Tian Gong and Ren Bing were both finally thrown out of the Kings hall. Having conceded to the King's command, and the guards rough handling of them, they both were reunited with their small escort. Brushing himself off before mounting his horse, Gong turned to his apprentice. "Hmph! I see that we were mistaken about our good king. He will rue this day, young Ren. They will both rue this day!" The party of twelve then mounted and made their way back to Zhengen, in Jiaodong.

Xu Lei approached the audience hall of Tian Dan, followed by a younger compatriot. The old man approached a guard and saluted him.

Lei: I am Xu Lei, a man of Qufu. I wish to attain an audience with your Lord or whoever is in charge. I consent to any searches you deem necessary. My pupil shall wait outside for me.

Xu Shu:
Happy at seeing a suitably humble person for a change, the guards go easy with their search. Shortly afterward, Xu Lei is led through the hallways and into a rather large office with space for shelves, desks, guards, and room to spare; they were literally fit for a King. Tian Dan had just finished writing a document as the man was led in and announced. "What can I do for one of my subjects?," he said in a neutral manner.

Lei bowed deeply to the King.

Lei: Forgive me for bothering you, my king. I am a man of Qufu, and was an adviser to the governor there for decades. Lately, for reasons beyond my comprehension, I have grown in disfavor of the governor, and I fear for the life of my family. I have decided it would be best to leave Qufu, but I did not know where to turn, since I do not know where to find a suitable job and income. I was wondering if I may find service under Your Majesty. I have experience in civil administration and construction planning, and would gladly toil under someone who has worked so enthusiastically for law and order. However, if you have no need for someone old and feeble such as me, I shall understand, and will seek a life elsewhere. I just wish to remain in Qi, my homeland.

Lei bowed again to the king. Remaining bowed, he awaited a response.

(OOC: Sorry if I took some RP privileges with the whole "adviser to Qufu governor". I'm also assuming Qufu isn't under your direct control, if it is, the RP could get awkward.)

It had been quite a journey from Yan to Qi, though very enjoyable for Yingqong; finally being allowed to leave her home and searchthe land. The province was just as the man Lao Yongrui spoke of, it's beauty was far better than Yan's and it made the young Liu smile even being here. On horse back Yongqing was accompanied by a small group of maids, all wearing the same fine silks while the young Liu wore a more courtial attire of very fine silk; elaborate in colour, wielding embroidery of butterflies (a symbol of beauty and innocence). Approaching the gates Yongqing dismounted, but gestured towards the maids to stay on their horses. Gazing at the guards, the young Liu was quite excited to be here, the visage of Yongqing was beautiful as the sun shone down onto it; the eyes glistening like clear water. Speaking, the tone of her voice was clam with enchanting melodies. "My name is Liu Yongqing, I have come from Yan province to speak with the King Tian; however, if he is busy at the time it would be an honour to speak with someone else." Bowing graciously to the guards, the young Liu smiled friendly to the guards; her face beaming with the freshness of summer and the happiness that Qi province gave her...

Xu Shu:
"You have fallen out of favor with Han Mai, have you? Well," he added, "Han Mai has fallen out of favor with me! The fool has refused to send me taxes or troops for my army, but he will be dealt with soon enough." Tian Dan leaned forward slightly, making sure to remove the ink from in front of him before so. "You said you are versed in civic duties?" He thought for a short moment before answering. "You could do well here. With the exception of my Prime Minister, Tian Jue, my court is lacking skilled politicians. And if you are less skilled than you say, it is a small thing to remedy."

Dan nodded. "I accept you into my service, Xu Lei. You will have to earn your rewards, but give me successes and you shall be rewarded."

Lei came up from his bow, with a look of gratitude on his face.

Lei: I thank you, my King. I am sincerely grateful for your favor, and shall do all in my power to please you. Also, before I left Qufu, a pupil of mine followed me here. His name is Mai Ci, and he is well versed in speedy battle tactics, and is also a capable administrator as well. If you have no need for more men, then I will ask him to return to his family. If you wish, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind entering your services as well.

Lei bowed again, awaiting a response.

Xu Shu:
"Hmm, I will give this man a chance to prove himself on your recommendation and if the clerks don't need him, there are always opening in the military." The King gave no one in particular a satisfied nod and a small smile. "Today you must get acquainted with your surroundings and tomorrow you will begin to work." He pointed vaguely in the direction of a few guards. "Have them walk around with you and explain where things are. Dismissed."

A guard grunted at the woman, "Hoping to speak with his Lord the King, uh? His time is currently taken up dealing with matters of the state, but I'll arrange for you to speak with Marshal Heng. Come with me!" The new recruit had the royal gates opened and escorted the woman into the central administration building.

As scribes and various political aides scurried through the halls, the guard forced his way through the hectic mass of people until reaching the private quarters of the Marshal of Qi. "In here you'll find the Lord Marshal, Tian Heng. He has recently become quite popular with the common people, so I'm sure you should find him more accommodating than His Majesty the King." With that, the guard opened the door and escorted the famle inside.

"My lord," He bagan, "this female has asked to speak with a member of the royal household, so I have brought her to your quarters."

Tian Heng nodded to the guard has he was dismissed, "Thank you captain, you may leave." Heng then turned his attention to the female, offering her a seat on the floor. In the room existed no chairs, tables or desks as Tian Heng had preferred to live a humble lifestyle. He gestured for the female to take a seat on the floor as he did so himself. "You must excuse the captain of his terrible manners, but he simply wishes to carry on his duties without disturbances. Now tell me, what is your name and from which province do you hail from?" Heng leaned forward, placing his chin atop his fist.
