Kurt Cobain wasn't that impressive (including song writing), just that Nirvana became so much more popular because they would go more mainstream to appeal to the most people. He and the rest of the band recieved a lot of attention. The two most popular of the grunge bands were the two worst.

...And I don't care that much about Pink Floyd getting back together for a concert, or whatever they did. They certainly won't be getting any better, it is just a let down for people who expect more.
Just out of interest, who would you see as some the best grunge bands ever?

Pink Floyd is a difficult one that only the most avid music listeners can appreciate and understand. They make references that are specific only to a type of targetted audience, they didn't expect everyone to understand them.

Well there weren't many grunge bands. Some say Foo Fighter, Lighthouse, Audioslave, and etc (some newer alternative bands with grunge history [such as Chris Cornell]) are grunge bands, but they aren't.

The best grunge band was the rarely known Mad Season. It was a grunge super band formed by Layne Staley of Alice in Chains, as vocalist, two guys from Pearl Jam, one from Screaming Trees, and one from no where. It was a side project to everyone in the band, and they were only together for a year and a half. They had one CD (Above) and a few live performances. But undoubtedly that one CD has been the best I have ever heard, and Mad Season was the best of all the grunge bands (widely accepted fact). It is good litsening for everyone.

But they only had one CD. Some of the other grunge bands lasted longer and made more. There was a band similiar to Mad Season, it was Temple of the Dog. Like Mad Season it was formed by some of the best in grunge (including the arguably best vocalist ever, Chris Cornell), and they only had one CD. But it was a softer side of grunge, and the one self titled CD they had was almost as awesome.

The best grunge bands that had multiple CDs would probably be Alice in Chains and Soundgarden.

*Celebrates that I have some CDs of the above two bands*

Umm Foo Fighters? They're most definately Alternative Rock, not grunge. I quite like Audioslave myself, I bought the CD looked in the album covers and noticed was it the lead from Soundgarden and guitarist from... dam can't remember his name. Out of Exilw is being spun quite a lot by my CD player at the moment.

Listening to Trivium CD now :D

Has anybody here listened to 'Melon Collie and the infinate sadness' by the smashing pumpkins? If not, it is awesome :) , especially 'Tonight Tonight' and 'Galapogos'. Being the cynical little sod i am, i thought they were all teenage angst, but when i actually listened to it, it was great! :D

*Sighs* I worry about my cousin sometimes. I found an Elton John greatest hits CD in his carry case, next to all things a DMX Album!

A musician from the late 80's. Well, I think it was the late 80's. I honestly can't remember.

I think it was more or less the entire 80's. I think, nowadays, what George Michael is most famous for is how he "came out" to be gay; that is, being caught with a male prostitute in Central Park.
