With fear within his heart, Zhou Mingli stood there. He pushed his every sense to its limit, listening for any noise of approach or anything odd. He strained his eyes against the darkness of the inside of that carriage, trying to see some hint of a trap. Yet, in the end, he did not see so much as a hint of danger and with a belief that the coast was clear he moved forward. With a knot of fear within his stomach, Zhou Mingli mounted that carriage and peered within. He gazed into the darkness of the carriage... and then he saw it.

Haphazardly turned over, the large chest laid within the carriage. It was a simple, yet, large and sturdy affair. Treated wood covering its inside while a simple bronze clasp kept the chest's lid in place. Yet, the box was seemingly jostled. Overturned with its lid upon the ground and pressed against the edge of the seat. Stretching forward, Mingli attempted to upright the affair. It was heavy. Yet, it would of been easy enough to carry alone. He could of likely bore it along the road with ease and it was that very fact which caused the knot of fear to tighten within his stomach. Turning the chest about, he brought its lid to face him and he found that clasp undone. A simple push of the lid and it fell backwards, revealing the box's contents... it was empty. The chest was empty. The bounty hunters must of taken it! Was it somewhere within their camp?..

Mingli was annoyed beyond belief now. The rodents with sticks must have the bloody bounty or someone else did. He scowled as he stepped back out of the carriage and looked around it, also keeping an eye out for threats. He wondered if someone had hid the treasure in a hole or in the brush somewhere, assuming the carriage to big a target to hide. He looked about and had his companion do so too. He just hoped no one interfered. Going back to camp was an option he really didn't like at the moment but he thought maybe he'd get lucky.

The duo find themselves presented with several routes to progress along. Countless bounty hunters lined the lake's shore and could perhaps provide information, some bounty hunters had commandeered or rented boats to approach the lake's islands, while others had begun along the lake's northward road towards the Yangtze River. Which path would the duo progress along?
They much preferred the dry route and would avoid riding a boat as much as possible, hence ventured towards the northward road. Hoping not to attract too much attention, the duo would keep their distance from the bounty hunters as they walked. If approached, they would assess whether the company were amicable before speaking.

The young man seemed confident in himself as he stood before Yue Shang. "I realize he is a murderer for one. That he supposedly killed killed Master Suo before kidnapping Lady Ning. I realize he wouldn't likely surrender because it would mean his death. He would likely try to kill whoever tried to arrest him." the boy commented in a low voice, obviously a threat.

Zhou Mingli and Tie Shuo began their hunt once more. Realizing the carriage was a dead end, the duo set upon the nearby grounds. Creeping through bush and through freezing muck, the duo overturned rock and log and brushed aside undergrowth as they looked for coins. For almost three long moments they trailed about the carriage until Tie Shuo shouted in discovery. Almost to quickly he silenced himself, realizing what he had done. With his eyes widened by fear, he snatched up his discovery and ran to Mingli's side. He had found a small cluster of golden coins! Perhaps the coins had fallen out from whatever the bounty hunters had carried the gold away in. +11 gold

The road was almost abandoned as the duo continued along it. The road showed that countless people had once walked upon that dusty trail and perhaps even a horse or two had been lead down its pathway. All to quickly, however, the duo found themselves at a break off point. One pathway continued northward towards the river while a westward road lead away from the lake. Yet, a third path lead to the northwest. Which path would they take?

Yue Shang smiled at the threat. It had not been since Zhao Ning was still alive that he'd had himself a good fight. The prospect of it excited him. It seemed that he had found his man--this murderer of Suzhou. That meant a reward for bringing him in, of course. But it was the thought of this duel to the death that seemed imminent that had Yue Shang grinning from ear to ear.

"He could try," Yue Shang warned. "But he would fail. So I take it that I have found my man. Isn't that right, Li Zhao? It seems that fate has already decided that one of us will not walk away from this. Let us leave these people out of this and settle this outside with a duel, like honorable men. My terms are simple. If I win, I take Lady Ning and whatever is left of you with me. If I lose, you are free to go."

Mingli was somewhat startled yet relieved to find the gold pieces on the ground. He whispered to Tie Shuo. "Where did you find those? Maybe there's a trail. Look around for signs of digging or such." He hoped his friend remembered where the gold had been found and hurried to investigate, ducking low so as not to be seen by whoever may be wondering past. They really hoped someone was stupid enough to leave a crumb trail. Even a small one. He didn't want this search to be for nothing and he was sure there had to be something to this camp besides two annoying rats sitting on their butts for nothing. They had to be guarding something, or distracting people with their pointy objects who thought to seek it out.

