OOC Note: Much better. Keep it up or suffer.
The brawl was in full flair. With the deck of the first barge engulfed in combatants, chaos was quick to spread and order abandoned. Screams filled the air as blades screeched and bows wailed their mournful tune. With blood spilling and flesh torn asunder, by the moment man and woman was killed and their bodies left to crumple to the deck or fall to the waters below. Yet, even as the pirates began to seize their first landings upon the front barge, men scurried upon the other barges. By the moment, mercenaries was racing for the planks with hammer and hatchets in hand. "Stop them!" came a scream from amongst the pirate's rank, a roaring command soon lost amongst the clash of blades. Yet, as well as sword or arrow, the merchants served to hamper the mercenaries as the frightened traders abandoned that barge and ran to the safety of the others. It gave the pirates time, yet they needed to act soon.

Yet, the majority of the pirates was entangled with the enemy swordsmen. With Niu Gongzhu having abandoned her position at his side and Lei Anshui injured, Sho Tao had found himself tasked with seizing the landing point. With his own personal retinue of soldiers, he and his men served as a bulwark. As a fortress against the tide of pressing enemies who turned aside the assault time and time again. Through the efforts of Sho Tao and his men, the lines was secure. Yet, they still laid entangled by the enemy and unable to spread out. It served to hamper their numbers while the enemy archers continued to fire down upon their targets, slowing the pirate's boarding. "Advance!" Sho Tao roared as he swung his axe and claimed an enemy's life. "Get to the planks!" he roared as he moved forward into the press of the enemy and encouraged forth both his men and his fellow raiders. It was a desperate advance, one that saw more than one pirate fall, yet the enemy line was faltering. "Charge!" he roared only for his men to break free of the press. Yet, even as they cut their way from the majority of the enemy lines, their companions stood their ground and kept the landing. Securing the boarding zone for those to come. "Charge!" Tao roared once more only for his men to charge forward, only pausing to deal with those archers and scarce swordsmen who got into their way.

As they moved along the side of that ship and towards its stern, the resistance grew softer by the moment. The enemy's forces laid divided between those attacking the boarders and those protecting the fleeing merchants. It was almost a clear path and Sho Tao's advance was only slowed by their own armor and pressing fatigue. Yet, their charge was eventually brought to a stop. As they neared upon the stern and the planking between the ships, they found resistance once more. A man of slender build yet powerful arm had risen a blockade before them. A crew of three archers supported by five swordsmen and the officer who kept the way clear as the archers fired. By the time Sho could react, two of his ten men laid dead and another three injured by the archers. Having barely avoided his own death, Tao found himself at a sudden disadvantage. Either he and his men could attempt to close the twenty foot between them and the enemy or they could attempt to break into one of the cabins at their right and hope to navigate through the ship.

However, as Sho Tao and his men fought for the stern, Lei Anshui, Alexandrus Publius, and Niu Gongzhu fought for the bow. With the boarding zone secured, the pirates found themselves able to ascend without worry excluding the archers. With utter ease, Alexandrus Publius ascended one of the hooks and onto the deck. Even Lei Anshui, despite the pain of her arm, found herself able to ascend the rope. With their arrival upon the deck, the injured warriors only served to tilt the momentum all the greater within the pirate's favor. Even as Niu Gongzhu danced and spun amongst the archer's midst with surprising ability, the injured Lei Anshui and the injured Alexadnrus struck. With his halberd singing his glory, Alexandrus joined the melee and assaulted those archers distracted by Niu Gongzhu. It was a pathetic affair and a lowly tactic, yet it saw a few heads roll. Yet, it was a pile that was quickly shadowed underneath the pile of Lei Anshui and Niu Gongzhu's own.

With Niu Gongzhu's spear stabbing and dancing amongst the enemy's line, she served to all but cripple that squadron of archers. Even as they abandoned their bows and drew dagger and short sword to come against her, her pure skill proved enough to slay a man before they had even made a step. It was an assault that saw her outmaneuver and pin the archers, limiting them to the very edge of the ship and causing more than one man to fall to the bloody waters below and add to the festive churning of the water.

While, with her every pull of the string, Lei Anshui saw another arrow fly. With deadly precision despite her injured arm, Lei Anshui saw more than one foe fall. Even as her targets rained hell upon her companions, she drew their body within her sight and ended their lives with a single wail of her string. By the time an enemy had drawn his arrow and taken aim, she had fired three and claimed three lives. Between both Lei Anshui and Niu Gongzhu's talents, the enemy archers was quickly buckling and abandoning their posts which allowed all the more pirates to ascend those lines and join the melee against the hard pressed swordsmen.

Taos advance was halted, and without his momentum and comrades to aid him, he chose the less suicidal path. With two men down, he ordered the rest of them into the cabins. The pirates would have to deal with this blockade on their own. Unfortunately, until his allies with arrows in hand came along, the pirates would have to be fodder.

"Inside the cabin men!"

Tao dove for the cabin, hoping his soldiers armor would protect them long enough to obstruct the archer's aim.

"Let the archers deal with these. Leave the fallen. Take a moment to tend to your wounds, but be quick. We have a ship to commandeer."

Tao set off with his remaining men to find a way around or perhaps something to aid them against the enemies phalanx.

"There may even be something in the treasury worth, liberating, for the time being. Let's get to it."

Seeing the enemy archers die by his blade he suddenly grined and roared. "Does noone offer me a challenge?!" as he slammed his fist against his chest while holding his halberd upward. He turned his gaze over to Niu and the other woman and saw much more dead than he had produced. He frowned somewhat and grumbled under his breathe as he charged in head first trying to kill any more stragglers that have not been already murdered by the two woman or the brute himself.

