Chapter VII: Battle Management

Post by Phailak »

Battle Management - Phase II

Turns have 5 phases and four of those are for battles and are represented differently in the BM tool. Once phase 1 is completed and there are attacks submitted, attackers and defenders MUST go to their BM tool and make decisions / selections.

So during phase 2, there are three sections to look at.

First section is for attackers. They can select a spy action and decide to proceed, support, reinforce, or withdraw.

Image

If you are defending, you will see a list of your attackers, a list of your defenses if any already set and be able to set your defending army. Select which officers to send, amount of soldiers and armaments and you should see it appear in the list of defenders now as below in second image. You can also see the size of the garrison that will reinforce NOTE you need officers to defend, a garrison without an officer will not defend.
If you wish to send reinforcements to a neighboring location, you may access that in the BM tool and set the officers, troops, and arms you wish to send. The player you are reinforcing with be the one to set tactics.

Battle Management - Phase III

Champions

In this phase, each side will decide if they send a champion out to challenge the opposite side. To do so, the target has to have the Persuasion skill. He also has to send a target. If both sides send a champion, those two duel it out. However, if either side does not, the challenger has a chance to 'force' a duel with his target based off the challenge formula:

((Challenger's Cha *2 ) - (Defender's Judgement + Defenders Intelligence)) + ((Defender's Might /2 ) - (Attacker's Might /2 )) + 10% per level of Persuasive

Note: Formula is designed to make it impossible to target low MIG officers, especially those with good ING and JUD. However, high MIG characters make for good targets (for example high COM and MIG characters).

User simply selects his champion (tool will only list those that have the Persuasion skill) and the target he wishes to challenge.

Battle Management - Phase IV

Attack or defense uses the same principles. The idea is to set which officers will go into which layer, set each layer's soldiers and armaments as well as a target for the support layer (melee or opposing support layer).

First section will show you who is attacking who and how soldiers and armaments each side has.

Image

Here you simply want to assign your officers to one of the two layers. Keep in mind some tactics are only available in certain layers. First officer you add to a layer makes him commander of that layer by default, it can be changed after.

Image

Below is what the list of officers looks like once added. Now you can remove the officer to reassign if needed or set his tactics and targets of such tactics when needed (like for effectiveness tactics). Don't forget to save once you assigned the 6 rounds of tactics

Below is where you set soldiers and armaments for each layer.
