Battle Management - Phase II
Turns have 4 phases and three of those are for battles and are represented differently in the BM tool. Once phase 1 is completed and there are attacks submitted, attackers and defenders MUST go to their BM tool and make selections.
So during phase 2, there are three sections to look at.
First section is for attackers and is simply a choice to withdraw. Withdraw removes the attackers. If there are more than 1 leader, one is randomly chosen and the other(s) withdrawn. You can use the spy action Bypass to increase your odds of being selected. Each person gets one chance, then anyone that selected bypass gets another chance, finally the winner of bypass gets an additional chance. You can only select a spy action as an attacker and only one of the choices.
If you are defending, you will see a list of your attackers, a list of your defenses if any already set and be able to set your defending army. Select which officers to send, amount of soldiers and armaments and you should see it appear in the list of defenders now as below in second image.
List of defenders
Battle Management - Phase III
Attack or defense uses the same principles. The idea is to set which officers will go into which layer, set each layer's soldiers and armaments as well as a target for the support layer (melee or opposing support layer) and finally how to handle duel challenges.
First section will show you who is attacking who and how soldiers and armaments each side has.
Here you simply want to assign your officers to one of the two layers. Keep in mind some tactics are only available in certain layers. First officer you add to a layer makes him commander of that layer by default, it can be changed after.
Below is what the list of officers looks like once added. Now you can remove the officer to reassign if needed or set his tactics and targets of such tactics when needed (like for effectiveness tactics). Don't forget to save once you assigned the 6 rounds of tactics
Below is where you set soldiers and armaments for each layer.
Finally, how you want to handle duel challenges is shown below. If either party has it set to refuse, no duel will happen but morale will be lost if one of them was challenging. Any combination of a challenge and accept challenges or both challenging results in a duel. If both are set to accept challenges, no duel occurs
