My parents are both Alan Moore nuts, so I've been familiar with the source material for about three years. We went to see the movie the saturday of its opening weekend, and I must say- awesome. I know Moore complained about it, but he usually does that. It is true that Evey's character was changed, but I feel for the better. In the graphic novel, there wasn't a whole lot of strength about her. I also liked the retooling of Gordon; in the graphic novel, I felt he really served no purpose, but in the movie he was a reminder of the brutality of the regime. Over all, I felt that V himself was a more fluid character in the movie. He had more of a purpose, more of a plan, and was more human in ways. He was also more comic ("V, did you have anything to do with that?" "Yes, I killed him"). However, I can see why Mr. Moore raised a stink- the movie isn't exactly like the graphic novel.

I enjoyed the movie immensely. I went to see it with a group of friends and most of them really enjoyed it, but one of my friends absolutely hated the movie. He thought it was utter crap. To each their own I guess.
I also saw Thank you for smoking. It was a really amusing satire. I recommend that as well.

Okay, this is a transfer from my PH OOC thread, but I figured I should tell everyone about one of the coolest movies ever. I'm talking about Asoka, the 2001 Bollywood film depicting the life of the great Mauryan emperor who spent the first years of his reign on the warpath and then turned to Buddhism as a result of the destruction he caused. Unlike many other 'historical movies' produced these days, Asoka was surprisingly accurate, though some characters, namely Devi, weren't given enough importance in the life of Asoka. Overall, awesome movie, and a great introductory movie to the world of Bollywood, especially for history buffs.

It's an alright movie.
If you want Bollywood, a classic film that still runs in cinemas since it's release in the 70s....
Sholay!

Whenever righteousness declines and unrighteousness increases I make myself a body; In every age I come back, to deliver the holy, to destroy the sin of the sinner, to establish righteousness.
I just went to see "Lucky Number Sleven" yesterday. I thought it was an awesome movie. Nice little twist at the end, though I did see it coming.
I got Chicken Little for my daughter, and we watched it three days...in a row... I like that movie too. Parents can relate to it, and that always makes for good kid movies. Like Shrek. Kids like it, and parents think it is funny because there are enough jokes that adults would get.
I also just watched Robocop again (haven't seen it in probably 10 years), and like that movie even more that I did when I was a little kid. Lots of stuff in there that make it better than most action movies.
