((Sorry for the late reply. I've been away.))

After hearing Lin Xin's offer, Song Lu Pi thought for a moment. The offer did indeed sound enticing but his commitments lay elsewhere.

Song Lu Pi bowed. "My Lord, you have offered me more than I deserve. However my loyalties lie with Xue Jin. He took me in and taught me all know. I could not do him the disservice of abandoning him at a tough time like this. That is unfortunately why I cannot accept your generous offer."

The shift commander realized the error of their assumption and quickly bowed to the envoy. "A thousand apologies good sir," he said. "And thank you for your consent to a search. It is standard procedure here. Someone will be coming to escort you momentarily."

After an efficient and thorough search for hidden weapons, Pan was led through wide halls that bore beautiful art from Yue, mostly depicting the vast countryside. Security seems to have been increased as well as more soldiers roam the hallways than before, thought the envoy wouldn't know that.

After opening the set of double doors flanked by two guards, the Pan is ushered into Xin's office, where two more soldiers are stationed as well.

Xin immediately stood and bowed saying, "Welcome to Panyu, envoy of Lao Yongrui. What is this message your master wishes to convey to me?"

Xin nodded, respecting the man's loyalty. He had the man's restraints cut and said, "Master Song. You seem a man of honor and integrity so I will release you on one condition. Please tell Xue Jin, whenever you return to him, that he is no longer welcome in Yue. If I catch him, or even hear a rumor of him in Yue again, then the next time we meet will mean his death."

The etiquette of Lin Xin surprised Jue Pan a bit, but he recovered quickly enough to respond before looking like a fool. "Please, do not bend your back before me, Grand Marquis. I am awed by your presence." Clearing his throat, Jue Pan slowly took a sheet of parchment from his robes, and gave them to a guard to deliver to Lin Xin. "The contents are quite volatile. No one but Lao Yongrui has seen the contents thus far, and as you can see the seal has not been broken. My Lord Lao has requested you do not repeat these words to any human ears, such is their matter of secrecy."

Xin smiled and walked around to the front of the desk. "Now, now. There's no need for all that aweness and Grand-whatevers. Though my rank is now Marquis, I came from a humble background in a small village not far from here."

A servant entered bearing a tray with tea and desserts, setting it down on the usual table. Xin gestured towards a chair for Pan to sit while taking the parchment from the him, committing the seal to memory before breaking it.

The offer for tea and treats ended before it could be vocalized as Xin began reading. Taking a glance at Jue Pan, Xin walked back behind his desk, taking care to conceal its contents from anyone in the room, and reread it after sitting down. Looking back up thoughtfully, Xin said, "Your lord has quite an interesting proposition. I will consider it carefully. One of my servants will escort you to the guest quarters if you may allow me a day to think about this matter."

"Is there anything else?"

The various works of art they passed in the hall didn't really impress Jiu Zang. Than again, he wasn't really an artistic person anyways. On the other hand his young ward, Gu Xi, looked deeply at the art as if they had some hidden message to convoy to him. Whatever it was he, Jiu Zang, decided it was best to leave his young ward to his own thoughts for now. Besides, they had just arrived to their desire destination.

"Greetings..." Whispered Jiu Zang as he and his ward took their appropriate seats that had been offered to them. Once settled in Jiu Zang sized up their host while his young ward looked even more deeply than that. Sometimes he wondered what was on his mind, but alas that would have to wait. Clearing his throat he spoke. "I am Jiu Zang, as you know, and my young ward here is Gu Xi." He gestured to Gu Xi, "We were invited here for an audience. Which, by the way, makes me wonder... Where is the writer of said letter? I would very much have liked to meet him."

Li Qiao arrived at Panyu for the second time. Hoping that the guards would still remember her, she approached the city hall of Panyu and bowed to the guard.

"Greeting. My name is Li Qiao. I came here to meet lord Lin regarding some unfinished issue. I am consent for any search."

It was a long ride from Yong, but he hoped it was worth it. Rumors told him that it would be worth his while to seek out Lin Xin, the man who would soon claim all of Yue. Brother Lao looked over the newly captured city, and bowed to the guards at the gate. "I am Brother Lao. I have come to meet with Marquis Lin Xin." He said with a grin, a man both bald and wearing a goatee, he had wide, consuming eyes and a knowing grin. He seemed as if he had been born with these features. He waited patiently.

(I agree to all stupid searches >_>)

Xin takes a seat himself as the tea was poured. He took a cup and blew on the hot liquid before replying with a smile, "You are speaking with him good sir." Taking a quick sip of the tea, he sets his cup down before continuing, "I'm glad my letter moved you. As you most well know, our beautiful country has fallen into turmoil, which saddens my soul. It is from the people that I serve where I get my inspiration."

Xin paused to allow the two to take a cup of tea or treats before stating, "As my responsibilities grow, so do the demands and expectations of the people."

The guards snapped to attention, recognizing Li Qiao. The entry process went much quicker this time and, shortly, Qiao was led to the same room as before. Xin was standing by one of the bookcases, seemingly searching for a document, when the door opened. He gave Qiao a quick smile before a look of sadness creased the corners of his mouth. Bowing, he says, "It is great to see you again Lady Li. I am saddened to hear the unfortunate result of your noble attempt to peacefully take Guiji. Like I said, it is very difficult to try to profess truth to those that have been influenced so long by lies."

The guards snap to attention as the man approaches and greeted him in unision with, "Welcome to Panyu, capital of Marquis Lin, where righteousness rules, the innocent knows no fear, and the guilty are punshed."

That seemed to be the signal for another man to emerge from the doorway in the large gate. Holding a scroll, he quickly scans it again before looking at Lao with a slight frown. Suddenly remembering his etiquette, he bows stiffly and says, "Welcome to Panyu...Brother Lao. I am Shift Commander Wen. I'm sorry to say you are not on the list of expected visitors. May I ask who or what you represent and perhaps the purpose of this visit? Also, thank you for consenting to a search as that will definitely speed things along."

"Yes, I am not on the list of expected visitors, because your Master is only away of my organization peripherally, not me. I am here to change that. I Speak for the Brotherhood of Xiyue, and head it. Over forty officers and their men and territories are part of my organization, including Rui Jiao Jin and Feng Wei of Hann." He bowed smoothly and properely aftr the guard did, with no word on how the guard had been somewhat rude. "I am prepared to meet your Master whenever you are prepared to take me to him. Let him know I am friends with the Raven Wind, and they suggested I come here."

Li Qiao smiled as she saw the governor of Panyu again. She bowed to Lin Xin as before. The young Qiao set her eyes on the floor aimlessly as she heard lord Xin giving her the consolation about the failed attempt to seize Guiji.

"Lord Lin. I did not regret that much despite my incompetence to free the people of Guiji from their current governor. It seems like I have a lot to learn about negotiation and debating. Anyway, I am glad that you are able to take Wuzhong, because I know that lord Lin would attempt to seize it anyway. However, I hope that the loss at both sides would be minimized."

Qiao paused a little before continuing her talk.

"Also, I am interested in your last offer. Is it still valid or not?"
