Wu nodded. "That and, of course, staying alive. The lynch-pin of any good plan." He excused himself with a polite bow, and if nothing further was said, would return to his guard and companions to continue on to Dingtao.

Several days after his trial...

Riders bearing the colors of Zhefu head towards the border between Qi and Liang, towards the ruins of the northern city there. Waiting until they are seen by scouts, they quickly and gently lower their gift to Xiang Yu, wrapped in blankets and bandages-- the legless, handless, one-eyed living body of Qing Bu, his body tattooed with characters depicting his crimes against Heaven and Earth. Written upon the body were characters of mocking and shame towards those who would kill Emperors, with a scroll pinned to him saying the following:

"For those who would presume to kill the Son of Heaven, such fates will follow. Renounce Xiang Yu, else the Heavens Curse shall fall upon you as well. From this traitors own lips the words sprang forth, and thus condemned both Master and lackey, witnessed by those of Eastern Chu and Zhao.

Scouts from the second territorial army were the ones seen by the riders of Qi. A few squads moved forward whilst the rest stayed vigilant against trickery, scanning the horizon for more of Qi's men. Assuming none were seen, several men unwrapped Zhefu's 'gift', most recoiling in horror and more than a few parting with their most recent meal at the gruesome sight. After recovering from the initial shock, the corporal sent for the sergeant of the patrol, a veteran who had been with Hin Wu since he rode from Chu with the imperial army. Despite paling several shades, the man took charge of the situation, ordering that what was left of Qing Bu be wrapped back up in the blankets that the men of Qi had so thoughtfully provided, and taken with all haste to Suiyang. His men were also charged with keeping the matter a secret until their Lord had received this 'gift'.
