A new time for Jing

Postby Mystery GMNPC » Tue Apr 03, 2018 12:55 pm

"Damn it and damn this damn province. Why should we care what happens here huh?"

Those around him said nothing, their mission was clear, they knew their commander was just venting.

Another man rode up next to him, this seemed to calm him.

This new arrival said to him in a calm steady voice

"This is an important task, do not neglect it."

The large commander nodded.

"I know Xiaoxian, just feels like others could of..."

A third man arrived also on horseback.

"Preparations are complete, we can execute on your command my..."

He was interrupted by the giant general.

"Stop being so formal will you, Lord Cao isn't here and we have been friends all of us long enough."

"WHAT?!"

Jie pleaded with him to calm down.

"How can Qin have gotten away?! You had one simple..."

The third man in the trio presented Zhang Yun in an attempt to interrupt the man's tirade.

"My Lord, please let me..."

The big man dismissed Yun.

"QUIET! I am told a man saved him from capture, who was it?"

"Liu Quan."

The big man paced in his tent.

"Boning, why isn't Qin shaking in his boots before me right now, surely this Liu Quan isn't harboring such a man?"

Man Chong bowed.

"It would seem so. Zhao Fan has made an outcast out of..."

He turned on his friend.

"Outcast? Why in the name of the Heavens would he do that instead of bringing him TO ME!"

Chong took a breath, leaving the anger to rest within his long time friend.

"Lord Cao would rather..."

The commander lifted his hand.

"FINE! I can't take a damn city, I can't strike at these petty fools, tell me Boning why am I here? Should the General Who Sweeps Across the Wilderness be stuck in this swamp of a province baby sitting these..."

Chong gave him a look that seemed to appease him somewhat.

"What do you suggest? We needed Qin for the plan."

Jie came in, havng heard part of the conversation.

"There is another that may serve the same purpose in this province, his name is Hu Jing."

Hu Jing strolled into the Cao party camp, drenched in viscera from the village protectors of Zhongan. He glanced around, his faithful vassal Yong Yue standing near him with an unsure expression. "Sir, are you...positive this is a good idea?"
"Positive? No." Hu Jing admitted with a shrug. "Good idea?"
"Also no..." Yong Yue sighed.
"Also no." The barber agreed and saluted the guardsmen he stood before. "Ahoy, my name is Hu Jing, rightful Magistrate of Leiyang. Interrogator Man sent for...me?"
His tone almost suggested it was a question, rather than a statement - like he wasn't sure why such a man would approach him.

The guards looked at each other and then slowly shook their head.

"There's a basin over there, get cleaned up and we'll bring to to General Mao."

It happened no one was using the area at the time.

Hu Jing shrugged and walked over to the basin quickly rinsing himself off, paying careful attention to scrubbing his scalp and facial hair. Yong Yue was more inclined to getting his hands cleaned, particularly under his fingernails. Once the two men were about as clean as they were going to get Hu Jing wheeled about and shook his hands out, flinging red-tinged water across the ground. "Did you say General Mao? I was sent a letter by Lord Man. Are they working together here?"

The guards nodded, motioning to follow one of them.

"Indeed, they both server under the commander of the camp."

For such a vast camp, they were within sight of Mao Jie in seconds.

"Welcome Hu Jing, I am Mao Jie, the commander would like to meet you."

He ignored the fresh wet apparel and stains, turned and led him on. This time they seemed to be going further into camp, offering a chance for more discussion.

OOC: Hey, how's this for funny? I've been spelling my own NPC's name wrong the whoe time. It's You Yue, not Yong Yue. Let's just pretend I know what I'm doing for a moment and pay no attention as I correct myself in future posts.

IC:
Hu Jing saluted the man politely, as did You Yue. "Well met, General. I am Magistrate Hu Jing and this is Minister You Yue, one of my officials."
First a letter was written to him by Man Chong, now he was brought to Mao Jie, and now he was being led to a third person - or maybe he meant that Man Chong was his commander? The whole situation unnerved Hu Jing. Sometimes he wished things wouldn't be so strenuous - although to be fair he had just come from stabbing people to death, so that's pretty strenuous to begin with. "General, may I ask...you are all vassals of Prime Minister Cao, what does a humble Magistrate like me warrant a meeting with someone from the central courts?"
He was, literally, just a man who killed people for a living.

Mao Jie nodded in acceptance of the validity of the question.

"Liu Quan."

Mao Jie gazed at his visitor for a moment before continuing.

"Zhang Yun sent you all on a quest for vengeance. Yun is a fool, but he does certain things... well. We basically have received a scouting report of sorts from all the new magistrates in Jing. You see, there's a special thing happening here that is causing chaos and anarchy and well, we can't have that."
