Now's your chance to add something to our fantastic game! We aren't completely pleased with our list of Random Events in Personal Turns or Searches, thinking it is a bit too small for our taste.
So here you go!
Post your random events, and we'll take the ones we like the most. They can be good, bad, or either, or both! We like common events that just happen to people, like having a servant steal 10 gold, but we also like ones like this:
A damsel runs up to you and begs you to help her father who has been thrown in jail! Investigating, you find out he's rich, and willing to offer you a 200 gold bribe to get him out. However, he's a sadistic murderer, and the people really want him locked up. Do you set him free?
If Yes - You get 200 gold, but Popular Support suffers slightly
If No - The Damsel cries and wails outside your house for days, and people mutter about how evil you must be to treat so beautiful a woman so. -10 Public Safety.

Common event:
While walking on the road, you get your foot stuck in a rut. You end up tripping, causing a great pain in your leg, and quite a bit of gold to go scattering around the place, which is subsequently picked up by little animals.
You lose 15 gold, have a minor injury, and learn about a rich family of squirels ruling the world!!!
(You can take the squirel part out, I thought that was funny, though.)
Choice event:
A group of bandits have appeared near your town. After a few days, you go out to meet with them, and tell them to go away. They make an offer to you, saying they can get you some "goodies" if you let them stay. But letting them stay may cause a bit of a problem...
If you take their offer, you get 100 gold, and a random item. However, Public Safety drops by 15, along with a drop in popular support.
If you reject them, they loot the city, and then leave. Public Safety drops by 10, and the city loses 1000 gold.

Hey good suggestions!
Bonaparte - one thing we like is making the outcomes chance related. For example instead of always getting gold with a safety support and commerce reduction there could be a chance of that and a chance of some other outcome for a yes. That keeps it fresher when it is used more than once.

While walking along some fields you spot an old man, folded over a bundle of firewood. You begin to think the old man is dead, but he suddenly bolts upright. His face is dirty and stained with tears. He claims to be bitterly cold, and on the verge of death. His mouth is rotting, and his attire smells even worse. He wobbles toward you, dragging his knotted walking stick beside him. His foul appearance is enough to ward you off, but his pleas insist you purchase him one last drink--the fine wine of his younger days. The wine would set you back [50-100] gold. Will you help him, or will you let nature take its course?
Helping the old man:
-- He insists you stay and help him finish off the bottle. He goes well into the night, telling stories and singing. Eventually, he admits that his wife would be very upset if she knew he was out this late. He rises and leaves, seeming to be in perfect health. Something glistens in the grasses where he sat. You look, and find a handsome necklace--a gold pendant imbedded with tiny gems. [ Necklace (Charm + 1-4)]
-- When you return with the wine, the old man is accompanied by a beautiful young woman. She explains that the elderly man--her Grandfather, was a great fencer and well educated. In his later years, his back forbids him from wielding a sword of any kind. Greatly depressed, he has many times since wandered into the fields to die. His grandchild forbids him from drinking the wine. The old man, impressed with your character and kindness, offers to assist in your studies. [ Stat exp + (5-15) ]
-- The old man drinks his fill, eventually becoming drunk. He seems to be more foul in this state than before. When he spies you shuddering at his stench, he is insulted, and beats you with his knotted branch. [ Injury? ]
Leaving the old man:
-- The old man's sobbing gradually fades into silence as you retreat back the way you came, deciding to take a shortcut the next time you must come through this way.

You leave your home one morning and hear distant screams. Alarmed, you move closer to at least see what the commotion is about. A cart led by a mangled old mule is dragging various debris, including what seems to be a shop's display of pottery. Merchants and shoppers alike are screeching as the old animal moves from vendor to vendor, tasting various wares. Anyone who attempts to go near it is warned with the clapping of the creature's teeth and a buck of it's legs. Spying you, a merchant corners you and insist you assist in killing the beast. Realizing the damage it could do, you agree to help. In time, more people gather to help bring the creature down. Some stones and arrows miss the menacing mule, causing more damage. In the end, the creature trots down the street, reasonably unharmed, and a flock of children succeed in chasing it out of the city with songs, laughter and love (Aww!). The damage in the market is assessed. Always the victims, the merchants give a collective groan.

