"I have not spoken with her. I only came this far because I was asked by the Raven Wind, because they vouched for you. Rumors thus far make it seem Yi Lian would be happy with little other then the title of 'empress.' And that she has no qualms about how it is attained. Most who already are governors prefer to stick it alone, for many truly desire to be emperor themself. I disdain open warfare- I only fight when one declares they are my enemy, operating against me openly. If she is content to be one of many, instead of one over many, I would be happy for you to speak with her for us, regardless of your membership." He spoke quietly, but his voice was confident and clear.

Lin Xin wrote:Liao was searched and led through the halls until reaching the double doors. With a nod to the guards, the attendant opened the doors to allow Laio to enter.

By now, the staff has gotten pretty efficient when it comes to preparing for visitors. Treats and desserts were already laid out on the small table and Xin had just finished pouring the fresh hot tea when the warrior walked in. Bowing, the Marquis says, "Ah, welcome to Yue Master Han. I'm glad you have arrived. Please make yourself comfortable and have some tea with me."
Once presented to the Marquis, and after introductions had been made along with the offering of tea, Liao accepts the refreshment before looking to his host and saying, "Your generosity has no equal my Lord, especially when wasted on one as lowly as I." After taking a sip of the tea and placing it upon the table, he then goes on to say, "I am but a lone soldier who has spent the past few years raiding supply wagons and acting as no more than a mere brigand. After my mother passed away I swore at the family shrine to serve a sovereign faithfully, in the hopes of gaining fame for my clan, and came here, at your request, after hearing of your virtue from a cousin of mine. Could you possibly have a position for someone as lacking in merit as I?"

His eyes begin to slowly scan the contents of the meeting room then settle once again on Lord Lin. With his hands now clasped and resting on his lap, he patiently awaits the Marquis' response before continuing.

Xin takes a seat himself as the tea was poured. He took a cup and blew on the hot liquid before replying with a smile, "You are speaking with him good sir." Taking a quick sip of the tea, he sets his cup down before continuing, "I'm glad my letter moved you. As you most well know, our beautiful country has fallen into turmoil, which saddens my soul. It is from the people that I serve where I get my inspiration."

Xin paused to allow the two to take a cup of tea or treats before stating, "As my responsibilities grow, so do the demands and expectations of the people."
Jiu Zang turned down the offerings with the wave of his hand. "We have already eaten before arriving here." Was his reply. Clearing his throat he nodded in approval. The letter scribe was the Ruler, it would seem. "All good things must come to an end, sadly." He began, "It was only a matter of time that we would repeat the same cycle that has been plaguing our people for many generations." Jiu Zang than shook his head slowly.

To this Gu Xi nodded accordingly. It was his turn to speak. "Ah, your life sounds quite exhilarating my Lord." Said the young Gu Xi, "Though we're but mere travelers. We know not what the hardships that you and the other Lords must share during this era of Chaos. It must be troubling, no?"

Xin cared not who ultimately welded power as long as the people were taken care of, especially his people in Yue. However, the arrogant side of him wants to believe that he can be successful in that endeavor as well. Reigning in his thoughts, and deciding to change the subject, Xin says, "I will definitely speak to her about this. I know the Marquis is also one who prefers a peaceful resolution over a bloody one," before asking, "So you say that Prince Fusu may not be the tyrant that his father was, but you know as well that it takes more than just compassion and forward-thinking to lead a nation such as ours. To be honest, the Prince still bears the legacy of his father, and the Qin leaves a bad taste in our mouths here at Yue."

Draining his cup of tea, Xin continues, "But that is something which can be discussed at another time. For now, know that I support the peaceful goals of the Brotherhood and will speak to Marquis Yi on that subject. We have worked hard to bring some semblence of peace and stability here in the southern part of China and I, for one, will not allow it to unravel too easily." With a smile, Xin set his cup down and concluded, "Ruruong mentioned to me that he was headed to Changsha. Once Guiji is liberated, which I expect will be by the end of this month, is there anything I can do to support your efforts in that yet-untamed province?"

Xin nodded in understanding. "It is unfortunate the troubles caused by such turmoil and instability," he said with a smile. "One must do what one can, especially to take care of family and loved ones. You raided in order to survive. I can respect that. Now, you are honoring your mother and the name of your family. I believe destiny has a place for for you yet Master Han."

