Governor Zhang Puyang didn't really trust either of his subordinates. In fact, he particularly didn't trust Zongli Quqi, the upstart from Zhao. He hadn't relied on his officers to aid him in running the city. He had commanded the militia, and he had crushed the rebellions. He was the one who did everything. With this in mind, he divided his army carefully, keeping most of his men under his direct command. He gave Lei Jai a small force, and only sent 333 men to Zongli to guard the supplies. There was no way the man could betray him with such a piddly force.

When Zhao Ning's army arrived on the field, Zhang was somewhat taken aback by the size of the army and the forest of fine spearmen. Still, not for a moment did he consider surrendering to such a loud-mouthed fool. Before Zhao could even form his troops into line, Zhang led his force to the attack.

Zhao Ning, of course, had receive reports of the piddly number of guards in charge of the governor's supplies. Ordering his spearmen to hold their ground, he took a small force around Zhang's army, and began a series of lightning raids against the supply lines. Shi Fen also kept up a barrage, directing his slingers to rain stones down on the enemy support troops.

Though Zongli Quqi fought gamely, his small force was soon routed under the repeated attacks, and as he fled, he was captured easily by Zhao Ning's men.

When word reached Zhang Puyang of the destruction of his support troops, he merely shrugged and ordered another assault. As Lei Jai tried to comply, he too was enveloped off by Zhao Ning's forces and he was captured. Grimly, and convinced even further he should never have trusted his two officers, Zhang Puyang fought on. Zhao Ning's Army has won the engagement.

Zhao Ning, seeing his tactics succeed, began to press his advantage. The governor's forces were growing weaker with every battle as Zhao Ning forced them from the field and towards the city. Their supplies were being destroyed, and their ability to counterattack was becoming almost non-existant.

Zhang Puyang, of course, could sense that his army was slowly falling apart, but he could think of no way to stop it. Racking his brains, he tried mustering his men for one last stand, but again and again the spearmen broke his lines and he was forced to retreat. In only a day, his army was on the plains before his city. As he tried to retreat into it, Zhao Ning cut him off, cut his last soldiers to pieces, and captured him. The governor did not go down easily, taking a wound as he fought as long as he could.

Question on captured soldiers, can they be put into my assigned soldiers for now? I don't wish to merge them with this particular army. Also the spoils can be put anywhere.

After hearing the news that the seige of Shouyang was going well Cheng Dang made the trip to congratulate Zhao Ning on victory, and to deal with the aftermath. All three officers are brought 20 paces before Cheng Dang and his officers who are having a small picnic sitting down in the grass outside of Shouyang, flanked by two guards behind him, and 10 guards behind the prisoners. There is an assortment of drinks and food for all to enjoy except the guards who will be rewarded momentarily.
