Han Xuan wrote:A soldier ran and got Huang Zhong, who came back and just stared at Ji Song. A silence pervaded in the air for a moment as Huang Zhong glared at the man, but a sigh and words finally came.

"What... happened?"

The old man stayed silent for a few moments after the question until slowly offering the General a salute from within his self-imposed imprisonment position.

"General... We had intelligence that a force that had taken the village of Fuyi and was holding its former leaders hostage and forcing them into subjugation. While the force was otherwise occupied with an assault on the now also subjugated town of Lin, we would liberate the village of Fuyi. We took nearly six hundred men to battle... what you see is all that is left..."

A deep wail emerged from within the old man, honestly frustrated that time and again his plans had been lain to waste due to pure bad luck. After another few moments, he continued.

"We thought we would be swift. Somehow, the enemy force heard our force was incoming and was swifter and in far greater numbers. We counted over 1,000 head... Two of my officers were also taken, now either executed or forced to serve this creature..."

Lowering his salute finally, Ji Song looked upon the General humbly.

"I dare not ask for your trust again, General... With the last bit of savings I have come to pay back the kindness you offered. But please, please General, ride forth with the armies of Changsha and liberate these oppressed peoples that I could not."

"I am pleased that you have recognised my talents and deemed my exploits enough to warrant support. Though, I do not forsee much battle in the near future I still seek to resolve situations in Jing. You understand that at times I have needed to fight." Yue's tone was sharp. "It is in the town of Lindao that many able and strong fighting men reside. I require additional men of talent who are capable of leading my forces into battle against these upstarts."

Huang Zhong merely stated at Ji Song. His face was flat, unemotional, unreadable. He simply let Ji Song continue to wail and moan, allowing him to vent his frustrations without interruption. At the end of it, Huang Zhong sighed before he spoke.

"If I was being fair or just, for the charge of killing those men, I should execute you. This isn't just 2 failures, this is two notable failures..." Huang Zhong kept staring before he sighed and continued.

"Two things, however, work in your favor. First of all, you did return with the promised gold. Given I made no mention of returning the troops, you did your part. Two, and this is what matters... we have a distinct lack of men to do as we need. Where other warlords have been sending men out by the droves to conquer this province, we have no such luxury..." Huang Zhong stated at him for one more moment of silence before finishing.

"If... and this is a big if.. but if, Ji Song, I trust that you do have potential and you have been stymied by large problems... will you be foolish enough to march on such a massive force again? Or will you at least be wise enough to take our counsel if we provide you with a list of acceptable targets and our biggest boon yet? If you fail this time however, I will warn you now not to return as you will become an enemy of the state for your failures and your only answer from us will be execution. Will you take the offer? Or will you walk away now, knowing I will let you walk without penalty?"

"Right. Capable men..." Han Xuan looked back at his papers, reading for a moment before he spoke.

"Give him the list next to you... oh, that was for me to read to myself." Han Xuan then grabbed a scroll in front of him, handing it over to Yue Fei as he spoke.

"That scroll has the name of some people who can help you with your actions. Go forth and, uhh... liberate the land... I guess." Han Xuan nodded to Yue Fei, clearly content with his performance.

"Is, uhhh... that all? Or did you have any other issues you needed to discuss? Cause I'm all ears! As leader! It's my job!... Apparently."

Song remained silent for a few moments before he lowered his head and spoke matter-of-factly.

"I submit myself to your counsel, General. Your targets will be my targets. My reward shall be your reward.... I will take your offer, General."

"That will be all." He said before bowing respectfully "I will return with news of my victory at Liandao." Yue Fei then departed the room.

OOC: Thanks!

OOC: Lets do the timewarrrp.

Atop his horse and escorted by a several of his guardsmen, Yue Fei rode calmly into the city of Changsha towards the audience hall. He towed a man whose hands were tightly bound by rope. With a sigh, Yue Fei dismounted from his horse. Giving the reins to one of his entourage, he walked with practiced ease towards the guards on duty. "I am here to see Magistrate Han Xuan, or a representative." He added, "This is Chao Taishi. A commander of the bandit forces of Liandao. My prisoner."

Huang Zhong pondered for a moment. The ramifications of his next action would be large... but he did not fear Han Xuan. He snapped his fingers to the soldiers, addressing each of them.

"Run to my chamber. There are two scrolls there. One of you take on scroll and head to the barracks, preparing the necessary things listed. The other one of you get the other scroll and return it here. It will provide information to Ji Song on who to get to assist him and on the targets in question." The soldiers saluted and then ran off. As Huang Zhong looked back to Ji Song, he addressed him again.

"I will be frank, you get this chance again because I see potential in you... but this also can't really go wrong. At best you find the success I think you can. At worst, you harass and weaken a potential threat. That said... this will not be some token force. I am giving you something more than you'd get anywhere else... I hope you understand what that means." With that, Huang Zhong left. Moments later, the soldier arrived again, handing the scroll to Ji Song who might be surprised as to its contents.

(OOC: Ji Song gets 600 soldiers, armaments, NPC points and spy points! Also, PM Incoming with 'advice' from Huang Zhong)

A soldier greeted Yue Fei and immediately let him in, bringing him and his prisoner to the office of Han Xuan. Thankfully, Wei Yan was in the office this time, as was Han Hao. The three all turned around each of them greeting Yue Fei. Wei Yan motioned to the other two, and Han Hao continued showing things on the map to Han Xuan while Wei Yan approached Yue Fei.

"Master Fei, what news?"

Yue Fei greeted each individual in turn. "The town of Liandao has been captured, General. The bandits forces have been routed. Many troops defected once they saw the army march to their walls. Those that could not flee, surrendered." He gestured to the prisoner, "This is Chao Taishi. Commander of the forces at Liandao. I leave this rebel in custody of Magistrate Han. I also offer 150 taels of gold as a gift." Yue bows his head. "I have done all that Magistrate Han has ordered. The bandits' holdings have been seized and their forces are scattered like straw to the wind."

OOC: "Chao Taishi (65) 28-27-30-32-31 Sortie I, Engineer I" and "150 gold" to Han Xuan.

Wei Yan nodded approvingly at Yue Fei, looking down at the prisoner with a frown and motioning to a nearby attendant.

"Have this prisoner cleaned up and taken care of. He will be out to work making arms and armaments for our men. Perhaps then, at least, he will have some meaning for living beyond banditry." The attendant nodded and led the prisoner away. Wei Yan then turned to Yue Fei.

"Well done. You have done wonderfully in your conquests. With the lands at least under more civilized control, now we can focus on more important things. For starters, however, we have decided that for your service you will be given the rank of Protector of Jing. You've earned it. We've had a Crest commissioned for your efforts." Wei Yan handed over a golden Crest to adorn the general, made very well.

"As for the future... it seems we have some potential issues, but if you are still looking to prove yourself, we may have some orders for you and some potential assistance for them."

(OOC: Yue Fei is given a +3 Cha crest, but loses gold and Chao Taishi!)

"You honour me. I will redouble my efforts to ensure peace in the realm." Yue bowed once again to give thanks. "My forces are at your command."

Wei Yan smiled and nodded, walking over to the table with the map and pieces and grabbing one of the scrolls upon it. He walked back and handed it to Yue Fei, speaking with approval in his voice.

"You have proven yourself time and again. This will be your greatest challenge yet, but you have allies who can assist you and those who I'm sure you can convince to align their goals with yours. Do this, and trust me... the rewards you've recieved until now will have paled in comparison to what awaits you."
