Chen Ping:

"You are too modest Master Chen, your talents are astounding. Or would I say terrifying if you are standing on the side fighting us. I will be honest with you, YOU are a major concern in our private planning halls when we are strategising the options we have in Wei. Zhao Yue was blessed when you decided to join him, alas he has neglected his good fortune.

Perhaps, the best way I can allay your fears of being under employed would be for me to explian to you how I would seek to employ a good self like you.

I see you have 3 particular traits that will be most welcomed in my forces, I am sure you are well aware of these strengths of yours.
1. A very strong commander that supports the main attack (OOC: a support commander)
2. A most terrifying ability to confuse both enemy commanders and troops.
3. A flair for civil rebuilding in this war torn lands.

I have no doubt your addition, if you were to join us, would be most welcomed by our army. In fact I will appreciate greatly your support in major battles. Now why only major battles and not all the battles? As a sovereign, I would have to consider the empire as a whole, I have to balance civil development with military success. After all, I do not aspire to be another Shi Huang Di and neglect the welbeing of our general populance. Therefore, I may opt you close to me for the small skirmishes, to help build a better tommorrow for the people. After all, sometimes, it may be a little of a overkill for use an axe to kill a fly........

Now, I am not very sure how Zhao Yue rules his domain, but over here, I listen to, and often react to, the advices given by those who are in my employ. In my court, while myself and Lt General Yuan Shu retains the authority to overule anyone, we treat everyone as equal, and strongly advocate team work. I believe and practice meritocracy, a teachings by the great sage Kong Zi, advancements are therefore almost always a result of loyalty, ability and contributions made.

I hope the above arrangement sounds appealing to you?"

Jin looked back at Ping, waiting for an answer.

Wei Hong:

"On behalf of the all my officers, I welcome you to the big family." Jin was a happy man today.

Chen Ping listened to Liu Jin carefully, his head bowed in a respectful fashion. He sipped his tea - enough to show his appreciation but not so much as to be disturbing or to seem as though he was in need of sustenance. He liked many of the things Liu Jin said but found others confusing.

When his host finished speaking he said, "I am flattered that you find my skills impressive. You say all are equal in your force? But you and Lt. General Yuan Shu? I have trouble imagining such a situation. Does it work well for you?" In fact Chen found such an arrangement very surprising. He waited with interest for his host's response.

Yes, only me and Lt General Yuan Shu retains the right to veto, though I believed we have yet to use this executive power. Over here, I consult and respect everyone's opinions, and then consider the bigger picture before making a final decision. We are like a big extended family, more than a leige/officier relation.

I truly believe that each and everyone has his and her unique strength, and seek to leverage on everyone's strength. Obviously, not everyone's suggestions could be taken into considerations all the time, this is especially so if the suggestions of different parties are conflicting. However, by putting things into an objective discussion, the virtues of each suggestion will soon be revealed. Hence we hope to make a come up with a more educated plan.

As I said this concept of meritocracy is preached by the great Kong Zi, and is rather against the traditional caste system. However I am confident that it is a superior system.

Chen Ping, who sought power and authority before most other things, found the idea of a meritocracy difficult to understand. He thought things must be very chaotic when decisions were made and wondered how he would manage in such a situation. After a moment he said, "Your offer is most interesting. I have, however, received several others. I do feel it important to visit those who've sent offers. This is one way a man such as myself can gain further information about the state of the provinces around me."

He bowed and prepared to leave saying, "I must continue these visits and will think carefully about your offer."

A small cavalcade of horses made its way through the rugged paths of Zhao. An old warrior was sitting upon a worn carriage ushering the horses onward while a slightly-younger rider rode out beside, scanning the surrounding area for bandits.

Inside the open-air carriage a figure sat in quiet contemplation as the large wheels rattled beside them. They were dressed in fine silk robes which were loose enough to simply be absorbed in the fabric. Long, jade-colored hair flowed down the figure's back and spilled over their shoulders. As the sun hit the trees to the side of the road, the mysterious noble looked up with cold eyes and looked over the area before settling back on the cushions they were sitting on.

Liu Jin's capitol was before them, further down the road. The group had been travelling hard and the horses would enjoy the rest. They would have to find a place to rest first, though.

"Go to the palace," the figure in the carriage commanded. Without bothering to reply, the driver whipped the horses onward and entered the city with haste. Through the streets, through the market, past the barracks; none of these things held attention from the noble for very long. Only when they reached the building itself did the figure show any emotion.

The young man, for that is what the noble was upon closer inspection, shuffled out of the carriage. His flowing robes stopped just short of the ground but the shoulders were still loose and the sleeves hid his hands from sight. Flanking him, his two war-hardened attendants followed dutifully up the stairs.

Shuffling up to the guards on duty, the young man slightly bowed his head causing his hair to side across his back. "I wish to speak with the governor. He should be expecting me," the young man murmured. His voice was low and smooth, but it held a hint of disinterest and formality.

The "palace" was not quite as splendid as its name suggest. Nonetheless it has a healthy supplement of guards. After making sure that the broken wax seal appeared to be sent by Jin himself, 2 guards escorted Gao to the audience hall and Jin hurried over from the planning room, a place he was spending a lot of his time in.

"Master Gao, I am so glad to see you. I have been waiting for you since I last received your letter. Please take a seat."

Jin motioned for tea to be served. "These are Yu Qian Long Jin, a special reserve sent to me by a friend who farms tea. Please see if they are to your liking."

Jin paused a little, before continuing

"I trust you came to discuss the details mentioned in your letter? If that is the case, please do tell me how precisely we can work on that."

Politely taking the offered drink, Gao leaned back and sighed contently. "Of course, as my letter stated, I wish to join you. My armies, my officers, and my contacts all turned towards the prosperity of Wei."

"Naturally, I wish to be used in some official capacity if it is available. My officers and myself are well-versed in all forms of administration whether it be a single city or an entire province. I have served Kings and fools, both to the best of my capability. I wish to simply continue to work."

Taking a moment to motion to his two retainers, the young man thought to introduce them. "The men you see here are marvels of the age and only two such people in my service. The other three officers, who joined me out of a need to get out of their lives, shall enlist with you as well. The only thing I would ask is a small amount of autonomy and funds to continue to improve Wei. I wish to see this province unified under a single banner and return to my home of Shangdang in triumph."

Your service would be most appreciated. However I will like to know the extent of that autonomy that you are asking for and how much of a sign up bonus you want. Lastly I will also like to know the size of your army and their available equipment.

OOC: PM these info please

Two men one clad with a beautiful armour with a spear by his side and an elderly old man were seen walking towards the audience hall. The young man looked around and spoke to the old man "Nice....City....This...Is"

The old man sighed"No,no say it like this This is a nice city"The young man looked awkwardly at the man and replied "This....City....Nice...." The old man seemed to give up hope"Ahh well thats better."He sighed as they made their way to the audience hall.

When they arrived at the hall the old man was about to speak when the other stood infront he shouted"I......KIA....SU..... BRING......SEE.....ME......LORD....NOW!!!.The old man sighed and whispered something in the young mans ear and the young man seemed to stall in what appeared to be in deep thought before shouting"I....KIA....SU.....WISH...SEE....YOUR...LORD......NOWWWW!!!!!!!"
