So as per the announcement, do you guys think we should start a new game in the next few weeks recycling the same rule set as last game?

I have started a second job so I haven't been able to keep up much with what all has been done, but I'll play whatever version is put forward.

I said no.

Last version was about who can have the bigger alliance. We need logistics, AKA you can't attack ANYWHERE on the map from ANYWHERE. That's silly. Whoever has the most friends wins. You need to be able to only attack territories next to you. If it stays the same I won't be playing this round

Is this still an issue if you can't make alliances? IE, can't have multiple attackers merge onto a target? I mean sure, you can still ally in the sense you promise not to attack each other.

Routes and territories in that way is hard to code, not impossible, just difficult. I also don't see how roads and such fixes alliances, people would still ally in a corner, form a huge army and trample their way through a set path.

I think single player mode (so if more than one player attacks a target, only one gets to attack, others have to retreat) might be best option, just concerned might make the game less interactive right?

Is there a way to code it as such?

City 1, 2, 3 are adjacent.
City 4 is not.

If (city 1) then can attack (2, 3)

Something along those lines? Draw roads to connect the territories then hard code it in there so when you pull up the menu you will only see City 2 & 3 to attack if you own City 1?

Single player mode is the best option if you want to get it started ASAP. Logistics is cleaner and makes more sense in the long run and allows for alliances to attack as a team (as if it were a real battle and not a video game)

Yeah, something like that, possible just difficult.

Also, roads and such introduce new issues like tracking where officers are, armies and such. That was the beauty of last game, coordinating multiple attacks without having to worry about logistics. Of course, logistics is fun, but it can bog a game down, complicate things, make conflicts take forever as people move troops and officers around. It would make for a completely different game, might be too much to take on alone.

I think we'll try single player mode and a quick upgrade on civil. If it fails, it fails. I don't want to go another 5 years without a game, baby steps.

I'm interested in just going for it as well, and learning from what happens. The most important thing now may be to just maintain enthusiasm, getting more people involved.
