"We in Yan do not support the Qin but are not against them!" Kang said turning to Zhuang Jia, "You seem to have muddled my words, we stated that we are to protect Yan from Corruption, the corruption which Qin officials have there, we care not for the Qin Emperors for they are too far to care for, allowing such corrupt officials forces our opinion to be lowly of them, however, i never said they are virtuis...
I came here in hopes that we may open an alliance of some sort with a king of virtue!" Kang began to become confused with his own words, yet his intentions where still clear, and he was still puzzled how Zhuang Jia found those words from Kang? Obviously this man did not like Kang!

Listening to the words coming out of Lu Yings mouth the frown on Wu Chen's face began to ease a little as he realises that the woman had just been totally misinformed by seemingly a peasent soldier or something. All he had to do was re-educate her in here error and no harm done. Taking a seat he look at the woman and gesturing Lu Ying to copy him he sighs lightly and begins to inform her of the political situation in the rebellion.

"Well, Lu Ying, you have been informed wrong by your men sadly, at this moment in time my King, Chen Sheng, is just what i said, King of Chu. I was sent her by him to pacify the Zhao province and as things stand I am doing fairly well at it and have been rewarded by my King with the rank of marquis. So you see I am not a King, and am loyal to Chen She so I wouldn't even voice any ambition to equal him in rank. It is no matter that you made a mistake, Zhao here was isolated from events before I arrived with my officers and army. So, I am willing to accept your loyalty on my kings behalf if that is what you are here to suggest?"

Sitting back Wu Chen looks hopefully at the woman in front of him hoping she would take the avenue he had left open to her.

The guards laugh while searching him.
No, not the General, the fat man is the one you are going to visit. He's a jolly sort, Magistrate Zheng.

The guards take the man to a clean and fragrant room. A middle aged man in magistrate's regalia is sitting on several cushions before a desk of some size, covered with vellum and an abucus.

Hello, pardon that I'm not getting up but my knees aren't what they once were. Please, have a seat. What business brings you to this lovely city?

Zhou Zheng offered a slight bow the jolly fat man, a welcome reprieve from the sharp jokes of the guardsmen outside.

"I am Zhou Zheng, serving as Magistrate of Xinzheng, here in Chu. I recently ascended to this position by exposing the corruption of the previous magistrate, and I am looking for... shall we call it legitimacy from the local government?"

ann wrote:Chen She had lately been discovering how difficult it was to have things taken care of effectively and efficiently. Wu Guang, who he had relied upon since they’d begun their quest almost by accident, was never around when he needed advice or help. He’d had many ‘old friends’ from the village arrive to give him advice - or merely to gawk at him and tell him how the heavens would punish him for foolishly sticking his neck out.

He looked closely at the man before him. He was young indeed, but appearances could be deceiving. She was, after all, a peasant so he could hardly hold the appearance of youth against the man before him. And, he was a doctor, She had begun feeling a great deal of stress over the decisions he was supposed to make and the way his plans never quite unfolded as he’d hoped.

He said, “You aren’t afraid of battle with the Qin?” The young, he knew, were often brave because they had no experience. Older men were often brave because they had no choice. She had been brave for this reason. Though, he admitted to himself, he was enjoying being King - lots of good food and wine and a comfortable home. It was, he reflected, nice not to work in the fields. “Have you seen a battle?”
"I've just been expelled from the circles of my Mentors, King. I was under the impression that they have nothing else to teach me so I obliged their request." Jun quickly answered, "But to answer your question, I am not afraid of a battle with the Qin. Why should I? Is it not an Empire about to crumble and return to whence it came?"

"Does it not draw near to its origin? A state of naught, of insignificance?"

Jun smiled faintly, "I have not seen any battle, Highness. Let's just say that I have been quite successful avoiding them. After all, it is said that the greatest of the generals clinches victory absent the risk of even a single engagement."

Zhuang Jia frowned as he listened to Liu Kang speak. He spoke of himself the way a king did - not, perhaps, Chen Sheng, but as one of the Qin did. He referred to himself as if he were many. And he made little sense to Zhuang Jia.

"You care not for Emperors? Are all people in Yan this way? Have the Qin not broken you all on the wall for this?" He shook his head in irritation as if flies were buzzing about his head. "Who is this king of virtue?"

Pan Dao took a step back, recognizing that Zhuang Jia had become truly annoyed. He had heard many stories and thought it best to get out of the way. With a roar of frustration Minor Injury: 5% loss to all stats for any actions taken. Zhuang Jia shouted, "Shut up man!" and backhanded Liu Kang with his heavy fist.

Before Liu Kang could react the guards moved forward with weapons drawn. Zhuang Jia, his fury somewhat lessened by this release, said, "Remove him from the city. He is a mad man, or the worst Qin spy in the world." With a glare that took in Liu Kang, Pan Dao and half of the guards, Zhuang Jia stalked out of the room.

The Guard captain gave quick instructions to his men and they hauled Liu Kang from the room and quickly had him out of the building and on his way from the city.

((if you want to shout things as you go feel free - but be careful as the guards are all in rebellion against the Qin as well and some have grudges and they think you *might* be a Qin supporter at least and know that none of their superiors cares what happens to you ;) ))

Chen She nodded to himself - avoiding battle had always been the best plan. And, avoiding battle, he reflected, was easier when one had lots of eager generals to order out to fight it for one! He wasn't a coward but he didn't think of himself as foolish either.

To his guest he nodded and smiled and said, "Oh yes! That's the wise one. To win it all and not risk anything - that's the best way!" He wished his advisors would think this way. "So you wish to join our fight here?"

With a large laugh, Ti shakes his head.

Legitimacy? Did you kill the old town ruler and steal his horse? Isn't your possession of the town a form of legitimacy? Or have you come seeking protection? Are we to offer you soldiers to defend your town in case of attack in return for some monetary tribute each month? If that's the case, his Most Able and Commanding General of the Corps Niu Xiong might have something to say.

If you'd like your town to enter our King's holdings then we might have another option for you. What is it you would have of us?

The blue-clad politician chuckled.

"Let's say my acquisition was less than condoned by the acting government. I am a man who is smart enough to realize he cannot possibly come to rule a town or city without coming under the gaze of the local government, a government whose ideals I agree with. The previous magistrate was a die-hard Qin supporter, who was more than happy to leave the town poor in his wake."

Zhou Zheng paused for a moment, folding his hands behind his back.

"What I want is a bit more complex. I want Xiangcheng, and to govern it in my own right. I am not asking for a loan of forces -- I intend to take the city on my own to prove my merit. Afterwards, I would be more than willing to enter the city in the King's holdings in return for a title and the honor to serve."

The magistrate whistles upon hearing the ambitious scheme.

You must be an ambitious up and comer. If you raise the troops, take the city, and come to the king looking for a title in exchange for the city I am sure you wouldn't be displeased. Why you might become the next prelate or chief of the ministry of meritous action. Good luck and feel free to stop by when you are in Chen. Somedays I only have the protestation of the corrupt who aren't pleased that I'm making the city legit and organized. Or at least it's commerce.
