Wu Chen nodded and smiled with glee. It seemed that recently things were going his way and he always had reason to be happy. "Ah yes, you see things my way then. I was merely stating the beginning of my plans, however you can see to the end. Yes a great kingdom across the land. If only you could help me accomplish it?"
The scholar smiled to the King and gave a bow, "Thank you King Wu, however, I cannot decide on anything today. I intend to return home and think, I have to prepare myself to leave Yue and my ancestral home. I must also consult with my better half," he said, before breaking off into a slight chuckle. "If I were to help you achieve this end, what type of post would I receive, if you do not mind my asking?"

"Very well, Your Highness. I will return to Donga and put my plans into effect." he said with a crisp salute and turned to leave.

((As good a point as any to end this, unless there's anything else.))

Cai Xingzhe made his bow and then, with a look of distinct pleasure, delivered the good news to Wu Chen.

"Prefect Shang Pang is dead, along with all traces of Qin influence in Donga. I have come to report my success in taking the city in your name." he declared proudly. "The remainder of the army stationed there, some three-thousand, five-hundred men strong, has surrendered with a goodly number of arms and officers."

Haoqi motioned for one of the King's attendants to come forward and recieve a sealed document, which would turn out to be a report on the taking of the city and a manifest of sorts.

"There is something else, however. Did you hear of the riots to the North? I feel there is cause for concern in light of the uprising in Ji, in light of the plans which we agreed upon last month." he said, genuinely worried by it.

He would almost certainly be in trouble if Wu Chen was obstinate about Haoqi having to surrender Donga to Lu Ying. Whether it was the Prefect or his own people, someone would be out for blood should he fail to reach a new agreement.

Wu Chen was pleased that the man showed him the respect deserving of a king of his status. He smiled and after the man had finished speaking said, "I too believe it wise for the various powers that be to show friendship and courtesy to one another. As you may have heard, I am spreading my rule to Changshan and would not like to have to face off against an enemy in the east, considering the sizable force I have sent there. I have a dream of unifying the North, whether through arms or through diplomacy, and it seems that in this case diplomacy may be the better of the two means to achieve my ends. Allying yourself with me comes with obligations however..."

He grew very serious because he had to make sure the man knew what he was in for. "I am out for Chu blood, after they have brutally murdered my family and my heir. Should the Chu attempt to move north, you shall be expected to halt their cruelty. Also the Qin are not to fond of my endeavors and moving south might be dangerous for you. But I swear, should you stay loyal to any pact we might agree upon, I shall uphold my end."

Wu Chen smiled and allowed the man to leave.

Wu Chen was definitely pleased to hear of the news of Donga first hand. However upon hearing the correlation between the current situation and Ji, Wu Chen grew frustrated. He could not afford to lose the city in rebellion, yet he did not wish to break his promise to Lu Ying. Finally Wu Chen said, "I wish for you to rule the city in my name, working in close collaboration with Lu Ying for the general safety of the province. After you have built you forces I shall grant you with a decree to move south, Lu Ying will be allow to move North, given the confines of Jibei. Once we are able, we may make a united movement south and take what rightfully belongs to us, and to help better the people. However, that is far into the future and we must focus on the now."

A frog had formed in Laoxin's throat when the word 'obligations' was uttered. Surely, the Prefect expected this from the King of Zhao, yet the verbalization of the wants and needs made a knot form in his stomach. This was his first diplomatic venue, and already he was showing subservience in bending over backwards for Chen. This was necessary, though, to ensure a solid understanding between the two forces so that he could use Wu Chen as his own protective barrier. Preparing for an encounter with the Chu Province was a small deed in the scholar's eyes.

"Agreed. However, to make use of this shared defense, I thought it would be best to consolidate our borders. This would also encourage fair trade between our two establishments, helping us out in the long run. That being said, I would be willing to take control of Jinyang in the coming months. This way, I have a direct route to Changshan, and should you need military aid lest surprises release themselves at that point in time, I could be of assistance. What does the insightful King think of this first step?" he asked, inclining his head momentarily to show a little more respect.

Haoqi nodded to show his understanding of his new orders and though his outward emotions mirrored the King's disappointment, he was actually quite philosphical about this change of plans now. Jibei was his home and if he had to stay there for a bit longer then that would be more than alright. Besides, he'd grown rather fond of his surroundings in Donga's palace in the short time he'd been there.

"It cannot be helped, but you need have no concerns, my King. I will collaborate fully with Lu Ying to ensure that no invader sets foot on the soil of my home. To that end, might I have document recognising my continued occupation of Donga? It would expedite the diplomatic process between Prefect Lu and I." he said reassuringly.

"Please inform the King of Zhao that Lady Xian An is here to speak with him in regards to Lady Lu Ying." The towering woman states, her face uncharacteristically serious. "Also, a gesture of good will." She unhooks the twin axes from her dress and plants them in the ground, Xian An then turns her head slightly to Qian-Qian, who was standing professionally behind her.

Qian-Qian, showed that all she was carrying were some papers, about half were filled with sketches of high quality. "My name is Qian-Qian, I serve under my Lady Xian An." She stated in a well-mannered tone, quite the difference to Xian An's throaty voice.

