Kai sat back in his chair as he began answering him, "In Liang? Well, to unite the whole of it, bring back order and justice, and rid ourselves of the nonsense and corruption that has been plaguing it for too long. Though, I am happy to say, there is but one more major city before I can at least say the province is united. And then, we will just have to work on bringing the other things, order, prosperity, as we have been doing already in the domain that we already control. Beyond these goals... well, we'll see once we accomplish this first. One has to finish what one starts before moving on to other things, you know? As for my officers, I can only hope that I can help them realize their own goals that they have for the future. Tell me, what are your goals?"

He took a deep breath and breathed out as he finished up, and then waited for Hou's answer.

Lu Hou listened and drank the water as he listened. Once in a while, he would watch Xiang Kai's reaction as he spoke.

Lu Hou: My goals? My goals, in seeking employment, is to aid someone of worth to his, or her goals. I am an Engineer, I am not a leader. Do you have any questions for me?

"Well, your talent would be very helpful to the people here in Liang. Though many have seen it fit to neglect the civil side of affairs in order to focus on raising large armies for war and conquest, I have put great focus into developing the province so as to help raise the standard of living of the people of Liang. Now... you've told me your own goals. But in looking for a lord to serve, what is it that you desire in such a leader? Certainly one has to be discriminating in this search?"

One guard, presumably the captain, answers him, "Sure, we just need to search and remove any weapons as per protocol, and I can lead you right to him. Do you consent?"
"What!?" A small man spurs his horse forward, moving past the burly man. "You dare impugn my honor and treat me as a common assassin? I am Colonel Gongsun Qing, in service to the Marshal of Chu! I will be escorted as befits my station, and I will retain my belt knife in any audience with the Prefect. You send a message to your master right now, explaining your arrogant demand! I am sure he will see me immediately, and you will be lucky to not be whipped!"

One of the guards scurries into the city with this new piece of information. Returning a few moments later, he declared in a defeated manner, "OK, you can come in... Come with me."

If he follows, he is lead into the city, to the audience hall. The guard stops, announcing to the audience hall guards, "This is the Colonel Gongsun Qing whose arrival was declared earlier. Please lead him straight to the prefect."

"Aye, follow me." He is led into the audience hall accompanied by a two guards. Later, arriving not at the usual office that Kai occupied, but in an enormous hall, they would see a group of people surrounding a podium type thing at the end of the room where Xiang Kai sat on a comfortable chair. As Qin and his escorts neared the man, the people surrounding Kai gradually noticed and got out of the way. With several guards at his sides, he called out, "Ah, hello Colonel Gongsun Qing, how are you today? I did not expect your arrival. To what do I owe this pleasure?"

The colonel preened as he strode forwards towards Xiang Kai and gave a small bow, smoothing his sparse moustache with one hand.

"The roads in Liang are terrible, Prefect, and bandits abound along the border between Liang and Jiaoxi. I am quite tired, however I will carry my mission out despite my difficulties."

He straightened and then barked, "Marshal Qin Jia wishes to meet with you at some neutral location. He is in the process of shifting his armies from Jiaoxi to Liang to be closer to the heart of his beloved Chu, and would speak with one who commands so much of his country. He proposes a meeting at Dang Town. He will bring an escort of 200, and requests that you do the same. Is this acceptable?"

Kai thought to himself, Independent armies coming to Liang, what can one think of this? "Sure," he began, "that is acceptable. On what date shall this meeting be held? And may I ask now what his plans are in regard to Liang, or would that spoil his message to me at this meeting?"

A man of medium stature slowly and quietly made his way through the city of Dingtao. Every few steps the man would let out a loud chuckle while he made his way to where he presumed the castle would be. Approaching it the man spoke to the first guard he came upon.

"Hello, I wish to have an audience with Deng Zilong. I received a letter from him and I wish to further discuss what was mentioned in the letter with him."

Looking down at his feet and shaking his head he let out a few more chuckles and awaited a response.

The guards were confused as to why the man was chuckling, but said nothing. It wasn't their duty to do so.

"Well then... If its the Colonel, then you do not need a search. Please follow me." Deng Zilong had specifically ordered that anyone who came to him would not be searched. He was not fond of the idea of taking away weapons, and there seemed to be no point since the visitors were not going to see Xiang Kai.

Guiding Sun Mu to a small office, they opened the door and motioned for him to go in. Inside was a man in brown armor, rocking his chair from the back legs and seemingly bored. When he heard the door open, he stopped.

“Hmm? Haven’t seen you around before, who are you?” Zilong asked Sun Mu.

Guo Shao and his retainer make there way through the city to the audience hall. Noting the seemingly happy bustle and how the city looked prosperous they were pleased and as they approached the guards they had smiles upon their faces. Stopping and looking at the lightly armed guards Guo Shao nods happily to the best presented one.

"I am Guo Shao and this is my retainer Man Lin. Your Lord asked us to come here to see him on some matter of employment. Perhaps we would be allowed to see him? I carry no weapons, my sword was lost in the flight from my former town, fell free to search me and my man however."
