Saofang took the bag and set it down. "Some kinds more than others, huh? Well, there's certainly one kind that they can help with. Anyway, I'll see about getting the horse bought and trained within the month. If there's nothing else, then, don't let me keep you from your work. It's important work, especially the way things look right now..."

Shortly after the change of month came a wreaking odour of animal flesh throughout the more affluent living quarters of the city, aided by the return of the brisker winter breezes. The smell was accompanied by the sight of a stranger to the area, a scruffy mountain of man, who expunged rather inhuman looking fluids from mouth and nose, as his body adjusted to the coming winter. He approaches the abode of Saofang Can, and knocks on the closest door, then promptly begins yelling.

"Saofang! Qiao Quande is here! I hear you have an order of horse meat for me!"

Saofang Can's servant opened the door, and quickly (perhaps in hopes of being rid of the man) gave Qiao Quande directions to a stable closer to the outskirts of town, where he said the horse was being kept.

Assuming he followed those directions, he would eventually find Saofang Can waiting for him in a barn, next to a stall where a stablehand was working on a large, powerful-looking horse. "So, I figured you'd want to come see this one around now. It's a bit of a different sort of horse than I found for General Lin, but it's a good one. Probably suited to you, I'd say... it's got some decent speed, but more than that, it's strong and aggressive. Not always the most agreeable horse either... Sound like the kind of horse you can get along with?"

(Giving Qiao Quande a +2 Attack +2 Speed horse.)

Quande was quite impressed with his new horse while looking it over, but also visibly confused. "I'm sure my stomach will get along with it rather well, I just can't understand why Lord Baocen would want me to butcher it." Walking over to a side of the horse's head, he gave the neck a quick inspection, and began practicing his axed deathblow to the horse's neck. "It seems such a waste." A look of stern disappointment came over the man's brow. "But I'll take care of it." The man bows and walks away with his warhorse by his side, ultimately realizing his companion will not be his next dinner before the fateful act may be completed.

A very sharply dressed man approached Baocen Peng's residence one day, carrying an obnoxiously large scrollcase. He requested to see Baocen Peng, explaining that he was there on a very important matter.

Baocen Peng soon arrived at the door, sizing the man up. "From where do you come, stranger?"

The man bowed to Baocen Peng. "I'm here to inform you that you've won our yearly sweepstakes! Please accept your prize of 626 taels of gold!", said the man as he opened the scrollcase and produced from within it a giant, handwritten promissory note, clearly naming Baocen Peng as the winner of the 626 tael grand prize. "Now tell me, how does it feel to finally be a winner!? Exciting, right!?"

As the man excitedly pressed him for comment, an artist could be seen quickly making a painting of Baocen Peng's hopefully shocked and joyful reaction to this wonderful news, and a crowd had appeared from somewhere to cheer him on.

Baocen Peng was unsure how to respond to the man's ramblings until he noticed the other fellow clearly attempting to make some kind of drawing out of him. With a wave of his hand, the local guards quickly arrested the two men and dispersed the crowd of apparent villagers.

"This is not working" thought Lin Yue after retreating so ineffectively from the fields of Han. She had lost her first true chance at glory and success, and as a result the armies at her command had fallen into disrepair. She needed a new start, a new place to set up and new place to try to prove herself. She owed lord Baocen Peng a lot, but she could not see how she would be able to live up to her family's reputation, or to her own expectations in his command.

So with this in mind, she collected her things and left Nanyang to find greener pastures.

Lin Yue has left Baocen Peng