"You will be the greatest champion that Yue has seen. You're exploits on the battlefield will be spoken about for generations. How can I allow such a rare talent to pass? I have position for you and welcome you with open arms into our family. A servant will help you get settled."

Xin nods soberly at Gu Xi. "You are quite right young Master. The safety and well-being of the people is a great burden, but one that I welcome enthusiastically. My father always said, 'To those much that has been given, much is expected.' We have been blessed with the opportunity to make a real difference in this world, and, unfortunately, our world needs us now more than ever. That is why I wrote to the good Master Jiu, for his skill with the sword and in creating sword, will be of great benefit."

Returning his focus back to Jiu, Xin asks, "So will you be willing to assist me? Not only do I need someone who can train my ever increasing army, I also need a mastersmith who can help oversee the production of equipment for this growing army. While I will make every effort to seek a peaceful resolution using diplomacy, I must, at the same time, prepare for the worst aggressions."

Liao bowed again at hearing such praise, saying in turn, "I assure you that I am nothing to boast about, and are hardly a champion. But I appreciate your kind words all the same. Know that my ability with a sword will be greatly overshadowed by my loyalty and courage." That said he turns to leave with the servant, inwardly proud to have found a worthy liege to serve.

"If you still decline membership, I am sad to say there is nothing you can do for us, just yet. Words are one thing in this time of chaos, actions are another." He said with a sad smile, obviously wishing to believe Lin Xin. "If you were to be part of this membership, we would gladly fold our Changsha resources into your group and use that to liberate and unite the province." He finished his tea. "as for Fusu, we will not support any despot. He will learn that now, or he will learn it on his deathbed. It is as simple as that. China deserves men like you, Marquis, and I intend to see she gets them."

Xin nods. "Thank you for understanding Brother Lao. I am not ruling out joining the Brotherhood. In fact, if it was just me, I would gladly assist a just cause. However, I cannot fully commit my people to this just yet, though my offer of assistance stands, should you ever need it."

"I hope that Prince Fusu is worthy of our support as well. I guess only time will reveal the true intent of man, eh?" Sensing all that needs to be said has been said, Xin concluded, "And thank you for your kind words Brother Lao. I will continue to strive towards a strong and peaceful nation, with the welfare of the people in mind."

"Actually, my expertise is with the spear." Corrected Jiu Zang in a polite manner, "As for employment? You have me convinced however..." He looked to Gu Xi. The young man was busy looking at some scrolls before him. Sometimes he shook his head and sometimes he nodded in approval. "My young master desires that I don't be rude to the others that desire my talents as well. Thus he wants me to visit the other Lords. If I don't he will go alone and I can't allow that since he's my charge." Than Jiu Zang bowed his head, "Surely you understand my situation, Lord? I swore an oath to his father and only the pain of death will separate me from it."

Lin Xin wrote:Xin gently touched his shoulder, which is still heavily bandaged under his robe, before gesturing for Ling to have a seat. "Please thank the Marquis for me and for the concern shown for my minor injury. That treacherous Xue Jin showed his true colors out there on the battlefield.."

Pouring a cup of tea both for himself and Ling, Xin sat down and continued with a smile, "How is Marquis doing herself? I've heard she has begun her goal of bringing stability to Wu with her victory last month. It brings joy to my heart to see a neighbor who cares as much about the people as I do."
(I know that you've reached an agreement, but I thought I would continue the roleplay)

Shen Ling thankfully took a sip of the tea because she needed it. Looking at the bandage, she was caring in the way she looked. After taking that sip of tea, she replied.

Shen Ling: My Lady Marquis is doing well. She sent me to improve our relationship. Her goal to stabilize Wu is going well as it is one of the many borders she has to her home in Huainan. I believe I am being sent to Guangling this coming month. It is my responsibility to bring to you good tidings and a congratulations, with hope to continue our relationship.

Shen Ling paused.

Shen Ling: May I ask a personal question, if you don't mind my prying? What made you decide to become a ruler here in Yue Province? If you don't feel like answering, you do not have to.

"Contact me soon, Your Excellency, while we, together, can still do great good for this land. Too much time, and we may be shackled by lost opportunities and overgrown opposition." He bowed low, and waited to be excused.