Niu continued her work amongst the Archers, glad to see that her efforts to take out the problem creatures before they started their assaults was working, and set about to finish defeating them. When the last Archer fell, however they did so, she would turn her attention to the brawl in the middle, and pick off any of the enemy who tried to disentangle themselves from it.

Her archery doing fearful work, despite her wounds, Anshui keeps up her fire, as long as there were foemen presenting themselves as easy targets. When the enemy's fire support had broken, the young maiden tucks her bow away, before pulling up her dao in front of her, and making her way for the growing melee. She did not rush in, however, considering how important keeping some room in front of her was, but she hacked at the legs of any foes that got disentangled from the close in brawl, yet remained distracted by it.

"Inside the cabin men!" Sho Tao roared as the enemy's archers prepared for a second volley. Quickly regaining command over his shocked and frightened troops, Sho Tao directed them towards the cabin. With a quick slam of their shoulders, the door buckled inward and the soldiers, along with Sho Tao, rushed within. Yet, as the door bowled open, a small hallway was opened before them. A hallway filled with men. Two sailors stood helping a group of merchants, perhaps seven or eight of them, who obviously was trying to haul away some of their prized possessions. Vases, chests, and more laid before them with it serving as only a promise of the wealth to be found in the storage.

Before the sailors could even react or Sho Tao order his men to attack, one of his men raced forward. With a quick stab of his halberd, he slew one of the soldiers as the visibly paling merchants looked onward. Even as several of the merchants paled and turned to run, while others attempted to snatch up some of their goods, the remaining sailor turned and lashed out. With a quick slice of his dao, the bold halberdier was left slain. Yet, quickly backing up, the sailor stood and seemed ready to fight against Sho Tao in their lot. While the man should likely prove only a momentary hindrance, the situation gave Sho Tao something to ponder.

The merchants who had fled and run had taken a left at the coming turn in the hallway. Thus, due to his own judgment, Sho Tao figured it was likely the direction of the planking and the second barge. While, if he went straight ahead, Sho Tao would likely find himself further into the ship. Likewise, turning right would take him further into the ship but towards the brawl. Which way would he attempt to go?

However, the brawl upon the fore of the ship was quickly becoming a massacre. As by the moment the combined efforts of Niu Gongzhu, Alexandrus Publius, and Lei Anshui saw more archers fall, more men was able to come aboard that ship. Yet, by the moment, more and more of the straggling pirate fleet was reaching the ship. Some of the more bold ships had even begun to sail upon the second with men readying boarding lines. The deck laid slippery from blood and the reek of the blood and gore had become almost sickening. It burnt eyes and left both weapons and footing to slip. Yet, still that massacre continued. Oh, even as the last of those archers was slain or broke off into a mad flight, those warriors of legend turned upon the massacre and added to the chaos! With weapons singing of their glory, they tore flesh and bone with blow after blow until finally the massacre was brought to an end. The fore laid theirs and almost a hundred men laid dead across less than thirty foot of bloodsoaked ship. While along both routes, more battle had ensued. Even a few of the pirates had raced within the ship, breaking open door and shuttered windows to spread their bloody work. Yet, no matter where the pirates went, little resistance met them.. it seemed as if the enemy was attempting to abandon that ship at all costs! The only true resistance laid at the stern where archer and swordsmen kept the pirates away from fleeing merchants who attempted to carry away their precious goods.

Swinging his large halberd with great ease Alexandrus struck down more and more of the foolish sailors that dared to fight against him and his comrades. It was quite entertaining. The large Roman hadn't had this much killing done by himself in a long time. Possibly even back in his homeland was the last time.

He stuck his halberd high into the air and roared fiercely at the victory over the ship's crew. He lowered his halberd and looked about for any more enemies to vanquish. That was when he saw the small group of stragglers protecting the fleeing merchants. "PERFECT!" he yelled out as he pointed his arm out towards the cowards. "Hurry! Kill them all!" he yelled out while looking at the other pirates that had come upon the ship. If they began to charge he would join them and slice down anyone he could that dared to fight against him as he made his way to the defenseless merchants.

Anshui saw that their enemy was now reeling, and grinned at the big warrior's call. Hefting her guan dao for the continued assault, she lowered her weapon and aimed it at the enemy. Then, the blade at her side, she charged right after the larger man, eagerly impaling the nasty weapon into her foe. This was no time to let the merchants flee.

We take them, here and now! She hollered, though she made sure not to sink the blade into any of the rich folk, smacking them instead with the shaft of her weapon. After all, keeping them alive might be worth even more money, since they could be ransomed and all.

Sho Tao roared at the loss of another one of his men.

"Let's fill this fool full of holes!"

After that situation is taken care of, he will take his slightly smaller and the three injured into the ship. Going Straight.

"There is little we can do outside until the rest of the pirates arrive. Except get a face full of arrows. We go deeper and find out just exactly what we've gotten ourselves into. Maybe we can find something to cauterize your wounds and keep the three of you that let yourselves get injured on your feet. Our three brothers better not have died in vain. And I will not be throwing the rest of you into another arrow storm until we see just whats inside this over sized husk."

A grin upon her face as they finished the men on the ship, Gongzhou turned to the men upon the bow of the ship, and rushed towards them, taking care not to slip upon the gore as she made her way to the stern to take out the guards of those escaping merchants. "Surrender now, and you shall die quickly." she said to the guards and merchants, bringing her spear to face them.
