It hadn't been a long time since he'd left Yin, but for Rui, coming back still gave him a great feeling of fondness for his home.

More importantly, however, he wanted to go back home and see what they'd done with the place in his absence. Unfortunately, it wasn't his home anymore. After his mother had died, he had released all the servants and the Lu clan from their obligations to him except for Ning and Qiao An, who now accompanied him on his travels. The house had been sold off, and the money from that sale had been used to pay for their camping gear, horses, and nearly every provincial pass under the sun. He still had a bit of that gold for food, naturally, but otherwise, his only possessions amounted to what he wore and carried.

Thus, when they'd passed by Henei, he had pointed out the city to Zhiwen with a melancholic smile. "That used to be my home," he told his companion, "in better times. Now the land is my home."

It wasn't until they passed through a village, however, that Rui had his first real homecoming surprise. He had suggested they stop at an inn for the night and had sent Qiao An and Ning to go purchase some food while he and Zhiwen arranged their accommodations, but when they returned, they had come with surprising news.

Rui, in fact, had openly goggled at Ning. "What do you mean, a fifteen year old?" he asked, shocked.

Ning had a small smile on his face at the fact that he had finally managed to take his friend off guard. "You heard An right," he confirmed. "That rising faction? This is their village. Turns out, the leader's a girl fifteen winters old."

The villagers first whanted to ask for Zhu Lizhi's parents to take charge but while they tryed for a while her parents had realized that it realy wasent for them. There dauther on te other hand often sneak in the ofice and lisen to her parents talks, she often sugjested things how to solve some problems and where often very good idees. She was sadly a bit too young at the time, none would realy take her seriously, and so they remained incharge of it. Though many of the decisions where actualy hers. It was only recently that they had gathered the villagers to admit that the one who had realy been incharge was there dauther and that they wished to make her oficialy incharge. And though they where quite suprised at this sudent revelation, they agreed to make her there village head dispised her young age.

"All of our homes have seen better times," responded Zhiwen in agreement with a shake of his head.

"Did Sir Lu say a fifteen year old girl is in charge of this village?" he asked, his eyebrows flying up in surprise, as his jaws dropped in disbelief. Closing his mouth, he shook his head a few times, before continuing. "Well, since we've made the journey here . . . we should at least meet her and see what her plans are regarding her village and then Yin in general."

Rui, for once well and truly shocked, took a moment to compose himself once more before nodding, a calculating expression on his face. "I agree," he told Zhiwen. "If a child could take over the reigns of power at fifteen, then this is no mere ordinary person we're talking about. It warrants investigation."

Looking straight at An, Rui gave her a serious look. "An, find out where we can find this child. Quickly, since we also need to make good time to get to Qi while the good weather lasts."

Nodding humbly at the order, An left the inn and was gone for about an hour before she returned with news.

"The villagers say that the child lives at a manor not far from here, Master," she reported softly.

Nodding in thanks, Rui glanced at Zhiwen by his side. "Well, we have directions. Shall we?"

Together, the small group left the inn, quickly navigating the small town until they had reached the manor in question, where they stopped at the property gates. Nodding at Ning, Rui watched as his friend knocked roughly on the wooden doors before stepping back and waiting for an answer.

With a silent nod, Zhiwen followed Bai Rui and his servants to the manor owned by the chief of the village. Upon arriving at the gates of the manor in question, Zhiwen stood silently with the tether of his horse in his right hand. He watched as Lu Ning walked up to knock on the gates and waited patiently for a response.

Li ling who was about to bring more paperwork to Lizhi heard the knock on the door but couldnt open the door so she ask her friend Ai Mei to do it.

Li Ling: can you get the door?

Ai Mei: sure...

Ai Mei opened the door while Li Ling stayed close behind her.

Ai Mei: yeah what is it?

Said the stronger looking girl, her "outfit" was quite "unique" using only bandages for top.

Li Ling: please excuse her crude greetings, she tends to be rather direct. I dont recognise you from the village so what brings you here?

Said the one in the back, though her own outfit was bit unusual it wasent as bad as the other one.

Rui, to his credit as a potential military advisor, was unflappable as he witnessed the strange dress the two women employed--in particular the first one. Ning, on the other hand, had audibly swallowed and hastily looked away, while An had given an indignant squeak at the immodesty being displayed. Instead of lingering on the topic of dress, however, Rui chose to plow right through to the reason he had come.

"I apologize for the disturbance, but as we were passing through the village, we couldn't help but hear that the chieftain is, in fact, a resident of this manor," he said smoothly. "As a native of Yin myself, I have heard a little about this person, and wished to pay a visit to ascertain if what I had heard was true."

Clasping his hands together, Zhiwen bowed slightly, politely greeting the young girl. "I am Yi Zhiwen of Qi," he said, introducing himself, "My scholarly friend here is Master Bai Rui of Yin. We are travelers who have heard of how you have taken over this village as its chieftain and wished to learn more about your background and your uh . . . administration, as well as to inquire as to your future ambitions, if any. As you know, with the fall of the Qin, the world is once again in chaos. We two are in search of those who wish to affect the course of history."
