I don't really see the point in trying to read a book as quickly as possible. The whole point is to enjoy the story and take in all it has to offer. Unfortunately my life has taken precedence over the book. In 3 days of owning it I've read 75 pages of it.

Three whole days just to read one book!? Shocked Sounds like a bunch of amateurs... Any serious reader will finish an average sized book (500-700 pages) in one day. A larger one (700-1200 pages) will take two days. No book takes three days, though.
No my friend was very busy. If my friend wasn't so busy she would have read it in 1 - 1 1/2 days.

I don't think anyone said anything about as quickly as possible - skimming is for work. When I am enjoying a book I have difficulty putting it down and can finish very quickly. My enjoyment of it wouldn't be enhanced by forcing myself to read more slowly or to limit the time I read per day. Actually I think that would make me enjoy it less.

Yeah, I don't have to read fast, I'll just read all day. I do ten to read very quickly during the mosr exciting parts, however. It doesn't really matter though, because I tedn to reread all fo ym books at least once. :)

I liked the Harry Potter series for about a year until I turn 12 or around there. I later went back and read some of one of the books. I think the whole series is pretty poorly written, but ofcourse it does have very good content. Very imaginative characters and stories, but all of that wizard fantasy stuff just isn't for me. Plus I don't like the lack of diversity... it seems everyone in the book is an English Caucasian. I also really don't like the Harry Potter character anyways.

I wonder if you like anything Zhu Wenshao. Your cynicism is immense.

I have a memory like a sive for any sort of details of a book. The balance to that is if I read it enough times it sticks for good. :)

Possibly one of the most controversial debates if of the LOTR series. I've found its a love it or hate it style book. Some have even said that JR Tolkien was a terrible writer.

I used to love LotR ... but now I can't even read the books for more than 10 minutes at a time. They seem so dull. :o

I recently finished Romeo Dallaire's Shake Hands with the Devil. I can recommend it. Dallaire has a number of passionately held beliefs about his time in command of UNOMIR. The book is interesting; though I expected to find him convincing I actually found myself disagreeing with his assessment - based on his reported observations in fact. Interesting book though - of course very depressing.

I'm looking for any reviews on Mario Puzo's Godfather novels. Are they masterpieces that were made into great films, or were the films better than the novels?
