Bio:

The Kong clan served under the Tian clan for generations even before their seizure of power in 532. The Kongs played a prominent role as military commanders in the Tian's consolidation of power in Qi in the 480's. Their accomplishments were rewarded generously and the Kong family became landed. The humble military family was dropped face first into the cesspool of Qi nobility in all of its decadence and pettifogging. The family has done little of note since except playing into the politics in the Qi court, until...

In 286, Kong Tanmeng's grandfather, Kong Zhengmu, participated in King Min of Qi's victorious campaigns against the Song. Shortly after, Zhengmu served as a subcommander under Lord Mengchang (Tian Wen) in their disastrous campaign against Chu in which a major victory was won, but the victory quickly overturned when the Qi armies succumbed to attrition. The ministers of Qi placed all of the blame on Tian Wen, who was exiled. King Min, known for his paranoia, was convinced that the Kong family had a part in deliberately sabotaging the campaign's success, and Kong Zhengmu was forced to commit suicide as the alternative was the execution of his family. The Kong family was then stripped of their noble title and possessions. When Yue Yi led Yan's army in an invasion of Linzi, Qi's capital in 284, the Kong family came to a consensus to reclaim it's former glory as it gathered a volunteer force to repel the invaders while King Min fled to Ju. With very little support, the defending force was quickly overrun and the Kong family was put to the blade and Linzi was subsequently sacked.

Kong Tanmeng's father, Kong Fengwu, was the youngest son of Zhengmu and the only male survivor of the rape of Linzi. He was of high moral fiber, just as his father had been, and valued family above all else. When the Qin marched on Qi to unify the Middle Kingdom in 221, Fengwu likened the event to the sacking of Linzi by Yan and raised a small garrison to hold off the invaders while expecting Qi to assemble their forces. Kong Fengwu's army, being ill equipped and massively outnumbered, were soundly defeated and Fengwu was executed in a mirror image of his family. Qi's forces were never assembled and Qin unified China in 221.

Kong Tanmeng became the head of the clan at the tender age of 13. Their resources were exhausted and meager, and his mother had succumbed to dementia and other mental illnesses. He used the last of their family's resources to treat his mother's illnesses, but to no avail. Tanmeng's chief servant urged him to marry, but his wife died shortly after giving birth to his two daughters, Liqiu (b. 214) and Qiao (b. 212). His wife was angered to discover the family's poor estate and berated Tanmeng, though he never harbored any ill feelings towards her and instead blamed himself over the incident. With the finances of the family in ruins, he entered in the service of Liu Bang as a minor commander in their western campaign against Qin. Although he preformed well on the battlefield, his commanders took a personal disliking to him as his quiet and humble nature was met with distrust. He returned home with a lackluster military career and a mounting debt, and he was forced to move his family to Jiaoxi in 205 and leave the Kong's ancient homeland of Qi.

As a well off war strategist and locally known scribe, Jin's father taught the boy everything he knew. However, with his father's old age and under growing illness, Jin watched as his dad slowly began to wilt away, passing away in their countryside home just outside the city.

With his father passed away, Jin continued his studied and perfected the arts of deceptic speech and strategic war defense and offensive tactics. The growing male had a genuine way with words; He was cunning, yet stern in his actions. Jin had but only one ally and friend, his father's closest advisor; Zhao Jui. The older man who's age only rivaled his wisdom was the closest thing Jin had left to family. At the age of twenty, he had become known in Zhaoge as a deceiving, yet intelligent strategist, who's scribing skills were already beginning to rival his father's at such a young age.

Present day; Jin resides at his family's estate, taking over as the head of house and working on different strategic ideas and advances in war tactics. His works could inspire fear in even the most brave of armies, rally depressed soldier's morale to higher spirits or confuse the enemy's advances on the battle field with formations and tactics that he had studied since his teenage years.
