his work and smiled. Coming around his desk, he bows to the guests and says, "Ah, Master Jiu Zang, it is an honor to meet you and welcome to Panyu. Please, you two make yourselves comfortable." Xin indicated to two chairs as a servant enters the room with a tray of tea and desserts, setting them down on a small table in front of the seats.

The guards snapped to attention upon seeing the approaching figure. Strangely, the man started shouting at them from a distance with his arms raised. The two soldiers looked at each other with a shrug, taking the stranger to be a preacher of some new religion or something, worshipping a diety named Long Yongrui.

When the man did not move on, one of the guards notified the shift commander, who came out looking annoyed. Upon being briefed of the situation, the shift commander went up to Jue Pan and said, "How dare you address the Marquis as if he was just a common peasant! You must've never been taught common courtesy and respect. Go away and preach your nonsense elsewhere before I have my guards teach you that lesson!"

Jue Pan was caught off guard by their hostility, but he came forward a few steps so that he wouldn't have to shout. "I apologize for my rudeness, but I do not come here to teach anything. Lao Yongrui is a noble lord of Qi, and he sends me here bearing an important message to the Marquis Lin," as Jue Pan mentioned the message, he briefly waved a parchment at the commander before tucking it back into his robes "and for the Marquis only. I agree to shed any weapons I have on me if you will take me to him."
