One of the guards beside Kai stepped forward in order to do so. He waited to see if Ke had any other sort of business to discuss.

"Is there anything more I can say?" Ke looked puzzled, not knowing what the man expected of him. He merely bowed and rose, "I wish you continued good health, Lord Xiang." And then he turned to his escort and filed out.

Assuming he follows the man, he is led into the audience hall. After going through several halls, he is led into a large room, full of the citizens of Liang walking about, craftsmen, guards, civil officers and some others. The guard led his guest to a spot twenty feet away from the dais on which a man sat up on a chair. The guard announced, "Prefect Xiang Kai, Ba Zhan is here to see you."

Kai started, "Ahh, I am glad you have decided to come. Have you thought over what I wrote?"

Ba Zhan nodded. "Yeah, I thought 'bout it. After a bit, I thought that ya might need me, and I need some employment--not to mention some fun. So ya can consider me part o' yer crew now if ya want. Unless ya got anythin' else ya want ta ask me?"

He smiled, "Good... Good... I have heard enough of you and your talents to know you would be an invaluable addition to Liang. Welcome!"

The guards listened to the visitors. One of them, one can assume the guard captain, responded, "Alright, will you tell us? Or would you like to speak directly to the Marquis?"

Ke sighed. It had been nearly a month seince his first arrival here had gone so poorly. The fact that Bang had not had the foresight to interrupt his return trip with word of Xun Shang's letter was an annoyance. There was no need to wait until he had gotten all the way back to Changyi before making his turn around. He no doubt could have saved him a fortnight of traveling.

But here he was again at the castle gates, and there the guards were again as well. Nodding, he produced the letter, which was the only good thing about going back to Changyi, and looked it over once more. "I am here at the request of Lt. General Xun Shang. Please alert him that Dong Ke of Changyi has come to speak with him."
