Biography/HistoryStanding at five and a half Yun Ling is, strong and able young woman. She wears a steal chainmail armour over her robes, which are dyed a deep purple. Her hands are steady and well used to handeling her axe. Her skin is unusually pale, nearly white while her long black hair hangs down her back untied except by aband around her forehead. She has a single scar on her right temple, running down past her eye and onto her cheek.
It was a cold morning, a harsh wind blowing accross Yun Lings back. Groaning she felt the mud beneath her. With some effort she pushed herself up from the ground and looked about. Suddenly she realized she had no idea where she was. Her head ached. Feeling her scalp she felt her hair crusty, soaked in dry blood. She must have been out for some time for the bleeding to stop and dry up like that.
Now survaying her surroundings she noticed a caravan on its side, a horse and looted crates. Was she a merchent? Was this bandits, or rivals... or what? Her head hurt even more as she tried to remember. Shrugging she decided to look about the wreck to see if anything there could help here.
Looking about the caravan she noticed mainly spoiled food stuffs and cheap clothing. Crawling into the kocked over caravan she found nothing much either, however as she crawled she stepped on a piece of wood and it broke into a secret compartment. A suit of fine chainmail and a wicked looking axe. Shrugging she took the items and crawled back out of the caravan. Better armed then not she thought, one never knew when bandits could strike.
Looking now to the wild horse she took one of the loos reins from the van. It took an hour or so but eventually she had the horse. Equiped and feeling a bit better now Yun Ling rode west along the road, hoping to find a town or village where she could clean up and investigate who she was and why she was ambushed.
It was starting to darken as Yun Ling rode along the western road. In winter the night came fast and yun Ling would need to get somewhere fast to protect against wild animals and bandits. Kicking her horse she sped up till finally she saw a light in the distance. Finally a village? Somewhere to rest her weary bones. However, as she closed in on the light she saw it was no village. Another caravan, on fire and under attack from a small group of men. Upon seeing this Yun Ling was suddenly over with a great rage. What right had these bandits to attack innocents, to attack this poor merchent, to have attacked her! Lifting her axe up she charged forward.
Her first pass, she swung the axe with all her might, rending one of the bandits in two. Jumping off her horse she ran against the remaining four. Blocking high she deflected two blows before swigning down, removing one more bandit from the fight. Stepping back she composed herself, took a breath and attacked with a rage and fury not often seen in the middle kingdom. the three bandits found themselves pushed hard, each one blocking deperatly from the axe weilding woman. Finally Yun Ling broke through their guard, slaying two more. the final bandit, seeing his comrades dead and gone turned face and ran as fast as he could. Finally, the bandits delt with, Yun Ling calmed, the rage gone from her.
From behind the burning caravan a man stepped out, walked up to Yun Ling and bowed before speaking. "Thank you! Thank you! My name is Hui Zang, a merchent running the trade rout from Xianyang to Chencang." Hui Zang said before continuing. "If I could be so bold, what is the name of my saviour?"
"I am... Yun Ling" She replied "I was attacked by bandits near Beidi myself..."
"Then I guess your missfortune was for my good... the heavens work in mysterious ways" Hui Zang continued "I have a small house in chencang if you wish to join me. I would be honoured to have you as my guest."
"Thank you... I would like that" Yun ling replied before joining the man. Together the pair traveled west, the road to Chencang seeming calm and uneventful.
Together Yun Ling and Hui Zang arrived at Chen Cang and, in exchange for some work in his shop, Hui Zang allowed Yun Ling to sleep in the premisise. This carried on for a few weeks, and Yun Ling was happy working with a man she had come to like. And so it came to a day she was escorting Hui Zang to the town of Songxi to trade in wool.
However, as the pair neared the town gates they found them closed. The small walls about the town were examined, the whole town was closed off. Somewhat confused the pair were ready to leave till from out of the trees three men came scurrying out.
"Please!" The first man said "Bandits have taken the town and have it locked down till they can bleed us dry of everything of worth! My wife and daughter! They are in their with these criminals!"
"Come, come, follow me" Hui Zang said, the concern plain on his face "Let us go back to Chen Cang, rally the guard. They can solve this problem"
"But... my family.... they need help now! By the time the guards are here the bandits will have taken what they want and killed who they please!"
Yun Ling stood by quietly while her friend and the man spoke. Looking at the walls, they didnt seem very high. She figured she could climb them without much bother...
"Enough!" She said "Can any of you handle a blade or a spear? I think, if we climb the walls we can surprise the bandits."
The three townsmen all nodded, although if they were really fighters or if it was just out of bravdo or concern for their loved ones Yun Ling didnt know. stepping closer to Yun Ling and Hui Zang all three men bowed and introduced themselves. "I am Fang Yun" said the man who had spoke first" To my left is Sao Bao, to my right Kehajai Pen"
With their introductions finished Yun Ling grouped up and explained her plan. It was a simple one. They would cut down a tree, put it against the wall and climb over. Simple so far. Once in the town Yun Ling would find the bandits and kill them. She was confident that she could make enough mess and noise to bring most of the bandits to her. Hui Zang was to go to the main gate and open it if it was not guarded while to three townsmen were to find prisoners and hostages, lead them to Hui Zang and out to safty. That was the plan at least. as long as Yun Ling didnt die, it would work perfectly.
And so they went, Yun Ling stood in the town centre. Throowing back her head she yelled out a mighty roar, her chainmail glittering in the sunlight and the edge of her twohanded axe shone with a mean glint. It took only a second before two bandits peeked out of one of the houses. Yun Ling rushed forward, her axe trailing on the ground before swinging up with so much force it cut the first man in two, now on the down stroke she decapitated the second bandit.
These men didnt die quietly however and soon a good twelve armed men surrounded Yun Ling. She stood, axe ready as the twelve circled her. Tension was in the air and seconds felt like minutes. Suddenly Yun Ling took the initive, running forward then dropping to the ground, sliding on the gravel, she found herself under one man. Swinging hard she hit him with the blade into the groin. One down, eleven left to go. Jumping up she spun about, jumping like a tornado, taking down another two of her asailents.
Suddenly she felt a thud on her back, knocking her forward, her chainmail blocking a savage cut. Kicking backwards she pushed the attacker away and gave her enough time to spin about and decapitate the enemy. Now the bandits seemed more weary, this was no simple town girl. Once more they circled her, pointing spears at her as if to soon make a pin cushion out of her.
-flash- Yun Ling remembered. Blood, heat, anger, blood! -flash- Suddenly she screamed a blood curdling roar and ran at and through the bandits. Her axe flowed like water and her fury was unmatched. It was only a matter of minutes and the threat from these criminals was gone.
