The man's demeanour changed somewhat when Fei Lak spoke. The smirk returned, and he bowed in a way that made a mockery of the gesture.
"Ah, Great Lord Fei Lak! Master of Shanggu! Thank you greatly, for your generous welcome! However, you must train your dogs to mind their manners in the presence of their betters! Men of their type are always a hindrance!"
He a shot a scowl back towards the guards before he produced the letter again.
"Now, for the reason I came. It was you, who authored this letter? No need to answer, I know it was. It is no forgery."
He tore the letter to pieces and scattered the pieces into the air.
"This isn't worth my spit! I can see that you are indeed in need of men of my caliber!"
Suddenly, he let out a laugh of pure mirth. The smirk was replaced with a more natural smile.
"I think you will be satisfied with my services. But, of course, if I have offended you, then there are others who would gladly make use of me. Even in death, I'd have omeone asking for my service!"
He laugghed again, and awaited a response.
Lak raised an eyebrow.
"Well, Master... I will have to assume it is Master Shang from what I have heard."
The Prefect waited for confirmation before continuing.
"You see, though you have accurately pointed out my lack of talent with a pen, I believe you will have to concede that despite its lack of eloquence, it has accomplished its task since you are here now."
Lak shrugged.
"In Yan, by necessity, we are men of war. I have been told by many that a glaring weakness in my forces is a diplomatic talent that can make allies out of rivals and profit out of war. Though your recent display might put some ill at ease, I judge on results and yours are impressive from what I am told."
The prefect rose.
"If you accept to join us, you will be in charge of all diplomatic relations. This means you choose whom to send as envoys, you suggest which talent to go after. You will probably see some battlefield action as well as you will be in charge of proposing terms and such to our enemies."
"That, not the letter, is why I hope you have come here"

I fear that i will be removed from history soon, i am unworthy of kindness and ask that you do not share it with me and instead provide me what you would an average citizen Lord Fei Lak..." After finishing he clenched onto his chest as hard as he could attempting to keep his weak old heart moving, "I have come hearing of a young man i once new being deceased now, you may have heard of a Liu Kang, we bore the same family name and i once taught him an old village not far from here, he visited me before his death and told me of your wonders..." By then he had moved his hands to his knees as he sat like a wounded man... "If his words were true, that you are indeed his uncle, a great man then i have come to the correct place..."
"You knew my nephew?"
Lak still had some difficulty with the loss of Kang.
"He was one of the founders of this kingdom, I am honored you would come visit us! What can I do for you?"