He could only look into her face and after a few moments was able to say casually, "Yes, yes, do as you wish. You shall be free to do as you wish, my queen or otherwise, I will be here in Zhao awaiting your return. I had actually called you here to tell you that I am officially mandating your invasion into Jibei, to take it in its entirety as you so desire, however Donga is under negotiations. Eventually, our armies will march across the land victoriously. And the day you wish to settle down, marry, or whatever with me, I will wait here for you."
Lu Ying smiled broadly at the Kings responce, his understanding and generosity was something special and unexpected, especially from a man of such high standing who could take what he wanted, regardless of what she wished.

"In your name then my king, I will take Jibei" She said with a smile. "And I will return, never feel you are alone for in spirit, I will always stand by your side"

Wu Chen raised his hand in a gesture suggesting a halt in the man's speech. That city had already been planned for. Looking to the man trying not to offend him or make him believe that Wu Chen was trying to strong arm him. Wu Chen thought himself a fair man and so he would try to compromise with the man. "Alas, that city and Pingyang have been calculated into my overall strategy, If I am to aid you militarily, I will need a venue into Wei. I would suggest to you though to try not to expand too quickly and stretch yourself to thin. The local governors have powerful garrisons and your newly established army would suffer great losses to them. Take the surrounding towns and villages or expand into Di, I would fully support you in such an endeavor."

Wu Chen nodded and gestured for an attendant, he requested a scribe and ink and soon both were produced. Sitting in his throne, Wu Chen dictated the contents of the document.
September 209,

By the authority of my office and by the people of Donga, I hereby declare that the bearer of this document officially holds the city of Donga in the name of the Kingdom of Zhao. He therefore assumes all responsibilities attached and swears to uphold virtue and goodwill in his service to the kingdom and to the people, and understands that failure to do so, or failure to show loyalty to the crown, will result in the immediate revocation of this document and making his governorship null in void.

The guards took the weapons for the ladies and began to escort them into the halls of the king. Stopping at the various checkpoints to verify the identity of the guard and his guests, the ladies were led finally to the King's chambers. Into the long hall way, they could see Wu Chen seated on his throne behind a line of soldiers and a small wall extending to both sides of the room. They were stopped 20 paces into the room and when they had the guard announced them. "My Lord, Lady Xian An & her lady, Qian-Qian, for the armies of Prefect Lu Ying."

Wu Chen perked up at the mention of Lu Ying and turned his full attention to the ladies. Smiling he welcomed them, "Welcome to Zhao my esteemed guests. I believe I have seen you before in the camp outside of Yanyu. What brings you to Zhao?"

Lu Ying

Wu Chen smiled again, he could not stop. He felt like the king he knew he was. Perhaps Lu Ying could furnish him a new heir that would completely unite the lands one day. Until then, he would wait on her. "My lady, you are always with me in spirit. When you return to my home, I am even happier. I wish you success in you endeavors for the kingdom, not only as the king, but on a personal level. The chroniclers will remember you fondly."

He stopped, for he knew she had to return to her people. "My lady, you are free to go and do as you wish. You are welcome to stay for a day or so, but if you must, please do not hesitate to leave."

"You bring me here, King of Zhao." She said, bowing deeply at the same time as Qian-Qian, who stood a little behind Xian An to her left side. "Firstly, my subordinate Qian-Qian wishes to record your image, may you permit her to do so?"

Qian-Qian's eyes widen, she hadn't expected her request to come out so suddenly. Clutching her papers, she blushes and stares at the ground. The view of Wu Chen wasn't really that good... maybe this was a bad idea...

"As you have been told, I am Lady Xian An, under Lady Lu Ying." She continues after he answers the first question. "My lady does not know I am here, this is completely of my own volition. I have a few things I need to... clear up in my mind before anything gets out of hand."

The unarmed woman glances around at all the guards stationed about and thinks to herself.

"Also, I would like to humble request a talk in private. All my weapons have been removed and I will never... ever do anything to hurt Yingy... I mean My lady. You mean too much to her." Whoops, slipped up a little there! She thought to herself, her seriousness fading for a second into embarassment, then quickly realigning itself.

Qian-Qian was panicking a little, she didn't have the best eyesight in the world and was unable to sketch properly, she made cute little noises while trying to stand on her toes for a better view.

"We have also brought a gift." Xian An reaches back for Qian-Qian to hand her something, which quickly gets located through the stack of papers and passed over. "This is an image of My lady, drawn on her throne, by Qian-Qian." Xian An holds out the masterpiece to a nearby guard, who I would assume tastes it for poison before running over to Wu Chennorz... but I'm not going to RP any guards am i! AHAHA.

Cai Xingzhe accepted the document with due reverence and bowed once again to Wu Chen, pleased that the situation had been resolved so amicably. Lu ying had been icy and difficult before, but surely she would be far more reasonable now that he had the King of Zhao's authority on his side. Retire to his estate indeed!

"I am sure His Highness must be very busy and I would not dare to intrude for longer than is necessary, so is there anything else that you require of me before I go?" Haoqi asked.

Truthfully, he didn't expect there do be anything further to discuss, although he would be quite happy to offer advice if asked for it and more than happy to receive the gold that had been promised to him. It wasn't that he was greedy but it would certainly help get Donga back on its feet.