While sitting down to a meal, you are interrupted by the wails of a woman outside your home. What you mistake to be distress, is actually the woman singing. When she spots you, she promptly stops. As you turn to return to your meal, she starts up again, singing of how she had to pay her landlord, how the wind had blown away her seeds and how she would have no warm meals until her young child returns from scavenging the fields. It is clear now that the woman followed the aroma of your meal. There is not much of your food left, but you give her some anyway. She leaves, but the following day you overhear the woman literally singing praises and exaggerating some on the deeds of the previous night. That night, as you sit down to eat, you discover that local riff-raff have taken the day off to practice their singing, and find your way to your door. You may go hungry for the next few days, but you at least have the opportunity now to convince the beggars and troublemakers into changing their bad habits.

After many days, you have noticed a foul stench in the air. "I guss those people outside were screaming for a reason..." you think. As you stroll outside to see what's wrong, you find many people telling you a strange story about a man who has just roamed into town. Investigating the matter, you find that a very fat man has recently rolled (literally) into town, and he is aiming to get the world record of most time spent not bathing. Now, being a logically thinking person, you attempt to throw some water on him, which does nothing. He says to you, "If you were to get me some of that special tea I've heard so much about, I'll gladly leave your town." The tea normally costs a few gold pieces, but the teaman is so irritable from the stench that he is charging 100 gold for it. Will you buy the tea, or will you attempt to just get something to plug your nose?
If you buy the tea:
You return to the fat man, and give him the tea. He drinks with glee, and then leaves your city, a bit of stench still behind, but nothing compared to before. You notice that a very fine sword was left behind, and you decide to keep it, even if it is a bit stinky. Get Sword (Mgt +3, Cha -1)

You return to the fat man, who claims that the tea you've gotten him is not the kind he asked for, even though it is. He asks you to go buy a completely different kind, and then return. This only costs 75 gold. (You can help, or get the bad ending. If you do this, you get the better ending.)
Don't buy the tea:
The man remains in your town. It'll only take a few years for you to get used to the stench, right?

You return to the fat man, and give him the tea. He drinks with glee, and then leaves your city, a bit of stench still behind, but nothing compared to before. You notice that a very fine sword was left behind, and you decide to keep it, even if it is a bit stinky. Get Sword (Mgt +3, Cha -1)

You return to the fat man, who claims that the tea you've gotten him is not the kind he asked for, even though it is. He asks you to go buy a completely different kind, and then return. This only costs 75 gold. (You can help, or get the bad ending. If you do this, you get the better ending.)

While Educating the citizenry, a young boy speaks up. He declares that your lecture makes absolutely no sense and that you are wasting the 'valuable' time of the people. Do you reply to this insult or not?
Reply Succesful: The boy, unable to agrue with your logic, sits back down and decides to be silent. Passers by who had gathered during your long-winded explanation of your teachings are pleased by your intelligence, and shower you with gold. But as they are peasants, you get little. 50 gold earned. Public Safety increases
Reply Unsuccesful: As you stammer on like a buffon, the boy blows you a raspberry, more children, feeling brave due to their peer's outburst, begin taunting you. Others soon join in the mockery, and when you stumble off, adjusting your clothing, you realize one of the rapscalions stole some money! 20 gold lost, Public Safety lowers.
Ignore the comment: Other's agree with the child's comment, while other's find unspoken intellect in your silence. Absolutely nothing happens..

and with the posibility of earning yourself a custom title. hee hee...You are enjoying yourself in a food fair, enjoying nice chunks of dried squids, pickled cuttlefish and salted fish with decaying smelly tofu. (All true delicacies) Then you were stopped by this young maiden which you immediatly recognized that her father was once a hero, is famous and respected in your area. She asked for directions which you can either:
1. Speak and released the hazardous bad breath you have charged for about an hour already.
2. Not to speak for you are a sensible soul and decided to run away in ambarassment instead.
By speaking, you lose 300 fame for having bad breath.
By running away, you lose 150 fame for being ill mannered.

Keep em coming. And these aren't just for Patrolling, Dark Dust.
Every set of Personal Turns gets about 5 Random Events that just happen, outside of the normal actions, to some of the players. These events are to be added to the list we have for those Random Events, or, if they are small-scale results, we'll put them into the results from Searching.
We're looking to add another 20-30 things hopefully. If we can add more than that, we'll be even more happy.