They observed the roads while they considered their options. Ding Yi doubted that Li Zhao would lead the carriage towards the river and risk being sighted, but.. she then glanced toward the westward road.. how could she be certain..? They thought the northwestern path was their best bet, and hence proceeded along it. Cong Ma looked around, wary of any signs of trouble.

OOC Note: I apologize, but, this is quite odd. I swore I had already replied to this set. I guess I forgot to hit submit or something as I know I've previously rolled and typed up results. I have recreated my replies and your rolls to the best of my ability.

Spike:
"Fair?" the young man questioned before laughing. "You believe this is fair?" he continued as his eyes narrowed. Even in the darkness of the hut, it was obvious he scowled at the man before him. That by the second, his hand was tightening about something at the edge of his waist, Yue Shag's every instinct screamed with danger. "I don't want to kill you. Throw down your weapons and I'll let you live." he growled.

Yet, the old man turned upon 'Li Zhao' at the accusation. "You'll what?" he questioned, his shock obvious. "We can't let him live!" the young man hissed. "He knows about you and grandma, He'll bring them back to you and you'll be killed." 'Li Zhao' continued. "But.."

"Enough! Get the women out of her, grandfather. Bo.." he commented only for the other young man to step forward for the darkness, a club apparently within his hands.

Zhou Yu:
TIe Shuo was hardly a fool. He wasn't so dim witted that he would forget so easily where he had found the gold. Yet, it seemed his shout had gone unnoticed by Zhou Mingli. He could only hope those within the camp paid as little heed to his call as he did. With fear within his eyes, he crept forward. Guiding Zhou Mingli away from that carriage, he moved to the edge of that rough clearing and pointed at some bushes. Amongst thick thorns, a small gleam could be seen amongst the shadows. It seemed as if a piece of fabric had ripped and a few coins had fallen out. Would Mingli dare a few scratches, even if from something possibly poisonous (as he failed to identify the type of plant), to crawl into the bushes to seize the fabric and any other coins that may of fallen? Or, would he continue his search elsewhere?

A muddy and hard trek laid before the duo. Yet, they managed on. All to quickly, the duo found themselves walking along what seemed to be a popular track. Apparent against the sucking mud, a horse had been seemingly walked upon that trail. Yet, at least eight (or perhaps less if they had walked back and forth several times) men, had seemingly progressed along that trial. Hurrying, they continued aong that pathway. Forcing themselves through the elements as found themselves upon what may of been their first lead. Yet, as they continued forward, a noise caught Ding Yi's ears. The conversation of men. An excited conversation in lowered, but, angry tones.

"Did you hear it?"
"Yeah"
"Ya think it was one of our guys?"
"Maybe.. To much odd shit going on today. To many people are getting close to our camp. Think boss is gonna want to move the chest soon?"
"Maybe.. I think he plans on staying set. The greedy bastard wants both the chest and the man."
"Should we stay here or think we should go check it out?"
"Stay. Boss would hang us if he knew we left this shit unattended..."

"Don't hide behind your grandparents," Yue Shang said, tightening his grip on his spear. "I have no interest in them. My only interest is to return Lady Ning to her father and to bring a murderer to justice. If you are the one I've come here for, don't be a coward and risk the lives of anyone else here. What exactly don't you think is fair about a man being brought to justice for murder? Take responsibility for your actions. The only man I wish harm to is named Li Zhao."

Not expecting to make the man see reason, Yue Shang prepared to launch his throwing knife at anyone who dared launch an attack.

MIngli was also no fool and wouldn't risk his neck literally for a few coins. He looked around for any trail that could have been left by the one who had obviously ripped their bag or clothes running for it. This was one odd development. He wondered if the bounty hunters could be taken down in the dead of night. He and his companion ducked low again, hoping if they got out of sight no one would see them. They did while searching for a trail.

Ding Yi held her breath while she overheard the conversation, her eyes wide and unblinking when she realised those men seemed to be involved in this case.

It was too dangerous to stay in their current position; from the conversation, the men knew of Ding and Cong's general location. Getting Ding to crouch, Cong pointed ahead. Keeping their eyes and ears open, they will quietly move away from the area and remain hidden behind the foliage, but will make a wide turn back and recon from a different position where they could remain well-hidden, and hopefully from a safe distance. They need to first establish how many people were alledgedly guarding a chest.
