Kung Xian's Audience Hall - Ji

Post by ann »

Following his seizure of Ji, Kung Xian strengthened the garrison of Ji by adding in his own personal forces. Wishing to keep the city within the grasp of him and the Yan Coalition, he placed more troops on the walls of the city and at all of the city's gates. Within the city itself he had ordered more patrols around the marketplace and more importantly, the Administrative Complex.

All who wish to enter must submit their weapons and consent to a search. Only then will they be allowed past the metal gates and up the stairs to pass through the large bronzxe doors of the main building.

From there they would be escorted through the guarded hallway, filled with busy clerks, to a large bronze door with ingraved images of a army of warriors fighting a dragon. Beyond the door was the audience hall of the Regional Governor of the Yan Coalition, Kung Xian. The audience hall is filled with clerks, advisors, and guards, all surrounding a large bronze throne where Kung Xian sat...

Han Ziu made his way to the audience hall, the one his cousin had told him to go. He asked his men to wait outside the city so as to not cause trouble

Ziu: I am here to see Lord Kung, I will submit to any searches required

He hoped this would not take long, he did not like being away from his men

The guards did a quick but thorough search . One of the guards then said, "Follow me." The guard led him through the halls of the Administration Building until they reached the bronze doors of the audience hall. The guards outside the door opend the doors and waited for the man to enter.

Inside there was over two dozen people standing completely still, all surrounding the bronze thrown where a muscular old man sat. The old man was wearing worn blue armor and held a powerful spear in his left hand. To his left stood another man holding a large axe, to most visitors it was assumed that this man was the lord's bodyguard.

The old man looked up and asked, "May I help you?"

Ziu looked around and did his best to smile, he did not feel comfortable at all indoors.

Ziu: I was told that I could perhaps find work here for me and my men. Do I speak to you about that?

Kung Xian was a bit surprised to be receiving people looking for work so early. He looked at the man and said, "I might have some work you can do, but I need to know something first. What exactly are your skills and specialties?"

Han Ziu hunched his shoulders

Ziu: I have two thousand soldiers at my command, so I guess what I do is command. I don’t like dealing with people unless they are my soldiers or at the end of my blade. We want a place to stay, eat, sleep, train and want to see lots of action. I was told this was the place to come see about that. Not everyone can afford to take us in, if you do not have need of us or cannot afford to, I will take my leave.

The man did not utter such words as threats or to put pressure on his host, he simply seemed to be offering facts.

"Yan has seen a lot of wars, and although I have stayed out of them so far, I believe I may be next to be targeted." Kung Xian said, "You and your men will be welcomed to stay, if you wish you may take the barracks on the West side of the Administration Complex."

A lone rider approached the gates of the city of Ji, his obvious Xiongnu armour denoting his heritage and master. Even if the man's appearance had not shown his precedence, the banner attached to his horse did, as the white characters for Li Lang's name fluttered in the wind on the purple background of the banner. The man himself was armed to the tooth, with a sword at his side, and a bow in hand. Looking down at the guards, he announced his reasons for visiting.

"I am a messenger of Chief Lang of the Li Clan!" he barked out. "Here to give Kung Xian a message, regarding a demand he made to our comrades a few days ago!"

The guards looked at the man and one of them said, "Our lord was expecting one of you. Before you get entry all weapons are to be surrendered and a search is to be committed upon your person."

The Xiongnu warrior seemed miffed at the required protocol, but nodded anyway. "Fine," he grunted. "Chief Li said to accommodate your...peculiar needs. Be done with your search, then, and take me to your master!"
