"Well, as I said, before you came along, I'd not been able to write for a time. Writer's block, you know. I would go to my desk, grab a scroll and then end up twirling my brush for ages. I thought being here would give me no distractions from writing, but then I gave it up for a time and used this place as a hunting ground. So much for no distractions, yeah?"

Stepping out now, he continued, crossing his arms across his chest as he walked. "I've gotten good with a bow, at least, since other methods are a bit....well, as you can see, I'm not exactly a man of physical ability, so a sword in my hand would be no more lethal to anything than a blade of grass or a feather. I suppose it's not especially important to me anymore, the solitude, that is, since I've got a subject and direction; I know I'll be able to write."

Stopping after his little speech, he turned his head to the man again, brow raised. "Why do you ask?"
"Well," he said, slowly, "my master, the Marquis of Jiaodong Shi Tong, could use somebody of your abilities. We have a good number of people like me, who can handle a sword just fine, but we don't have as many for other things. At least, you would be a boon supplying our men with direction on how to improve themselves. I wonder if there would be more that you could do, though. If you possess such intelligence, even assisting in leading our armies would not be out of order, albeit from the back lines, where your own physical abilities would not be so necessary. Every general needs a worthy tactician, after all."

Feng's initial reaction, his gut instinct, at least, was to reject the man out-right. Sun Cai had been a personal friend of his for quite a time and he'd only wanted to help him the moment he heard that Chencang was in his hands.

But he had not heard or seen Cai in a time, nor had many others. It was not impossible to think that he had simply left and that Feng would no longer have to remain; after all, if his friend was not there to help, what point was there in being there -to- help? After he had thought it over a little more, he regarded Ai with a look before he started, looking to the sky as he talked.

"It's tempting, I'll give you that. I've not done much around here; I was under the impression that I would be joining a friend in his rise to prominence. But I have not heard from him in a time." He sighed a bit before looking back at him. "I will consider it. I could not simply go right away, as I may be needed here. But if there is nothing here to be helped, then you may see me sooner than the next season."

His surprise came to his face fairly quickly, and a small 'hmmm' of amusement came from him. "Well," he said, "I will send word to my master when I return that you may come. If not, however, I think I would be satisfied with the book. We could use your help, though."

Looking around, he said, "Well, if there is nothing else, I shall be on my way."

"Of course. I hope the journey treats you well this time around. When the book's done, you'll know how to find me, one way or another."

Offering the man a slight bow to say good-bye, he went back to his little cabin and closed up, setting around to prepare the materials he would need.

Waaagh!

"Reform! Reform," the Lord-Scholar shouted, "Get into formation! Ordered retreat! Head back towards those bastard Yuezhi, draw them into this fight if we have to!!! Keep those horsemen at bay, use the spears to dehorse the riders and kill them!"

Zu Yanghei will attempt to reform his men and make an ordered retreat back towards the Yuezhi line.

Lu Ying

The Lord-Scholar himself made yet another foray into the neighboring lands of Yong. He had heard of a talented warrior woman who ruled over the town of Songxi. At the moment, the Lord-Scholar found himself lacking in warriors, what with the strange disappearance of Tian Rui. He needed someone with a strong, powerful blade, and he hoped that this Yun Ling would be the woman to fulfill his need.

Arriving in a carriage flying the flags of the Sai Marquisate, with an escort of roughly fifty armed men in leather armor, wielding shining Pi Spears. A runner was sent ahead to declare peaceful intentions of the group, so as to not seem threatening, and the Lord-Scholar made his way into the center of town. He stopped to ask directions to the home of Yun Ling, and then made his way to her home. Stopping his carriage outside, the Lord-Scholar composed himself and stepped out. A servant was sent ahead who knocked on the door, "Excuse me, lady Yun Ling. The Lord-Scholar of Xianyang would like to speak to you if you are able and willing," he said in a polite manner, as he awaited someone to answer back.

Zeren

After meeting with Yun Ling, the Lord-Scholar once more headed off to a neighboring town, this one presided over by a man named Hua Fang, the town of Longzhi. Once more, his escort and carriage rolled into town, once more a runner was sent ahead to declare only peaceful intentions, and once more, the Lord-Scholar stopped and asked for the whereabouts of the town governor. The carriage, its lacquered woodwork gleaming in the sun, made its way down the town streets to the residence of Hua Fang. Stopping outside the town governors home, a servant was sent ahead to knock and gain an audience for the Lord-Scholar, "Excuse me sir, the Lord-Scholar of Xianyang would like to speak to the Governor of this town, Hua Fang."

