"Oh, sure. Why not? Anything to accommodate this Lu Su. No, no, guys, go on and head back to Lingling. It was silly of me to bring you."

Shaozu heads inside the tent.

A masked guardsman at the guest tent waves over in a friendly manner as the minister steps aside and pulls back the tent flap. Inside a table with a map of Jing sits and a man can be seen with his back to the tent flap in the robes and cap of a minister. Five captains stand about the map pointing at various locations and chattering about troop movements; they lift their heads to look at the open flap.

"Greetings." says the man on the far side of the tent without turning as the five captains move toward the entrance. "Forgive me for being blunt but I must ask one question. If Lord Sun were to invade tomorrow because he was asked to intervene by another warlord. Would you agree to remain neutral, would you declare yourself for him, or would you fight against him."

"I'll be equally blunt, because the topic confuses me greatly. Why would you feel the need to invade a region that has just pacified the one warlord interfering with our mission to rid the land of rebels? Liu Quan and Yu Daoshi stepped beyond their ordained bounds. The former declared a fugitive, and the latter attacking loyal vassals of the land unprovoked. Considering we are on the brink of a lasting peace here then I'd have to declare myself against any that would bring war here. I believe your administration to have been mislead."

'Lu Su' will turn and reveal himself.
"We've never met in person, though not for lack of me trying." The man takes a deep breath and sighs. "I had...honestly expected more from the great betrayer, Pan Shaozu. I...made this elaborate hoax to bring you here, in order to finally get a shot at meeting you."
He leans against the table and frowns. "Well, the ruse is over. My name is Hu Jing. I'd say it's a pleasure to meet you, but I think I've lied enough to get you here."
Having never met the man in person he narrows his eyes. "I'm almost expecting you to cry out 'surprise' and admit you're not Lord Pan. This just seemed too easy. Almost not worth killing you over."
He glances at his men with a shrug. "Either that, or you've got my camp surrounded and are about to attack. Either way, would you like a cup of tea or wine before I gut you like a pig? I mean, my biggest fear in life has always been dying without a shred of food in my stomach - I'd hate to do that to another man, much as I personally dislike you."

After receiving no response from the man Hu Jing sighed and drew his knife, while his men restrained the man and forced him to remain kneeling. "Farewell then, Betrayer Pan. I must say, this is the most unsatisfying death I've been a part of."
With that Hu Jing will slit the man's throat, deep so as to make the death a little quicker. But no additional stabbing is necessary.

Pan Shaozu has been killed. Locations under his control go to NPCs.

"Oh, **** off..." a large man growled, throwing an empty wine jug. The jug crashed against the earth, sending large chunks of it spinning along the ground. Thanks to the man's otherworldly strength, the jug flew as high as an eagle and its flight and subsequent crash was hard for the army not to notice.

Though he had lost all the holdings he had conquered in the face of the Han coalition, his reputation and strength still attracted followers from the province. He was the barbarian king who had conquered villages and destroyed armies. When an upstart crusader tried to bring him down, his head mounted the walls the next day.

Now, however...the king was drunk and angry.

"My king, we can't just linger. Soldiers in camp too long tend to resort to their baser instincts. It's been too long since we fought," Teng Zu advised.

Guodan opened another jug of wine and responded, "Those ***holes made their point. We had a chance, back when we were trying to bring order to the place and make a home for ourselves. They want peace and order, but those Han idiots just don't want some 'barbarian' to be the one to bring it to them."

"By now, they've got tens of thousands of soldiers, altogether," he noted with a shrug before taking a big swig of wine, "We've got...a lot less than that."

There was a long silence. Guodan stood still, save for a little bit of drunken wobbling. Old Man Teng stood firmly beside him.

Finally, Teng said, "Your Grace, these men don't follow you because they think victory is assured. They follow you because you're a fighter, and you don't back down. They follow you because you're a king who isn't afraid to fight alongside his men, instead of feasting in a gilded hall while his men die in his place."

Teng grabbed the king's jug and tossed it far.

"Choosing not to fight...to simply exist, stuck in place...isn't who you are. So, win or lose, get back in the fight. If everyone else sees you as an enemy because of your birth, then be a worthy enemy and make a stand they'll speak of for generations," he concluded.

Guodan looked the old man in the eyes (as best he could, drunk as he was) and stared intently. Slowly, he began pulling another small jug of wine from the inside of his garb and uncorking it to take a drink - as if by going slowly, Teng wouldn't notice. Exasperated, Teng smacked it down onto the ground.

Unflinching, Guodan nodded intently.

"Alright, then. **** it. Let's have some fun before we die," he declared.
