I think the plan is more to hope he will be annoyed enough duel Belial and thus doom himself. As things stand he has a chance to break this attack, if he duels he will lose the battle as a whole for certain.

No hope to break the attack actually with such a low supply, his only hope is to outlast the supply hits by being lucky in those three rounds...
Actually, that goes hand in hand, if he can outlast the supply hits, he'll likely win in 3 rounds or go to next month which is probably like winning