For Yingy!

An plain carriage rattled along the plank roads of Yong. It was driven by an officer in the colors of the administration of Hann and there was a symbol for Hann on the back. Beside it, on horseback, was a general in gleaming armor with eyes that darted from rock to rock, as if he were expecting an ambush. It was no use telling him that no one in this province had any reason to attack, though; Zhang Ban was just that type of officer. Songxi was a quiet village high in the mountains and not a deathtrap. The last time Ranzhen and Zhang Ban had gone mountain hiking, the results hadn't been too spectacular. However, there would most likely be fewer bandits this go-round. Hopefully.

The carriage pulled into the village without much fanfare. Ranzhen stepped out of the carriage; he was dressed down in plan travel robes, not the finery he usually wore in Hann. Zhang Ban dismounted at the same time and the pair walked into the town proper to get a better feel of the area and perhaps find a guardsman. In the markets, they did eventually find one and asked for directions to home of Lady Yun...

DUN
As the messanger knocked on what he thought was Yun Ling, he found instead an elderly man opening the door. Upon hearing it was a visit from the lord of Xianyang the man went back inside and dressed in his official robes before rushing out to meet the noble man who had arrived on his doorstep. Making it to the visitor he bowed before speaking up.

"I am Hui Zang, adopted father of Yun Ling."The old man said "I am afraid you are out of luck if you wish to meet my daughter, she is currently out hunting and she may be some time.... you are welcome to wait of course... if you wish"

With that said Hui Zang motioned towards a building, a local tavern and waited to see if the visitor would stay or leave.

DREAMER
As the carriage pulled into the town of Songxi its occupents would notice the streets were mostly empty. When they sent someone out to find Yun Lings house their man would come back to them without finding her. If they waited a while a man came out to speak with the new comers.

"I Fang Yun, I understand your looking for my friend Yun Ling?" Fang Yun said in a matter of fact tone. "Right now she has taken a group of the villagers into the mountains. there are bandits praying on our cattle and she will see them pay."

"Well, I doubt our bandit trouble intrests you much. Can I help you with anything?"

"I see. Yong does seem to have a problem with bandits; the last time I visited villages were practically building walls against them." Perhaps Zhang Ban being so vigilant on the way in was prudent after all? "Does the village have an inn of some sort where I could unload my affects and perhaps wait for the lady to return?"

The Lord-Scholar, having overheard the man addressing his messenger flashed the old man a smile, "Ah, so you are the Lady Yun Ling's father," he asked in a polite tone, "Perhaps I could speak with you until the lady returns? It would be remiss of me to not speak with you as well, Lord Hui Zang," he said as he approached the older man, "Allow me to properly introduce myself, I am Zu Yanghei, Lord-Scholar of Xianyang and Marquis of Sai. Quite the mouthful of a formality, I must say, but a formality nonetheless," he said, smiling, "If you would like, I wouldn't mind having a few words with you, perhaps you would allow me to treat you to a meal at that establishment over there," he said, pointing towards the tavern previously indicated, "However, should you not wish to speak with me, I suppose we could await your daughters return, and would appreciate it should you tell her that I am here when she returns."

Dreamy-Poo
Fang Yun nodded before gesturing to a local inn and assuming the visitor followed him he lead into the establishment. "Yes" He said as they walked "Yong has had more then its share of bandits. Infact, this whole town was held hostage till Yun Ling and Hui Zang arrived. You should have seen it."

"I... I've never seen someone fight like that. I used to serve in the qin army, but this was something diffrent. Yun Ling was like a wirlwind of death with her axe."

Entering the inn a waitor quickly seated the part. Once seated Fang Yun looked at Ying Ranzhen and asked "What is it you want with our Yun Ling anyway?"

Duny-pie
Hui Zang smiled at the unexcpectedly friendly response from the lord of Sai. "Ah, yes. If you wish to speak with me too I would be happy to oblidge" Hui Zang replied, never beeing one to turn down a free lunch. The pair, assuming Zu Yanghei followed, make their way into the tavern. Hui Zang waved at the waitor and walked to a corner table.

"My usual seat" Hui Zang said with a smile as he sat down. "Now" he continued" What has you up in these parts looking for my daughter?"
